OPI's NYC Ballet Collection

Right when I first saw swatches, I developed a love-hate relationship with this particular collection.  I tend to hate soft or creamy colors on my nails and go for either super bright (I own every OPI Nicki Minaj polish), super dark (e.g. Venique's Black Stilleto or OPI's Here Today Aragon Tomorrow) or some form of glitter. I was slightly annoyed because some of the colors in the NYC Ballet collection remind me of the Pirates of the Carribean collection from last spring, and I don't feel like we need two of the same thing.  For something with as much inspirational potential as a Ballet, I think the collection could have varied much more.   Maybe I'm missing the point.

That being said, I ended up buying 3 of them so far. I keep wanting the perfect gray, so I had to give My Pointe Exactly a chance. My obsession with glitter forced me to get Pirouette My Whistle and You Callin' Me A Lyre? for layering purposes. Being impatient as I am, I tried all three as soon as I got home. The glitter is great. I like the variations in size and how silver/white it is, almost snowy.  The gray is pretty sheer and streaky.  I had to use quite a few coats to get full coverage, and got that "thick" feeling.  The pink was super sheer, as expected, but great for layering with glitter, or if you're looking for something nude.  All the other colors in the line are variations of grays/pinks/whites/purples. It's not too different, but check it out if you're into the nude or soft look.

Pink Chiffon

2011 left much to be desired in in the way of fragrances from Bath and Body Works, but their newest fragrance may make up for all that disappointment. Just in time for Valentine's day, Bath and Body Works is launching a new fragrance appropriately named Pink Chiffon. After reading the notes and description of the fragrance, I figured it was going to be just another sweet floral, eg. Carried Away, Paris Amour, Charmed Life. I was absolutely wrong.  Pink Chiffon is a totally new take on feminine fragrance.

Top notes are mandarin, sparkling pear, peach nectar and wild berries.

Mid notes are tiare flower, jasmine petals, apple blossom and water lily.

Bottom notes are coconut milk, vanilla orchid, creamy sandalwood and chiffon musk.

If you're not a floral/coconut/vanilla fan, don't let the note description scare you.  Even after dry-down, the lotion remains fruity with a touch of sweetness that almost reminds me of cake, or icing. It is definitely a sweet fragrance, so if you're looking for musk or heavy floral, you should probably move right past it. However, if you're looking for something new and different, give it a shot. You can smell the berries all the way through the life of the fragrance, which seems to be fairly long-lasting compared to other recent fragrances.  The scent is light enough to wear to work, but still lasts on the skin just as long as you would expect a higher quality fragrance would last. Right now, the $1.00 2 oz preview is on sale in stores and on their website. If you're looking to try something new, sweet and romantic, I'd say it is definitely worth your dollar.
