Two characters meet each other and they have this unexplained connection to each other, instant chemistry and a yearning for each other. Like they can sense the other, now that they are together.
“You are different, I can feel it. What are you doing to me?”

Loki had only heard about the astronomy club a few days ago and ever since he’d been on a mission to attend a meeting. It was one of his secret passions that he’d mostly treated as a hobby but any chance to discuss space and stars with a fellow intellectual was welcomed. So upon hearing of this club Loki had gathered resolve to perhaps make a friend of like interest.

On the day, he finished up his lectures and made it down to the science wing where it was said to be held. Loki slipped inside the small auditorium and into a chair in the back of the room. The meeting had started already, most members discussing a new publication about supernovae. He listened, not looking to chime in yet though he had plenty of opinions, when his eyes fell on a very familiar face. At the head of the group stood a professor Loki had seen walking around the department. He was a kind looking man, shy, a little disheveled and always looked like he could use a good nap… Or a good fuck. It took a moment to pull his name from Loki’s memory but eventually it was there. Dr Bruce Banner. He was brilliant, talanted, and loved by many students. Loki admired the man, losing track of the conversation about stars to focus on Bruce instead. There was a sort of softness and vulnerability in him that Loki was unfamiliar with but wanted to explore.

The meeting passed quickly and soon people were getting up to stretch. Loki imagined it must have been informative but somewhere between black holes and galaxy collisions he’d lost track of everything but the man at the head of the group.

As others filed out he didn’t want to leave without at least saying something. Loki mustered up blind courage and managed to casually walk up to Dr Banner. “Not bad.” He started, a grin on his face he only reserved when flirting. “You have me interested, Dr Banner. Had I known you led this little gem of a club before Monday I might have come sooner.”

"Professor Odinson to students, Loki to you." He dropped his arms to his sides, relaxing his posture. "I think technically I answer to you. That being said I don't suppose you'd be willing to give the new teacher," Loki gestured to himself, "a few pointers? Every school is different and this is no Yale." of course Loki was using any means necessary now to get the chance to see Bruce again. He didn't exactly have friends in the area and he did actually want to keep this job so what better way than to get on his superior's good side. A war rose within Loki. It was becoming clear that if Loki pushed, something more could happen between him and Bruce but should he?

"So...I've been thinking about painting the rooms. What do you think about some sort of shade of blue?"

Avatar

“That is so…. domestic. Picking colors for paint. I love it. What room? What shade of blue? What kind of decorations? What direction does the room face? Is there a window? There’s a process to these things.”

“I was thinking the living room? Maybe with some white wanescoting on the bottom third? A beach theme? Is that okay? I mean, it’s your living room too. Yes. A window. A bay window. You’re probably regretting asking me to move in now.” She laughed.

“No, no, not regretting…. Yet.” Loki assured her with a chuckle. “But no beaches please. We’re classy, we’re modern. I don’t want seashells and palms. That’s a bathroom theme if I’ve ever seen one.” He flipped through one of the many idea books they picked up over the week. “Why can’t we just hire an interior designer again?” It’s not that he didn’t like Pepper’s ideas, in fact they’ve been great about 95% of the time but he just didn’t see then need for them to do it all themselves.

“Then what about gray? Gray is modern. No seashells. No palm trees. You want to hire an interior designer?” She rolled her eyes, but, clearly, he wanted another person’s opinion. “Fine. We’ll see what a few of them come up with and then we’l choose the one we like.”

"Darling, don't look at me like that." He approached Pep and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Answer me this: do you actually enjoy decorating?" If Pepper wanted this done herself he could understand wanting to put their personal touch on everything instead of bringing an outsider.

