However, you are not perfect either and it not your job to dictate who gets to speak and who doesn’t. Can you imagine how fucked we would be if groups you disagreed with banned freedom of speech? And the answer is yes, of course you think we’d be fucked. But you need to realize that in their eyes, when they ban freedom of speech they are heroes just fighting the good fight and doing what needs to be done. Exactly like you. 

When you silence and punish for criticism you show that you are willing to force your values and beliefs down others’ throats instead of let them think for themselves. You become dogmatic and closed-minded in that you refuse to consider any perspectives except the ones which reinforce what you already think.

If you don’t like what someone says, use your freedom of speech to argue back instead of censor them. Take action if they begin threatening your safety, not if they merely offend you. But if you, or anyone, stop people from merely questioning what you believe and explaining why they think it’s wrong, you become a tyrant.
