Fingertips rubbed against the fuzz of his chin as Cipher appeared
silently before the doorstep. He opened his jacket pocket and took
out the slip of paper--no bigger than a tile square. The demon sighed
contently. Finally. Why did the whole process have to be so... annoying.
Ever since the thought had appeared in the depths of his mind it had
been a bother. Eating away at his brain stem, constantly nagging and
sending sharp bolts of anxiety down his spine. But now, now it was
finally over.
Yes, yes it was true that everything that entered the town of Gravity
Falls was under his protection. The deal still stood, the binding con-
tract between him and the founder still burned in his heart and never
threatened to cease. But the girl by the name of Miller was something
different. For the Cipher had known that this girl was special from the
moment the soul of her boot met with the dirt of the Falls; since their
first meeting Bill knew. April Alex Miller had engraved her name in the
Demon's thoughts, soul and heart. For the relationship the two shared
was none like the Demon had ever seen.
"Guardian" barely nicked the surface of what Bill wanted to be to her.
He knew the depths of Hell from which her past spawned from, he
knew what cruel things this world had thrusted upon her. He knew
the word "family" sent her ducking for cover instead of running to
embrace it. And this new contract which he had made would make
sure that never happened again.
" Merry Christmas, April Alex Miller. "
And just as quickly as he had appeared, he vanished. Blue and gold
swirls cascaded around his frame and sent him to his next destination.
He was never one for petty talks and cute-sy affairs. Bill figured the
sheet of paper would do all the talking for him.
