Kings of Silence

There was a tense moment as the trained warrior’s instincts overwhemlemed social cues. The once informal stance went rigid with possible hostility as the unexpected came about. The darmk tendrils that displayed the Nobody’s summoning too similar in nature to past enimies’ construct. Although as the familiar frame was coaxed into their dwelling and the air was filled with the all too telling voice of a comrade, the elder’s muscles slackened with a bit of relief and allowing a sense to vulnerability to settle within him. The once firm seam of lips parted somewhat, jaw relaxed with the disbelief. The stern gaze raking down Roxas’ form, collecting whatever he could on views alone. Dispelling the slight slack-jawed expression, a leather bound hand smeared over his mouth as uselessly spun words were kept within the confines of not being able to be uttered. Unable to conjure a coherent and uplifting phrase, the barrier the appendage created was dropped and the soft tones only muttered the newcomer’s identity as if some sort of verbal affirmation. “Roxas…”

A toothy grin appeared on the boy’s face as the older blonde reacted to his presence. So, the fact still remained. What truth that floated between them was known only to them in that space. Remembrance. Like nothing had changed at all. “Looks like you haven’t forgotten my name, I see.” Roxas muses quietly, leaning up from off the doorframe he was positioned at. He made his way slowly over towards the ex-SOLDIER and letting his arms fall to the side, raising one as if he were meant to touch what was truly real and breathing before him. A gloved hand eventually found purchase on Cloud’s forearm, squeezing reassuringly as cerulean eyes gazed up curiously from beneath his hood.  “Cloud.”  Just where had time gone and didn’t leave a tracing of passing on the other’s face? To his own? The Nobody stared up at the man for a moment longer before he looked away with a small sigh, but kept his hold on the other’s arm firm. Real. Alive. Fine. Fine, fine, fine. “To think for the longest time that my comrades had forsaken me in my absence…” Roxas’s words trailed off on the last word, sounding defeated and torn. Coming back to familiar grounds only to run into old faces that usually weren’t present floored him. He closed his eyes as he exhaled shakily, that hand of his tightening.  “I’m sorry I haven’t been here.”

The flash of the other's teeth shown in a jovial manner somewhat caught the elder blond off guard, as it seemed almost smug in some sorts. However, it would seem the return of his familiar friend would be full of more surprises to come. The inviting yet patience stance prevailed as he was successful in managing to encourage the Nobody to draw closer at his own pace. Knowing all too well the sensitive subjects of personsl.boundaries. He allowed the invasion of his own and soon decided to respond in kind after replying. Unlike before he was able to formulate words. "You say it as if I would forget." Leather bound digits set out to sneak beaneath the shroud that hung over the boy's head, diving into.the golden sea hidden within. With little effort he cast off the hood in order to freely tousle the other's hair in a soothing manner. Treatment ingrained within the man to express friendlyness as it was the same he had recieved many times back then. A soft exhale causing Cloud's chest rise and fall as an expression of pure relief was painted across his visage. Words tumbling out on the wind of the previously mentioned exhale. "S'not something to apologize for. All that matters is you being here now. Or at all." Roxas had chosen well when it came go who he returned to, the swordsman himself was already infamous with his own prolonged disappearances.

Kings of Silence

Swirling, black masses of darkness formed in the close vicinity of their current standing in the room, close to the window which filtered in gentle rays of sunlight. In stepped forth someone who looked like he hadn’t aged since their last meeting; unruly, spiked blonde hair; a soft, angled face, and impossibly deep blue pools of sapphire eyes that  bore the look of faint indifference upon his arrival. Dressed from head to toe in his usual cloaked garb, there was no mistaking the enigmas before the Nobody that immediately spurred a plethora of memories and past feelings and interactions to form a cacophony of chaos within his head. Roxas looked to the brunette and the taller blonde coolly, crossing his arms and dipping his hooded head down low as he leaned back against a nearby door frame.

”Never thought I’d see the day when our worlds would collide again.” His tone is quiet – cautious, cautious – as if going any higher an octave would shatter the atmosphere around them.

His gaze was defiant as his chest puffed out. Sora was determined to make himself look bigger. It had been quite some time since they had last seen each other after all. Despite that, Sora had barely grown even a few centimeters in height. A whole year older but none the taller. It aggravated the male slightly, but only when he was faced with someone taller than him [which happened constantly lately]. "I'm REALLY sure he'd agree with me. Know how I know? Cuz we're like brothers."

Cue a somersault of his gaze as Cloud was faced with the utter defiance from his companion, though the act was quickly masked by the tall tale deadpan expression he normally wore. The gloved appendage began its retreat, but not before delivering a condescending pat to the boy’s head. “Kindred or not, I’m sure that wouldn’t be the outcome.” A ghost of a smirk beginning to tug the edge of his lips upward. It wasn’t often that he chose to even participate in Sora’s hi-jinks,let alone allow himself to linger once caught within them, but after so long it was refreshing, to say in the least, to pick things up as if there was no gaping absence at all.

"YOU are the wife here!" Sora huffed indignantly. "I'm pretty sure Roxas would agree with me on that."

