Isn't this great? The salty sea air, the wind blowing in your face . . . My name's Eric. Technically, yes, I'm a prince, but I'd prefer just "Eric." ---- Member and moderator.of Disney Roleplay

A Helping Hand...Or Two! || Kit’s Ball || Eric and Ariel

Ariel sighed in relief and squeezed his hand, leaning in toward him. She relaxed her shoulders in an effort to let the tension in her body go.  “I’m fine too.” Looking up at him, she smiled warmly, “No worse for the wear! Only my hair’s a bit messier now, but I’ll deal.”  She looked over at the wheel and furrowed her brow, studying it. It looked like it was lodged in between the rocks pretty good. The part of the wheel that was not in the rock did not appear to be broken, at least. It truly was a stroke of luck.  “Do you think we can get it out?”

“Hmm...” Eric shrugged out of his coat, and set it inside the carriage. “Maybe... With a good tug...?” He rolled up his sleeves, and grasped the top of the wheel. With a grunt, he pulled at it. It budged a tad, but Eric’s face was already going red, and he let go. “Whew! Maybe not...” He smirked and wiped his forehead. “Jeez, I don’t want to walk the rest of the way... Not after the fuss I made...”

“Excuse me...!”

Eric whirled around and caught sight of an older man, hurrying over. “Uh... Hi!” He gave a confused, but ever friendly wave.

The man stopped a few feet away, and bent over a bit, catching his breath. “Do you two need help? You look like you’re going to the ball.”

Eric nodded. “Yeah, we are! We’re a bit stuck...” He kicked the wheel lightly with his boot.

The man laughed a bit. “Certainly seems to be the case... Listen, I have a Clydesdale I can hitch up. I bet with the old girl’s help, we’ll be able to get you on your way.”

Eric lit up, grinning. “Yeah! That would be a huge help. Thank you, sir!”

The man nodded. “I’ll go get Shelly then. Just a moment.” He jogged away again.

Eric turned to Ariel, looking relieved. “Sounds like we’ll be on the dance floor in no time.” He kissed her forehead.

A Helping Hand...Or Two! || Kit’s Ball || Eric and Ariel

Eric rode on, smiling in the evening air, trying to keep his eyes on the castle. This always happened in Foix de Lille. Every time he came to this place to visit the palace, somehow, he got lost, or at least seriously sidetracked. This time though, he felt good about their course.

“I’m always excited to go somewhere with you. Especially somewhere with dancing.” He glanced back at her. “Besides that, it’ll be nice to see prince Kit. I haven’t seen him in quite a while.” He went quiet for a moment, recalling the idea of the ball. ‘Every eligible young lady in the kingdom.’ He couldn’t help but to wonder if that girl he met would be there. It was a shame he couldn’t remember her name…

“I don’t think it’ll be much longer. I’m pretty sure we’re getting close.” He stated, as they drove down a dark side street to avoid too much carriage traffic. He didn’t even notice the crack in the cobblestone road until one of the wheels lodged itself in. “Agh!!”

The horses whinnied, pulled to a stop.

Ariel nodded. “Prince Kit…I haven’t heard that much about him besides the little bit of information from the invite. I can’t wait to meet him! What is he li– ah!”  The carriage tilted itself forward, now lodged into the cobblestones on the road. She almost fell forward toward the front of the carriage, but luckily she held her hands out and stopped her fall.  “Eric, what’s wrong?! Are you okay?!” Ariel rubbed her head and pushed the door open. She hopped out and raced toward Eric in the coachman’s seat and bit her lip. “Let me help you…”  She reached upwards and offered her hand.

Eric took her hand and hopped down, a little shaken, but certainly not hurt. “Yeah... Yeah, I’m fine.” He stepped forward to the horses and touched each of their noses in turn, making sure they were alright. He moved back to Ariel’s side and took her hand in his, studying her face. “Are you hurt?”

We’re going to another ball! Oh, it’s been a while since I’ve danced with Eric, especially at an event like this.

Ariel leaned her head out of the window, making sure to hold onto the door closed securely. The moonlight lit the straight road in front of them clearly. Trees lined up both sides of the road and blocked the view of the castle from the horizon for the most part, but every now and then she was able to catch a glimpse of the castle between gaps between trees.

Facing forward, she called out, her voice bright. “How is it going, Eric?” She let out a contented sigh and smiled softly. Eric was so enthusiastic about taking them there himself, so there was no way she could refuse. From picking out which carriage to ride in, to which horses to pull it, to driving them himself, he had been fully invested in the process. “Are you excited?” Ariel brushed her bangs out of her eyes.

