Haggis is from Scotland. If we’re being fair with no immigrant food whatsoever, they can’t eat that either.

We’re getting down to “if you hate immigrants you can’t eat” and I’m 100% okay with that

NON SPOILER REVIEW OF ALADDIN

OMFG! I finally saw Aladdin and… I FUCKING LOVE IT! Mena, Naomi and Will did an amazing jobs as Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, and Genie. I was the only person who clapped after Genie’s performance of Friend Like Me 😂 I mouthed the lyrics of Arabian Nights at the beginning of the film. Marwan’s portrayal of Jafar was… Eh.This film is so far the BEST Disney live action adaption that I’ve ever seen! I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it because that wouldn’t be fair for them. Anyway, if you’re a fan of the animated film like myself, you will love the live action adaption of Aladdin ✨🧞‍♂️

So, I saw Aladdin 2019 and it was SO good. The NON subtle commentary on where our country is right now with leadership and how the opinions of the youth are treated was VERY GOOD. Like, there was focus on the Old Way being the Best Way and the opinions of anyone younger weren’t worth anything. And I shit you not, Jafar popped off about “boarder control” and I lost my fuckin mind in the theater, it was fuckin GOLD. They also focused on the issues of women being seen and not heard which is a very Disney standpoint as far as things to focus on. Empowering women and telling the stories of young girls and inspiring them to take the world into their own hands. And that was honestly amazing to see. The actress for Jasmine was wonderful, very beautiful, acted her part well! She definitely captured Jasmine’s defiance of what was expected of her and what she was being told “had to be”. They opened her up a little more with her having interest in the people of Agrabah. The actor for Aladdin looked and sounded dead like him, it was actually a little creepy, I loved it. GENIE WAS FINE, GET OVER THE BAD PREVIEW OF HIS DESIGN JESUS CHRIST! As far as gripes, I only had 3. Two of them were major, one was minor. I’ll go into them under the cut because they didn’t actually affect how good or bad the movie was. Overall, the movie was AMAZING and EVERYONE should go see it!!!! Edit:: ALSO THE “WHOLE NEW WORLD” SONG IS FUCKIN POPPIN!!!!! BEAUTIFUL VOCALS!!!

Okay. I just went to this movie

And you know what?

I LOVED IT!!!

People were iffy about the blue Will as the genie.

I was too.

but he grew on me. Like the second he was introduced as the genie in the movie.

He’s loveable and so funny and his VOICE. It was beautiful when he sang. You can’t tell me otherwise. Will Smith did an amazing job portraying the genie and he made a wonderful genie.

And I liked that he fell inlove with the servant of Jasmine. ( I forgot the name of what she is. So I’m sorry if I offended someone)

I was also iffy about this guy.

I thought “this doesn’t feel right. Javar shouldn’t be handsome right?!” I mean look at him

Is this a handsome guy!? I think not!! (If some of you find this guy handsome that’s alright. You do you.) So I was a bit iffy, but oh boy. The live action version of Jarvar was awesome! He did such a amazing job portraying him and it was really good!

I loved how Aladdin and Abu were protrayed!

image

Abu was cute! and aradorable! He was cool and cute and a super cool monkey.

(Too bad Lago was only a parot and didn’t do much)

I liked the way Aladdin was played. He wasn’t  invincibile to the gold in the cave of wonders and I liked that. And you saw the change in him when he didn’t want to set the genie free. I loved that because to me in the original movie it just came a bit out of nowhere. Not entirely but a part.

And Jasmine

I LOVE HER!!! She has a so beautiful character she is strong and she wants to take care of her people but people won’t see her potential. I Love her. And the song speechless, I got goosebumps. I loved it it was powerfull and strong. A cry from someone who won’t take no more of the bullcrap and going to stand up. Stand up for herself and her people. She’s my favorite character. (A tie with the rug) I loved the movie so much. And I can’t wait for the second part if there’s going to be one.

I loved it and I want to see it again.

So Aladdin is actually pretty nice, definitely doing better than Dumbo imho.

  • Mena Massoud is adorbs, perfect casting, 100% awesome.
  • I have lowkey fallen in love with Numan Acar, 10/10 would hang out with Hakim, he just has that vibe?? Don’t know how to describe it, but he has a vibe.
  • Will Smith looks great when he’s not blue and is really fucking funny. He looks like he’s having a good time.
  • The Genie and Dalia? A fucking power couple. I love them. Go travel the world, you adorable dorks.
  • The cast is generally doing a really good job, so even though I wasn’t happy with some casting choices, I can’t complain about the talent.
  • There’s a giant fluffy tiger in it, always plus points for big fluffy cats.
  • The music is nice. I mean, Speechless??? Fuck me right up.
  • So yeah, I guess sometimes it pays off to have zero expectations, lol. It was cute.

My mind while watching Aladdin

1. “Stop it! You can’t have a crush on Aladdin! That’s your childhood friend!”

2. “Holy shit… Will Smith’s doing a really great job!”

3. ♫ PRINCE ALI FABULOUS HE ALI ABABWA ♫

4. “Fucking stop spilling my popcorn, 4DX!”

5. “Well, this has been the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a while. Thanks, Disney.”

I went to the cinema to see “Aladdin” with two friends. We loved it. Sure is not exactly the same as the animated version but we were so amazed by the colors, the costumes, the bollywoodish flair… We sang to the songs. Songs we’ve loved since we were 9 years old. We returned to that magic. I have no words, truly. I loved Dalia to bits (Jasmine’s handmaiden who has such a sweet special role). And Jasmine was so wholesome… And her ending. OMG. I don’t want to spoil the surprises but if you are a 90’s child, give “Aladdin 2019” an opportunity, please. You won’t regret it. I understand Will Smith is not Robin Williams, and lets be honest, he could never be that brilliant, no one could ever top Robin. But oh my God, the music. It sounds amazing… I’ve always thought that “A whole new world” is one of the most beautiful songs in the history of cinema and hearing it again… Just gave me the chills. I’ve truly enjoyed it, and at last, Jasmine gets the recognition as a ruler she always deserved.

I really needed to feel happy. Completely and utterly filled with joy from enjoying a movie in the cinema again. My first movie since “Endgame” and let me tell you, it was totally worth the ticket price. I felt happy going home. Thank God. A positive experience.

I am so tired of drama, stakes and real dramatic endings and my fave characters dying horrible deaths.

Give me fairytales with happy endings. I need them to survive. Ugh.

you don’t understand the lines “written in stone every rule every word / centuries old and unbending / ‘stay in your place better seen and not heard’ / but now that story is ending” encompass the whole history of women’s suppression under patriarchy and proceed to demolish its power in one line which resonates perfectly with women’s fight for equality today and that’s why speechless is a feminist masterpiece

I just watched the new Aladdin

And…wow, I can’t believe I actually really loved a live action version of a Disney movie maybe as much as the original.

Also Mena Massoud’s dimple was definitely my cause of death.