The line of his sights dipped, the descent drawn out in an almost belittling manner as he set luminescent eyes upon the spunky youngster. As if adverting confrontation a leather bound hand delved into the other’s flaxen locks to share a familiar gesture. Once he gained purchase upon his cranium the swordsman gave Sora’s head a rough treatment, mussing the strands mercilessly. The latter of the keybearer’s words marked some kind of weak point within the blonde and a snort was emitted. “I doubt he would side with you on this one, Sora.”

His hand stilled upon the other’s once the quaking could be felt through the thick material, scratching at his skin as if to signal for Zack to pay better attention to his friend and his needs— something that he was so used to in the days of old; something that he would have to get used to again if he wanted to stay at the blond’s side. Another smile rose to his lips as gazes connected, easy and simple like they used to be, before they descended and came in contact with the pale flesh that stretched against the hero’s forehead, pressing a kiss there as a mother would to their child or a husband to his wife, soothing and filled with a tender kind of love. "Hm… nothing," he mumbled against the soft skin underneath his lips, unwilling to draw away just yet, not until he got a small fill of it, at least. "Missed you, Cloud."

The blond's surroundings blurred with the inhibitor of anxiety that had settled in quite unexpectedly, dulled senses barely registering his adversary's approach until a distinct warmth muddled against his exterior. The fervent need to establish this soothing contact as a constant made apparent by the unrelenting grip the swordsman refused to relinquish upon the other. Leather bound claws clutched the materiel and tugged every now and again as if to bring him closer, ever so closer, and become blackened with Zack's now scorching being. It was as if he forfeited the desperate hold, the man before him would slip and escape through his fingers, that the mere continuous physical connection was what rooted Zack's very existence. The barely ticklish musings of the other's affection caused fair lashes to kiss the pallid complexion of his cheeks as eyes closed to survive the ordeal, yet showing gratitude by meeting lingering lips with a careful nudge. "Missed you too. Thought it was obvious."

Without prior inclination to the youth's intentions, a lone limb extends in his company's direction, leather bound finger singled out in a pointing gesture. Poised above the area where the distinct blemish marred the handsome features -- not quite touching but remaining in a tantalizingly close proximity -- outlining its shape. "Me? Well, 'X' marks the spot."

"Is that one of your roundabout pickup lines meaning you can't help but spot me in a room?"

                       “——Cloud.”

The resolute utterance of the blond's namesake trailing off rose petal lips and coated in the sweet molasses of familiarity dripped slowly in his ears, seeping into his current stream of self awareness. Vision enriched with the illuminate qualities of the toxin that made its home within his bloodstream swiveled to target the source. A worn smile etched into his aloof features. "Still remember me, Lightning?"

"Only when it comes to you, sunshine," he fired back in an instant, hungry eyes drinking in the delicate features of his friend that he missed. The blond always managed to do that to him, even without knowing. Make the elder miss him to the point of insanity, miss him so deep that it leaves an ache in his bones and a gaping hole where his beating heart is. The mere thoughts caused his fingers to ache as well, desperate to find some comfort in curling around lithe hips, dragging him forward till Cloud’s weight was upon him and held him down, to be his anchor. Though, before lines could be crossed and the other retreat into his shell, Zack tossed the thoughts away with another easy smile, a hand raising to pat at the one latched onto his fabric. "Besides, it is really playing dirty when it comes to… this sort of thing?"

The reminder of his rather whimsical namesake bestowed upon him in the past managed to be the hook that had the blond slowly coming forward. Cloud's head rose to better return the scrutiny of the other's gaze, head tipped back a fraction and causing tousled locks to recede from his visage. Twin skies clashed as a connection of shared line of sight was gained, though a thin veil of lashes shielded the youth's as he merely glanced upward rather than head on. The repeated touch caused something in him to give, his grip tightened as it clawed into the fabric and bunched it within a quaking fist, straining the reach of the Zack's shirt as the greedy clutch sought to retain more. Words mumbled in a way that almost seemed as if his lips were numb with toxin of sleep. "What thing..."

Eyebrows lifted at the sound of the noise as a faint smile etched its way across chapped lips, something that was quite foreign to the ex SOLDIER these days. Though, it felt good to finally smile, no matter how small, and to be in rather desirable company— even if it was only one sided. "That was mighty cute of you, Cloud," the taller male teased gently, a hand raising to discard through golden locks of hair, tussling them up a bit in good nature. However, the blond’s words caused the hand to fall back to his side as shoulders moved in a shrugging motion of sorts. "Not always but at least it’s the truth. That counts for something, right?"

The traces of his gaze slammed into the edges of his vision in order to capture a glimpse of his current company, something he found himself regretting instantly as the all too familiar rise of the other male's lips made an appearance. All was lost as it was coupled with hefty weight of Zack's hand mussing the flaxen strands. The tense attribute to his frame dissipating gradually as Cloud neared the realm of security whilst in the proximity of his dear one. As if carrying out the desires of his subconscious, as the mentor's hand retreated, his own grasp surged forward and claimed purchase on the other's sweater. Though despite his actions a scowl was set on the blond's features. "....You play dirty, you know that?"