Yeah, I actually got an invitation. Pretty gutsy move on Kit’s part, to invite a pariah like me, but I’ll be there. I wouldn’t want to disappoint him, and it’s been a while since I’ve shown my face anywhere. You’re going right? You and Ariel?

Definitely! We wouldn’t miss a chance to see friends, and go dancing!

The Prince Is Giving a Ball!

“His royal highness Christopher Rupert Vwindemier Vlandamier Carl Alexander Francois Reginald Lancelot Herman Gregory James is giving a ball!”
“His Majesty has this decree, to attend the ball all one must have is an invitation and suitably fashionable attire. And the prince shall choose a woman from the ball to be his bride… that means ANYONE can be the queen!”

Good day to you! You are ALL formally invited to Prince Christopher’s ball at his royal palace. His majesty would be delighted for your attendance!

Received a fancy invitation to the Prince’s ball? Didn’t receive and invite but feel like crashing the party anyway!? Reblog this post to let the royal family know of your acceptance! Better hurry, though. Accepting ends on the 19th of February!

“Wow, this sounds great!” Eric exclaimed to no one. “I’m honored, and will most definitely be there.”

OOC: The wedding ship departs at sunset

I already posted most of my blubbering on a-cheery-disposition, but I feel like Eric needs a special goodbye.

Where Mary could at times be heartbreaking, and depressing to work with, Eric was a bottomless well of optimism.

Mary is thoughtful, forgiving, selfish, independent... She is in many ways not only who I am, but who I wish I could be. Eric meanwhile, is giving, honest, cares very deeply for his friends, and never lets the bad times pull him down. The two of them make up my own traits, my wants, my desires, the things I’m ashamed of, and I love them both dearly. Saying goodbye to them both is very hard, but ultimately the right thing to do.

I am still surprised at how much I came to adore Eric. He was never a favorite of mine. Never a favorite character, never a favorite prince... He wasn’t even on my top five. I picked him up to write with curious-mermaid, and was amazed at how much I came to adore him. He is the sort of friend I strive to be.

Still, he will be staying with me in some ways. Some of his adventures are being adapted into original work, so that’s good.

Anyway, I will miss playing with you all as Eric. Maybe he’ll return someday when I have the inspiration for this sort of thing again.

Lots of love,

Floating in a Blue Lagoon // Ariel and Eric

I’m getting close to being gone at this point, so I’ve written an ending thread with the incredible curious-mermaid. I have loved every moment with Eric, and I will miss him dearly.

The evening was cool and mild, just as it had been the first night he’d brought her there a month prior. The lagoon was still -- only agitated when Eric pulled the oars through the dark water, as he rowed them further out between the willows. The air carried the scent of water lilies, and the sound of crickets, chirping in the dark like a miniature orchestra composing a song to introduce the moon.

Not everything was the same, this time. There was no doubt in his mind now that the redhead sitting across from him was the love of his life, and it felt like it took all of his energy not to stop what he was doing, just to kiss her knuckles and remind her for the millionth time just how much she meant to him.

Instead of saying anything at all, Eric blushed, and looked over his shoulder with a dumb smile on his face, focusing on where he was going, before saying anything too foolish, or too soon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ariel held her breath while she craned her neck upwards. The moon, large and full, offered the perfect amount of light for the couple. Besides the occasional soft splash of the oars dipping into the water, she could only hear the crickets chirp and her own breathing. The whole thing was familiar, comforting and exciting.
What was going to happen next? The redhead looked over and gave him a bright smile. “Feel free to give the oars to me if you get worn out, okay? I don’t mind!” She blushed slightly and ran her fingers through her hair. Well...she might not do it very well...but she offered, and it was the thought that counted, right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eric looked back to her and smiled warmly. With anyone else, he would have insisted he take care of it, but with her… Ariel had such spirit, and such passion for new things. Just watching her experience life put a spark of affection through his heart, and he ached to be the one to show her more -- to take her hand, and guide her through. Even in this. He scooted to one side, making room beside him, and held up the handle of one oar.
“Do you want to take this one?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ariel’s eyes widened. Her gaze quickly darted from his gentle smile, to the oar offered towards her, then back again.

