I just watched a video that revealed teenage baseball pitchers are getting elective arm surgery to "get it out of the way" so they have a better chance of getting drafted and having an MLB career.

I don't ever want to hear about the 200 or so 17 year olds getting top surgery every year while sportsball parents are making their kids get arm surgery so they can pitch a little better.

Apparently it is child abuse to help your kid drastically improve their mental health and relieve severe dysphoria but if mommy wants a McMansion from her son's pitching arm, surgery is perfectly fine.

I'd also be grateful if I could never hear a conservative talking head say "perfectly healthy breasts" again.

I'm not doubting you, but could you share the source of the baseball surgery thing?

The part about teens getting surgery starts around 14:22.

Apparently doctors are seeing parents bring in kids as young as 10 requesting the surgery and the doctor in the mentioned article says he has operated on a 14 year old and they also mention a sixth grader as well.

There is a belief that Tommy John surgery can make you pitch faster and so parents are trying to get an edge by having their kid get the surgery as soon as possible.

And while the above doctor seems like he has some scruples, turning away the 10 year old, I am willing to bet there are surgeons willing to do it. But the fact that a sixth grader has had Tommy John is ridiculous. We should not be pushing sixth graders to throw so hard they have to put a tendon from their leg in their arm.

Watched Trials and Tribbleations today and… can I just say the comedic genius of having Sisko search through the grain storage for the explosive Tribble and just throw the safe ones down the open hatch which is then perfectly cut to show that same tribble falling down on Kirk?! Unparalleled! Haven’t laughed this hard watching Star Trek since I watched the og episode.

And after they dispose of the explosive tribble and the danger is past, Jadzia casually tosses away the tribble she's holding which lands on Kirk.

Never has a time travel episode been done this well.

The catgirl hasn't even shown up yet and she's all over my dash; but this awesome young orc woman is being overlooked?

Okay with the caveat that I have not personally verified this, but it does appear to be supported by google support threads and their abuse policy--

User sloan_spencer_author on instagram reports that another author they know had their Google docs access suspended for sharing explicit content.

I know that lots of y'all on f1blr use google docs, so I'd encourage you to back up your work locally (on your hard drive/an external drive). I don't know what a good alternative is--I've been using Proton Drive (since I already pay for a Proton email) and I don't see anything in the terms of service about prohibiting explicit content, so. Maybe that and Word or OfficeLibre? Man, I don't know. Our cyberpunk dystopia sucks.

Relevant: when I searched "Google docs ban on explicit work" I found the following link, in which the IT Director for the Tom of Finland Foundation posted about their Drive being monitored for sexually explicit material.

This is so important. People with ID are hardly ever taught sex ed.

Yeah, I went and checked them all out and they are great. Short, but thorough, very good for basic information and excellent starting points for further learning and conversation. I REALLY recommend watching these and distributing them as a resource. The hosts are members of the community, not authority figures, so it really feels like being part of a conversation with peers.

Just a reminder that ableism against personality disorders, especially cluster b personality disorder, is alive and well.

Not having empathy doesn’t make someone evil. It doesn’t make them an abuser. In fact, people without empathy are better in certain vital positions. We’re better at being first responders, 911 operators, and other tasks that would overwhelm empaths. We work better in critical situations than empaths do.

Thinking that any disorder makes someone evil is ableist. And when you take into account the sexist bias in diagnosing women with BPD and the racist and classist bias in diagnosing POC and prison inmates with ASPD and NPD? It’s not only ableist, it’s all kinds of -ists. Plus, it’s really rich for someone who claims that empathy is what makes someone good to have so little empathy for people with disorders that are literally trauma-based.

So yeah if you see someone being a dick to people with PDs? Say something. Because they’re definitely not going to listen to us.

This blog will never stop standing up for narcissists, antisocials, bipolars, and other stigmatized persons/folkel. There is so much more lying underneath than what you see. People don't owe you a perfect performance of neurotypical social behaviour. People don't owe you mutual reciprocation. People don't owe you 'the right feelings and responses'. Also this is a pretty good Youtube channel about NPD.
