Falling Treasure {CLOSED RP- Kairo and Gru}

Keeping up with the man, my head turned to take a glance of who’s behind me; group of 3 teenagers following me and fast. I looked down at my leg and took out my small dagger, regretting ever to use it. Some rude arabic words escaped my mouth as I tried to figure out how to get rid of them before reaching Gru’s car, or whatever that was.

'Close the door! Lock everything!'  Was I serious? Yes. But I wanted to keep the youngsters away from him. These people tend to destroy and take apart everything they see in order to take to their hiding places. None of the faces looked familiar to me, so it’s best for me to take care of them quick and disappear with this man.  As soon as I heard the door lock, my opportunity came to stop my sprinting and deal with these guys. I was smaller, more agile but never perfect on my craft of violence. I took my blows and cuts; nothing serious. To conclude this unwanted meeting, my dagger; now incrusted on one of the boy’s stomach, was something I wasn’t going to leave behind.  Before reaching back, a sudden but small sandstorm took over the area, making it a little impossible to keep a visual track of Gru’s car. An idea popped up and I ran at the same direction of the winds to find cover. When the storm was over, I managed to crawl up to the car and jump over the windshield, hoping not to scare him…

Being a villain-even an EX villain- Gru rarely heeded anyone’s orders. However, the urgency in Kairos’ voice made him obey {Vhat ees she doing? Damnit gurl!} and he reluctantly pushed the same button on his wristwatch.

Hearing the door bolt fast, Gru took the lift up to the cockpit of his vehicle and sat down. Suddenly it got dark and he couldn’t see anything. Anxiously, he fiddled with the controls of his instrument panel and started to feel angry and distracted {Vhy een de fuck am I just sitting here? I can’t see any damn thing. I shouldn’t have listened tu her. Vhere de hell is she…?}

The storm was short lived and as the wind settled down Gru saw a form shoot over the windshield. Screaming and falling backwards off the chair Grus’ wrist hits the floor, unknowingly pushing the unlock button to the vehicle as well as the alarm button. An excruciatingly loud klaxon siren started to go off as well as flashing lights.

Clutching at his head, Gru stumbled back to his chair and he worked feverishly on turning the alarm off. If not disengaged, in a matter of minutes the vehicle would arm itself with an unknown security feature. Cursing Dr. Nefario for forgetting what he installed he could only hope it wasn’t too dangerous to Kairo, who was still outside…

Coughing slightly as I stood up from the ground, scared at the sudden movements from such vehicle. I’ve never seen anything like it. My hoodie was torn up now, I had no chance to cover my face up again if I wanted, I really wanted.  Looking around the big machine while slowly getting up with caution, no glimpse of the man either to match my amazing luck. I placed my hand on the hot surface of the van and traced it across as I walked around it. Eventually, I hear groan coming from the inside… 'Sir…?'

Breathing a sigh of relief, Gru slumped in the chair and heard Kairo call faintly from outside. Fortunately for her, he was able to deactivate the worst of the alarms and weapons that were installed on the vehicle.  "Een here!" Gru weakly called out, pushing an automatic button that popped the door open. He got up from his seat and made his way down to the main door, blinking as the last of the blazing sun sunk behind the ruins, plunging them into dusk. He wanted answers. "Now vhat de hell vas dat all about? And vhere do we go now?"

'Forgive me about that sir! It won't happen again, for now...' I didn't realized my dagger had a few blood drops dripping down the tip after all the small commotion. A quick shake of my hand and I managed to get it from dripping, I could however, clean it with my sleeve but decided not to. My gaze followed up the man before me, contemplating the scenery.  'I could take you somewhere more private sir, but it's late and right now, I can't put up with another ambush' Carefully approaching the vast silver machine, I placed my hands on the hot metal to warm them up quick. The sweet feeling calmed my palms and soothed the pain as well. Without hesitating, I turned and gave it my back as well, leaning against the van to warm up my back as well.