“Really? I really can…?!” She leapt lightly from her seat to his, taking care to not rock the boat or turn it over. Her light giggle filled the empty air around them for a moment before she took ahold of it and dipped it into the water. “Am I holding this right?” ~~~~~~~~~~~

“Almost… Here.” Eric let go of his oar, letting it rest on its own for a moment, while his hands moved to rest over her dainty ones. “Move both hands to the end, like this. Yeah. Okay, now I’m going to keep one hand over yours to guide you through it a little, okay?”

He took hold of the other oar again, and pulled them both through the water, letting them slip out at the end. “Just a long, even movement through the water. Make sure you bring it back up, or else it’ll create drag. Can you follow my movements?”

~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though Ariel had held Eric’s hands before many times in the past, their warmth still made her stomach aflutter just like the first time. Just like him, they were strong and gentle. No better words described the man she loved more accurately.
She looked down at their hands and nodded before moving her hands under his, mirroring his placement. Her cheeks burned just like all of the other times, and her smile grew. Biting her lip gently, she continued to stare down at his hand over hers. “Yes! Thanks.”
Thump-thump. Thump-thump.
How was it that he could make her bubbly one moment and so shy the next so effortlessly? Ariel exhaled a breath slowly while bringing her oar smoothly through the water. Her timing was a little off from his, but the motion along the water already felt natural to her.
Almost like swimming against the current at home! ~~~~~~~~~~~
“That’s perfect.” Eric murmured, grinning. Perfect like she was. Perfect like this moment, and every other moment he’d had with her. Perfect like a long, full life with her at his side would be. He looked at her there at his side, their shoulders pressed together as they moved in sync with each other. It was all so right that his heart felt full to the brim, like it could tip over at any moment, spilling all that fondness and emotion he carried within himself. He sighed softly, and leaned over to press a kiss into her thick red hair. “We’re almost there.”
~~~~~~~~~~~

Ariel moved to put her head on his shoulder. Her body turned slightly to face him, but she still kept a good hold onto her oar. It was almost like the two of them were puzzle pieces; she felt like she could fit easily right there next to him. It was definitely a place she knew she belonged.

She hummed softly while looking straight ahead. It was different riding the boat from Eric’s seat. With her back turned like this, she had no clue where she was going. However, things did look a bit familiar… Ariel nodded and turned to kiss his cheek gently. “I can’t wait,” she whispered. ~~~~~~~~~~

Eric blushed a little, and glanced over his shoulder. ‘Almost there’ was right. With a few more strokes of the oars, the pair slid between a number of willow trees, and into a secluded area, hidden away from the world. He pulled his oar out of the dark water, and rested it just inside of the boat, before reaching over Ariel, and helping her pull that one out too. He shifted then, moving to sit across from her, before wrapping her hands in his.

“Do you recognize this place?”

~~~~~~~~~~ “I…” Ariel’s voice trailed off as she allowed her surroundings to sink in. Oh my gosh! It was their secret place, the clearing they found together near the end of their first date. She revisited it often in her dreams, recalling Sebastian’s accompaniment and singing every time.
“I...I remember. When we were finally getting close, before the boat tipped over, we were here. It was so beautiful with the lights and music!” The redhead sighed softly and closed her eyes. “Even though it ended a little roughly...that is one of my most favorite memories. Even though I wasn’t able to say anything to you, I haven’t felt that happy in a long time before that.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eric smiled, and raised her hands to his lips, kissing her knuckles. “Me either… I wish I’d gone for it just a little quicker. Looking back, I feel like I wasted loads of time.” He kissed her knuckles again, before letting their hands down, hanging between them. “Ariel…?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ariel bowed her head, blushing. “Aw, don’t! There was no way you could’ve known about my time limit, if that’s what you mean.” She shook her head and smiled, squeezing his hands gently. “I wanted to get to know you for you, Eric. For that reason, even though I did feel pressure to, well, kiss you...there was no way I couldn’t have rushed you. I felt too much respect for you to do so.” She beamed at him for a moment until he let go of their hands. Smile slowly fading, she gazed at him curiously. “Yes?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~
He watched her steadily, his eyes soft, and glinting a little in the bright moonlight. A crooked smile pulled at one corner of his lips, and he glanced aside bashfully. “... Can I kiss you?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ariel nodded slowly and looked down at her lap, continuing to blush. She absentmindedly ran her fingers through her hair before speaking softly. “You didn’t need to ask, but...thank you.” Smiling once more, she closed her eyes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Eric grinned, his eyes shining with deep love for her. His princess. He took her hands again, and leaned forward, brushing his lips against hers, softly at first, before fitting his kiss to her lips warmly. He lingered there, feeling almost drunk on the moment, before leaning away only a hair, his forehead touching hers. His grey blue eyes gazed at her. “I have one more question…”