“I’m making do with my given situation, Stark. I will never be used to Earth.” He reached the last room and turned back to start a leisurely stroll to the elevator. “I need to have them to summon them. If I kept as many daggers as I’ve owned at any given time on my person’s I would weigh more than a small jet… And look rather silly.” He explained patiently. “Since my capture I’ve been stripped of my weapons what I can conjure is limited in that aspect.” He went on. “My magic is less about physical objects and more about manipulating the cosmic flow around me.” He’d though at the start of his talk to maybe keep the ways of his magic secret but they were all stich with him and Loki though that perhaps if he opened up just a little maybe the team would loosen up. One person at a time.

Tony had his hands in his pockets as he shrugged at Loki’s words. “I can probably make you a little something. If you ask nicely.” He added that last bit, just to tease. Because he’d probably end up doing it anyway, (didn’t need the guy going on a mission with no weapons), but he had to needle a little bit, just on principle. To be truthful, Tony couldn’t help but be a little curious about magic. Sure, it seemed to go against everything he knew in the scientific field, but if it could be measured, studied and analyzed, then maybe it really didn’t. But asking Loki about it might mean the god might just outright lie to him. It was in hid title, after all.

Once in the elevator, he gestured to some more buttons, starting with the one below them. “This one goes to my workshop, which, as you guessed, is off limits to anyone unless I say so. Next twelve or so floors are R&D, not really that interesting. Then there’s a meeting room, which is never used since we just all meet in the penthouse space, and then the lobby. Any questions?”

In the quiet walk to the elevator just after Tony made the comment about being nice, Loki retreated into his own mind to think. One Tony spoke again of the next few levels Loki was only half listening though he did make a mental note of what floor the off limits workshop was on. One never knows when that could be necessary information.

"None but I'll be sure to ask at the most inconvenient times if I think of something." Loki flashed the man his best smile. "Oh, and I am asking nicely, if you can find it in your heart please create something for me."

"You're the reason that keeps me coming back, love. I would spend every day with you if I could. At least loving under one roof gives us a better opportunity to but I miss you terribly when I'm away too."

It was almost amusing how things seemed to work out in life. Just how Loki seemed to notice Bruce and only Bruce after a few minutes, Dr. Banner noticed Loki and only Loki. It had been difficult to lead the club, lead the discussion and the lectures when someone so striking walked into the room. He was the most beautiful creature Bruce had ever seen in his entire life. So creamy and pale with that long ink-colored hair and those gorgeous eyes. How could he look away? And every single time he got a glance at him? It seemed like he was staring right back.

He had a lot of students in the small auditorium. Befriending Dr. Banner, or having him take interest in your work was a one way ticket to stardom. Then it happened. He was gathering up his things in his briefcase and the new face was there speaking with him. His brows furrowed at his comment in curiosity. He looked familiar but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Was he a new teacher, a new professor? Bruce could get so wrapped up in his own science sometimes he shut out the rest of the world. But his cheeks turned red a bit when he was flirted with, his eyes avoiding shyly behind the glasses that slid down his nose.

“ Well, uh – “ He was usually somewhat eloquent. “ Hey, aren’t you the new addition to the science department? “

Both of Loki's eyebrows shot up in surprise at Bruce's ability to just bat away his attempts to flirt with such a simple question but the blush wasn't lost on the black haired man. "Computer science," He added, "but yes." Loki leaned his hip against a nearby desk as he talked, both arms crossed at his chest. "Not that new either. I starter a month before last semester ended, sat in on a few courses to get the feel of how things worked around here." As he said that, Loki looked around the room, taking it all in. There were still a few places on campus he hadn't visited. "But we're not here to talk about me." Bringing the conversation back to the topic at hand the man leaned in ever so slightly towards Dr Banner. "Would you mind terribly if I visit again? It's rare to find someone with similar interests and the students only pretend to like the same subjects to either get a good grade or get in the professor's pants." He grinned, knowing he'd said something not entirely appropriate and likely true for this school if some of the student's looks were anything to go by.

my favourite trope is when both people understand that they like each other but it’s still unsaid between them and they’re not quite 100% sure the other likes them back so they keep having awkward-flirty moments/interactions and don’t know what to do after it happens so they just ,,, look at each other for a moment before changing the subject…and then it happens again
