NHL Teams as Country Flags: The Pittsburgh Penguins

While at first glance, using a penguin as your symbol may seem odd, the penguin is a feat of evolution and unconventionality, characteristics proudly found in Pittsburgh. The penguin stands tall in black, yellow, and gold. The black is for the strength of the citizens. The yellow for recent riches the region has come into. And the gold for the historic success the area and the people have seen.

I’m so disappointed in Crosby, McDavid, and Pens PR for shutting down a reporter who reached out them to talk about racism in hockey…literally all they had to do is say “racism is bad and we should do something about it” and they couldn’t even do that :/ some ambassadors to the sport :/

i assume you’re referring to this journalist’s story!!! lots of people in the replies are saying that they are players and not politicians, and to just let them focus on playing the game without bringing politics into it. stepping up and saying racism is bad and needs to be removed from the sport the world and/or standing with a fellow player who had a traumatic experience is NOT political - it’s being human. someone also in the replies brought up how sid donated equipment to the indigenous girls’ hockey team one time, and while i love that he did it, i don’t think that’s enough? one good deed isn’t as good as continued, public support.