Falling Treasure {CLOSED RP- Kairo and Gru}

It was the hottest part of the day. Not the ideal time of day that one should be digging in a pit open to the elements. The air was still, the heat was thick, and from inside the pit, the grunting of heavy lifting could be heard. Clothed to protect from the elements, a tall man was working methodically on items he had unearthed. Stopping only long enough to grab the right tools from the short table behind him, the man worked until he spotted what he was looking for: a rare stone embedded in the rotting wood surrounding it. Despite being exhausted after such long hours of searching, he smiled broadly, and his eyes take in the sight.  “Aha! I finally found eet! Eet’ll be complete…” Excitement vibrated his body as he carefully pried the stone from the ancient wood. Dusting it off, he practically danced over to where he kept his toolboxes and trunks. Taking out a small metal box to store the precious stone inside, he heard it. From a distance away outside of the pit, the sound of soft footsteps could be heard. Choosing for now to ignore the sound, the man carefully started to pack up the rest of his tools. Blissfully, clouds briefly cover the sun as the man finished packing. His face still frozen into a smile, the man couldn’t believe his luck. Finally happy with his packing, he turns and walks to the base of the ladder that was the only exit.

The more I walked across the calmed dunes, the more I regret having to live afar from the city. The wind favored me this time, blowing from behind, giving me a slight push as I walked. However, it didn’t escaped the fact that small particles of sand got stuck on my face from time to time, this called for proper protection. I took my brown hoody and placed it on top of my head and the remaining cloth was wrapped around my nose and mouth. My sight was a little altered throughout the mounting of clothing and whatnot, moving a little out of course. I could have sworn that I was walking on air for a brief second. My right foot gave a false step, leading to the unexpected. My whole body fell on what it seemed to be an artificial hole. Never in a million years, would there be a crater in the middle of the desert. The free fall took it’s part and wanted me to live so I can tell my descendants. The odd soft surface took all my weight, my face was flat on what it felt to be a cushion; hands and knees weakly trying to explore the surface as I tried to get up. Soft whimpers escaped my mouth as I tilted my head up, my eyes slowly focusing on my surroundings when suddenly a light crack could be heard from behind me. I moved my head slowly to see what it was, when I realized the wooden ladder was about to fall on top of me…

As the man puts his foot on the ladder, an unseen force hits him from above. Landing squarely on his back the man exclaims his displeasure in shock and anger. "Ah! Ow…OW! MY BACK!"  the man groaned painfully "…why me…?" Blinking back his daze, the man notices that what landed on him was a person! He roared incoherently and roughly pushes  the person off of him…just in time to see the ladder break free from the wall towards where he laid. Rolling out of the way just in time, the man quickly jumps to his feet amid the sand and dust kicked up in the wake of the falling ladder. When the debris settled… the scene was of devastation. The ladder had landed on the table breaking all of his tools. It sadly also landed right on top of the small metal box he had only moments before gleefully packed up. The ladder itself was broken into large sections. He stared momentarily at the mess then at the figure, and advanced angrily on the figure, blind rage shaking his body. "Look at what yu deed! Yu broke something VERY valuable tu me! Why didn’t yu see where yu were walking?"  When he got within inches to the figure he furiously reached out  and grabbed the front of the person’s clothing. As he did so, the hood slipped back to reveal the person’s head. His eyes momentarily locked with deep cobalt blue eyes and he lets out a gasp as he realizes that his anger…is towards a woman.

A short yet rather louder whimper escaped my mouth once again at the sudden grip of the male figure before me. I didn’t understood why he was mad at me. My hands quickly took a hold of his chest, gripping gently to push him back to prevent any harm from his part. Despite all the heat from the even, my eyes were still glued to his- I tried to calm him down by telling him to not hurt me, but what use would it be since I was speaking my primary language. Would he understand me? I just wanted him to get off and let me explain. The pain caused by his grip started to harm my arms and I HAD to react right away. Giving up the torment, I lowered my head and whimpered softly in pain, just wanting everything to end.

He noticed that the woman had put her hands on his chest, gripping in such a way to prevent further harm, her eyes maintaining contact with his. In a soothing manner she spoke in what he took was Arabic. After a few words, her gaze drops and a small whimper escaped her lips. Cursing internally for never learning the language, he suddenly lets her go in a fit of frustration and slumps heavily against the wall.

