She may be bold, but Esmeralda's never been stupid. Reckless, yes, but never outright stupid and for that she knows to be careful around the woman. She's certain she's seen her outside Jersey's place, just another fun business to pass on the way to work, and anyone hanging around Jersey is to be avoided.
Esme sighs and shoves her hands into her pockets, carefully working to step around her on the far-too-short for her liking sidewalk.
A suspicious glance was given to the woman, there was something about her that made her cringe. Hesitantly, she nodded.
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"No reason, just thought I remembered you from somewhere."
She shrugs absently, tossing a few dark, thick locks over her shoulder before arching a brow. "You ok? You either look like you're going to puke or make a run for it, friend. I know I was too lazy to slap on makeup today, but I don't think I'm that bad without it."

Dark brows furrow together, following by a quick bite of her lip. She wascertain she recognized the woman; few Fables had hair quite so red as that, after all. Ner....Neris-

"Yeah, you can go ahead and just save that bullshit for someone who actually cares." She rolls her eyes, pursing her lips in annoyance before tucking a few loose strands of hair behind an ear. "Seriously, I don’t have time for it."

"Uh-huh." he nodded, arching an eyebrow. He knew he wouldn’t get anywhere arguing about it; there were reasons for what he did, but they would be too hard to explain without having to go into detail. Instead of mulling over exactly why this was brought up, he stomped the cigarette to the floor; he could clear this up a lot easier if that wasn’t in his mouth.
"I know they’re bad, but they’ve been more help than not for me."
She arches a brow in surprise, fully expecting a verbal lashing in reply but is pleased to find the opposite. "You could always try green tea or something, that's supposed to be a great alternative." Esme speaks like there's somehow science to back that claim up, but in reality its just her own experience. She used to smoke, to cool her nerves, but had slowly worked her way off.
She frowns a bit, looking Bigby over slowly, but not unkindly. "No offense, Sheriff, but you look like you could use a week long nap. Fabletown as crazy as always?"

"Well, they’re not all explicitly for protection per-se. Each one has a different use—" Though they were hardly useful to her anymore. Not since she’d been bitten. Demon blood didn’t mix well with runes, even if it was a lupine infection. "But yes, they do rather come in handy."
She nods, pursing her lips together in something akin to admiration. "So they not only look cool, but they're pretty useful. Not bad." Esme holds out a hand, grinning now. "I don't think we've met before? If we have, I'm sorry, I'm shit at remembering names."
Knowing who you are is confidence. Confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness is knowing who you are and pushing it down everyone’s throat.