One of his hands slipped away, reaching into his pocket.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ariel leaned forward and locked her lips to his with no hesitation. She didn’t meet his lips as gently as he did for her, but that wasn’t who she was. Always charging forward, always acting intensely and passionately instead, she knew she stood out from other women.
Here, she wasn’t any different. Moving herself closer to him, she ran her right hand through his hair while placing her left one on his shoulder, trying to close the gap. If only she could kiss him forever, keep on going and further! Ah, but he was pulling away. Ariel pulled away and leaned back, her eyes big. Immediately, she began to speak. “Oh no...I did too much there!” She squeezed her eyes shut. “I-- Sorry!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No! You didn’t.” Eric grinned and moved his free hand to rest against her cheek, as he pressed kisses to her nose and forehead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ariel exhaled and opened her eyes. “Oh…” She leaned against his hand, smiling softly. “Good! I’m glad.” She looked into his eyes for a moment, allowing herself to get lost in his gaze. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

To hopefully soothe any remaining embarrassment she might have felt, Eric pressed another chaste, sweet kiss to her lips, and then another to her forehead. “Ariel…” He went quiet for a moment, and paled. Everything he had wanted to say seemed to have blown away from his memory, and suddenly, hours of asking Grimsby to marry him seemed wasted. “Uh, I…” He gulped, his face gaining a bit of color again, but all in the cheeks. “Are-are you happy? With me, I mean?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ariel opened her eyes once Eric called her name. Gone was the easy-going smile, and in its place was nervousness. “Hm?” She blinked and gave him a reassuring smile, starting to feel a little worried. Is he okay? I wonder what’s wrong.
Ariel opened her mouth to speak before pausing.
Aw! He’s blushing!
Ariel giggled softly at the sight of Eric’s bashfulness. “Of course!” Leaning forward, she took his hand and squeezed it gently. “Being here in the human world with you, it’s more than I’ve ever dreamed of! You’ve been so kind and patient with me while I have been learning human customs, and you’re always by my side.” Smiling, she continued. “But most importantly, you’ve allowed me to be myself, to be free where I really belong, and accepted me for who I was, a mermaid. I...I can’t imagine being any happier.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eric grinned wide, visibly relaxing. “Me neither… You know…” He squeezed his right hand a bit, clutching the ring in his palm nervously. “You can stay forever, if you’d like…?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Forever? You...you mean…” Ariel drew in a breath, and her eyes grew. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