Surveying the damage again from where he was, Gru groans and rolls his eyes…rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"Who are yu? Do yu have a name? I’m Gru." He didn’t stand or offer a hand. With a scowl he adds “Nice way to meet…not…”

As soon as the man released my arms, I quickly backed away to the other side of the crater, giving them a soothing rub while staring at him with fear. As much as I wanted to use my dagger, it was no use since I spotted a weird dark blue artifact inside his vest, could it be a gun? I was never going to with the battle if something popped up between us. I wanted to get out and fast.  I was taught respect and manners at my early age, the least I could do was to greet the man before me and ask him to forgive me. My whole body was still shaking at the feeling of falling; scared. I managed to clear my throat and remove my hoodie to reveal a clean look of my face. My english is rusty, very rusty.  Carefully approaching the displeased man, showing a slight greeting gesture; hand aiming at him to shake it… 'Please forgive me sir, I wasn't aware of my actions… Nice to meet you Mr. Gru, my name is Kairo…'

Gru looked up at the sound of her voice {so she speaks English after all. Dats good.} and saw she had put out her hand.

The thought to use his freeze-ray on her for falling on him was so tempting…but Gru thought better of it. Better to have her help him clean up and get out first. He noted that she was much younger than he had previously thought…and obviously scared.

Grunting, Gru grudgingly got up and put on his best non-intimidating smile and walked closer to where she had just introduced herself.  {I’m getting too old for dis shit…ok ok, try tu be nice for once}. He did his best to appear like he didn’t care about all of his hard work being a loss. He took off his hat and wiped his face with his sleeve, extending the other hand to grasp hers.

"Eet’s ok…Kairo vas eet? Forget about eet. How were yu supposed tu see dis pit anyway? Eet’s not like I had any flags or pit coverings. And by de way, eet’s just ‘Gru’."

Gru gestered at the sky with his hat while saying this and saw that part of the pit wasn’t as deep as the rest of it.

"Listen, why don’t we clean up and get out of here? Eet’s getting dark soon and I’m not sleeping in dis place." Gru walked over to the wreckage and started pulling pieces of ladder from off the top. Keeping a poker-face with every ruined tool and artifact he found, he wondered in dismay how he would find more tools on such short notice.

'…Um, if it's of any emotional compensation; I can guide you to a restricted section where other archeologists go to. You don't seem like an ordinary one to me… You'll find good “treasure” there.' Feeling sorry is something I rarely expressed since I don’t have much interaction with other people.  I carefully followed the man and helped him rebuild the now destroyed ladder. It was the type of rustic item to build fast; I have a few of these back at my place. Climbing up and extending my hand to help him up and out; my eyes quickly focused at the horizon before me, watching a small group of people at a distance. This wasn’t a good time to be here alone, I needed to alert the man and fast.  'We need to leave this place, now!’

Intrigued about her offer about guiding him to a restricted section, Gru notices the hint of urgency in her voice. Turning his head to where Kairo was staring he saw the unmistakable sight of what every archaeologist fears: sand thieves! {Fuck! I have to get dat box, maybe dhere is something to salvage from it? I’ll look later}

Quickly dashing back down the ladder, Gru grabs the ruined metal box full of the now crushed stone and desperately shoves it into his satchel. Once securing it onto his back, Gru bolts back up the ladder, taking Kairo’s hand and hoists himself up.

Wasting no time, Gru sprints towards some ruins where he hid his vehicle earlier.  Panting he calls over his shoulder "My van ees hidden over dhere behind de pillars!"

While running, Gru pushes a button on his watch and turned the corner. An engine roared to life and a door popped open "Watch your step!" Ducking inside and placing his bag on the floor opposite the door, Gru steps on a platform and motions impatiently for her to follow him quickly.

Keeping up with the man, my head turned to take a glance of who’s behind me; group of 3 teenagers following me and fast.

'...Um, if it's of any emotional compensation; I can guide you to a restricted section where other archeologists go to. You don't seem like an ordinary one to me... You'll find good "treasure" there.' Feeling sorry is something I rarely expressed since I don't have much interaction with other people.  I carefully followed the man and helped him rebuild the now destroyed ladder. It was the type of rustic item to build fast; I have a few of these back at my place. Climbing up and extending my hand to help him up and out; my eyes quickly focused at the horizon before me, watching a small group of people at a distance. This wasn't a good time to be here alone, I needed to alert the man and fast.  'We need to leave this place, now!'

Falling Treasure {CLOSED RP- Kairo and Gru}
