Sometimes You Fall

@fallingfortheendless-blog / fallingfortheendless-blog.tumblr.com

Remember this. We of the endless are the servants of the living -- we are not their masters. We exist because they know, deep in their hearts, that we exist. This blog is to feed my obsession with all things Sandman/Neil Gaiman/Vertigo. I am trying to find images that I have never seen before, and hopefully neither have you! None of the art is mine unless I say it is.

Draw Everything June - Day 2

I started out really enjoying this and ended up hating it, lol. Too rushed, too cramped of a canvas.

[Image Descriptions: Five photographs. The first is a close up of a young chubby woman (me) cosplaying as Death of the Endless from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series. Her skin is painted white, she has heavy black eye-liner with a curlicue under the right eye, and black lipstick. She’s wearing a black chin length wig in a straight 1980s rocker style and a top hat. Her clothes are black and she’s wearing a silver Ankh necklace on a chain around her neck. In all other photos the same woman in the same costume appears in varying situations.

The second photo is full length, she leans on a black cane, and the costume is clearly a heavy black belt, black skinny jeans, chunky black lace up boots, a black tank top and a black denim jacket, along with the Ankh and black top hat

In the third photo she is flanked by two Warhammer 40k Space Marine cosplayers in full power armour. They are on stilts and thus around eight to nine feet tall. One has painted his armour to theme it around Darth Vader, the other has painted hers to be Harley Quinn.

The last two photos show her in a wheelchair, on stage with lots of other cosplayers, including Catwoman, Batman and Judge Dredd.]

Well that’s my first proper worked on cosplay done! I went to the UK Games Expo on Sunday, and cosplayed Death of the Endless from @neil-gaiman‘s Sandman, and I thought she came out pretty well. I’ve got a few tweaks I’d like to make before Nine Worlds in August, but they’re pretty minor.

I also rented a wheelchair for the first time (see last two photos), and it was a huge success. I’ve never come away from a day out since I’ve been chronically ill, with so many spoons and so little extra pain. Also I was surprised at how much I was able to move it myself, I was expecting just to be pushed by my husband or my boyfriend, but I managed quite a bit of my own movement. I’m definitely going to rent one for Nine Worlds, plus looking into renting one more long term, with a thought to saving up to buy one of my own when I can. Sadly £250 isn’t something I just have to drop whenever, and the wheelchairs that hold my weight start around there, so it’s a save up expense.

If anyone was cosplaying at the Expo and spots themselves in a photo, give me a shout! Of course I’ll take them down if asked.