He gulped again, flustered, and nodded a little. Careful not to upset the boat, Eric eased to one knee in front of her, and opened his hand. He carefully held it up in his fingers -- a silver ring with a delicate marquise cut aquamarine at the center. “Ariel… Please say that you’ll be my wife? Please say that we can spend the rest of our lives together, until we’re old and grey, and…” He laughed lightly, “and can’t even remember anything but being in love with each other. Please?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh...Eric…” She centered her surprised gaze on the ring. For a moment, the world seemed to become even more quiet around her, if possible. The ring glimmered softly in Eric’s fingers before it became blurry in her vision; she started to tear up and clasped her hands close to her mouth.
“I-I’d never thought I would have this asked to me in my lifetime…” she sniffed and chuckled, wiping her eyes. “This is...it’s so b-beautiful, Eric…” She paused to take a deep breath. “Yes! Yes, Eric, yes!” Ariel laughed, feeling her tears go down her cheeks. “Is...is this really a dream?” she asked softly, reaching out toward him with her left hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hands trembling, Eric slid the ring onto her finger, smiling so hard his face hurt. The moment it was in place, he clasped her hands with his again, kissed her cheek, and leaned his forehead gently against hers. “If it is, I hope we never wake up…”
They shared a kiss then, sweet and quiet, hidden away between the trees in a perfect, private moment. He helped his princess get situated with the oar again, and they rowed back out into the open moonlight together, just a little different than before.
“That’s nothing to be proud of,” Hans smirked, gently nudging Eric’s hand. “We’re getting to be a pair of criminals around here, with the rules we’ve been breaking.”
Noting that he was not asked to leave, or go back to bed, or even dragged to the vice principal’s office for questioning, Hans stood from his kneeling position and stepped aside long enough to grab one of the more comfortable waiting room chairs, dragging it right up alongside Eric before dropping into it. Exhausted, and admittedly shaken from their adventure in the swamp, Prince Hans crossed his arms over the edge of Eric’s infirmary bed and rested his cheek on his forearms, letting his eyes fall closed with a slow sigh.
“Geez… Starting tomorrow, you’re mine for the rest of the semester, you got that? I’m guessing they’re not going to let you out of here until your arm gets a little better… So I’ll be right back here after class and to go over everything with you. As long as you’re willing to work hard, I won’t give up on you.” And, after a pause for a weary yawn, “…Okay…? …And before you tell me to go get some rest, save it. I’m staying here with you, so… good night, Dumbmark.”
He couldn’t help it. He had to toss that nickname at Eric, to take the edge off the vulnerability of the moment – but some small amount of affection made it through, too, and there was no venom in the nickname.
Not anymore.
For Munday: If you and your character met, do you think you would get along with them?
Definitely. Eric likes pretty much everyone, and he’s very easy to get along with. He’s genuinely interested in what people have to say, he’s attentive, kind, and likes adventures. I admire that, and he likes everyone, so I think we’d be friends.
For Munday: Why did you choose your muse?
How did I miss this for two months???
Anyway,
Kind of funny. Eric originally wormed his way into my list of potential muses, because Cor badly wanted an Eric, and never seemed to be able to find a long term one. I love Cor’s Ariel, so I decided to take a stab at writing an audition, to see how it went. He actually came very easily to me, and with the addition of Chan having a plot idea for Eric and Hans having gone to school together, I was sold. I submitted the audition, got the part, and I’ve been derping along with this idiot ever since.
What If #2: A Day Out in Town || Eric and Ariel
Ariel looked over at him gratefully and gently squeezed his hand before taking the notepad.  Thank you…  She let out a sigh of relief and beamed at him before looking down at the page. Her name! Easy enough! With a smile, she started to write out her name in animated, quick strokes.
The redhead wrote a bubble, dotting her I, then paused.  …Why not?  Her smile growing, Ariel drew a few more bubbles, filling the empty space around the page before handing it over to Eric.
Eric laughed lightly at her enthusiasm, admiring the extra flair she took the time to add to her name. He took the sketchbook from her and looked it over. “Ariel?” He said it once more for good measure, like he was tasting it. “Ariel... Well that’s kinda pretty. Okay, Ariel...” He grinned and handed the sketchbook back. “Hungry?”
He held up the bread and cheese.
Naval Academy: Everyone Who's Anyone [PAST] // Prince Eric and Prince Hans
Mr. Slinkman looked like he was about to blow like a tropical volcano. Hans’ eyes widened, and he dropped down to a kneel at Eric’s bedside, resting both hands lightly on the fresh cast and looking utterly forlorn in a desperate bid to earn pathos from the vice principal.
“Me too, sir. We’re so sorry. We’ll never do that again, sir–”
“It is far too early for this nonsense,” Mr. Slinkman snapped, cutting Hans off mid-plea as he adjusted his nightcap firmly on his head. “Clearly you boys have broken significant academy rules, by sneaking about the grounds in the dead of the night!” He looked about ready to kill them on the spot, but Nurse Toft lingered close at his shoulder. Slinkman glanced at her, and seemed to deflate somewhat.
“But… erm… clearly the two of you have had quite a night already… Perhaps I won’t have you both expelled for breaking curfew, but…” He glanced at Nurse Toft uncomfortably, before leering down his long nose to glance back down at the two freshmen. “…There will be letters home regarding this incident. And Saturday detention for the both of you! And so help me if I ever catch the two of you out of bed again, I will personally–!”
Slinkman continued on in a sleep-deprived rage, but Hans slowly risked a glance at Nurse Toft, looking so pleased… Hans had to fight to keep the smile off his face. She had said something to Slinkman, to make him take it easy on them – Hans knew she must have – and he couldn’t have been more grateful for her intervention.
Eric nodded sadly. “Yes sir...” But the moment he turned his back to leave, the young prince brightened again, and grinned at Hans. As Nurse Toft ushered Slinkman from the room, she glanced back and gave the two of them a knowing look, before finally closing the door, disappearing on the other side. He took a deep breath and sighed, flopping back down onto the pillow. As the door closed, he felt safe enough to murmur, “That was close... We’re getting pretty good at that, I guess...”
