I don't really understand people who talk about Mike as the hapless husband, because it's not like Alison is a lot better. Maybe Mike is more goofy about it but Alison isn't really a huge amount more competent than he is when it comes to the house. Maybe marginally in that she probably wouldn't buy a bear instead of some chairs, but also I could totally see her forgetting herself and doing something equally silly.

Thinking about the final season of Ghosts and what we know of the various ways in which they died and how we have a sense for almost everyone.  But not Kitty. No evidence of a wound, never any overt reference to something she finds uncomfortable. We do know, however, that she is very good at hiding. So, my theory is that Kitty was playing hide and go seek with some friends who grew bored, or got distracted and never came to find her. She stayed, waiting, hoping, believing they would come because… surely…? It’s getting dark now, and cold, perhaps they’re playing a game with her, testing how brave she is, how strong-minded. And so she dies, cold and alone, waiting to be found. Hundreds of years later, Kitty is thriving as a ghost, with her friends, who she loves (especially Alison, her very best friend). But something happens. Maybe Kitty overhears a hurtful comment that comes out of context and she thinks it concerns her. All she knows is that they don’t really want her there, just like the friends she had when she was living. She’ll just go and be by herself. None of them will notice. None of them will care. But they do care. The ghosts care so much that Kitty has gone and they don’t know where and all of them (organised by the Captain) rally to go and find her. This, of course, includes Alison, who completely ignores the orders she’s been given and trusts her instincts, follows her heart… And finds Kitty. Alison calls that she’s found her, she’s found Kitty! All of them hurry from every corner of Button House to see her and oh the joy on their faces – even Mike’s, who has no idea what he’s not seeing – it is such a wonder to behold. This, the love of her friends writ large on her heart, is the last thing Kitty sees before she gets ‘sucked off’.

the best part of bbc ghosts is that it's not just silly crazy zany ghosts and StraightFaced People having to put up with them like. the ghosts all sometimes hate each other too and alison and mike are just as bonkers as them sometimes. you must understand that in a muppet version of bbc ghosts like. humphrey's head would be the real person if anything. none of them are free from tomfoolery.
