AGE AT ARRIVAL: Finnegan is approximately 6-7 years old and Frank is approximately 3-4 years old ARRIVAL DATE: February 28th, 2023 BREED: Lhasa Apsos GENDER: Neutered Males ADOPTION FEE: $350 per dog NOTES: Finnegan and Frank are a pair of Lhasa Apsos who came into Hamilton Animal Services as strays. They were severely matted when they arrived, but they were happy and friendly boys. No owner came forward to claim them and we were happy to bust them out of the shelter. Their foster mom took them for a much needed grooming, and now they’re looking and smelling fantastic! Everything went well with their neuter surgeries, and now they’re ready to find their forever homes. Since coming into our care, Frank and Finnegan have had little spats. Nothing too serious at first, but over time, the fights escalated to the point that fur was flying and they had to be pried apart. There wasn’t a clear trigger for their aggression towards each other, but the frequency and level of violence reached a breaking point, and they had to be separated. They’re still living in the same home and can see each other for visits and walks together, but they cannot be trusted to be together full time anymore. After long discussions between their foster family, our vets, and a professional trainer, the collective decision was made to make Finnegan and Frankie available for adoption separately. We know this will be disappointing to some, but this isn’t a decision that was made lightly. It was made to protect the dogs and their caregivers from potential serious injury. Should there be any questions or concerns, Frank and Finnegan’s foster family and the trainer are both available to chat with potential adopters about the situation. The ideal home for both dogs would be without small children, and where there are no cats or other small animals.
