You rub your arm, wincing a bit. Looking at your hand, still with glass shards in it. You start to pull the glass from your hand.

“I wear sweaters because they make me feel safe… And they comfort me when I get hurt, which is quite often, as you can tell…”

You start placing the removed glass in a pile on your sweater.

As he began picking the glass, Nepeta sat up straighter, before hopping off the bed and going towards him. She quickly but carefully took hold of his hand, clicking her tongue in an odd pattern, and she slowly pulled out each shard of glass, dropping it onto the floor. Cats came by twos and threes, picking up the pieces and trotting off with them, as she finished pulling the window pieces from his arm.

“That looks horrible.. Here, let’s go in the bathroom. I need to disinfect it, and wrap it before they bleed all over the place.” She knew the poor guy was in some pain, and led him to her bathroom, where she began cleaning off his arm, watching the slight blue droplets appear in each small hole from the glass.

“You should be more careful.. Blood like yours is valuable. You shouldn’t waste it.”

You stare at your hand as the troll removes the glass, not showing pain or discomfort. You're used to getting hurt and damaged, it's all part of your job and you've just accepted it as a part of your life. You look down as she mentions the value of your blood.

"It's not valuable. Hell, I'm not all that valuable. I still do what I can to help others, but I'm just a pair of hands at the end of the day."

So I really need to get this blog moving so can you like/reblog if you’re comfortable with interacting with a Steven Universe RP Blog?

honestly I go either way. I’m pretty good on the fly but I like plotting too.

“And yes, blue blood. Maybe not for you, but blood means a lot to the troll race. Blue is strong, not as strong as purple, but we blue bloods take pride in our hemospectrums.”

You smile a bit at the cats affection, crouching down and gently petting them. A bit surprised actually, considering everything you touch breaks or gets damaged. Looking up to the troll, you smile at them.

image

“Thank you, for taking me in. I didn’t mean to intrude, or bring harm to your cats. I’m sorry if I came off that way.. I usually do.”

Looking down, your smile kind of fades.

image

“Also, this place is nice.. Way better than mine..”

Nepeta went over by her bed, sitting on the edge and watching her cats disperse, laying on the other spare beds, under them, and into the one snuggle pile in the floor. “No worries. And yeah I.. It’s an alright place. I needed a lot of space, and a lot of space away from City.” Nep never really trusted the people there, and she had good reason..

“They leave cats all over the town and they’re.. they’re left to fend for themselves. Around cars, stray dogs, various dangerous things.. I take them in and protect them.” Realizing she was beginning a rant, she blushed a bit, her cheeks tinted olive green, “Sorry. I get worked up about my children. They’re all I have.”

image

Walking into the room, you find a spot to lay down. Without thinking you remove your sweater, dropping it to the ground next to the bed. You gently sit down on the bed, being careful not to break anything. Laying back and putting your head down, you stare up to the ceiling.

Hearing them talk about their cats in such a caring tone makes you smile. It’s nice to hear. You can’t say that anyone cares about you like that, or, for that matter, that you have anyone to care about like that.

image

“I understand… But why exactly did your cat need my sweater in the first place?”

She kicked her feet, watching as the other troll laid down, she herself scooted up her bed and flopped back. She covered her eyes with the sleeves of her sweater, yawning loudly as she got comfortable.

“Ah well.. It’s getting close to winter, and they worry about me being cold during the snowy months. I’m sorry about that. Why.. do you wear sweaters in the summer?”

You rub your arm, wincing a bit. Looking at your hand, still with glass shards in it. You start to pull the glass from your hand.

(A troll..? Green.. Catlike.. What’re they doing out here?)

You see the sweater being handed to you. As you reach out your hand, you speak.

“U-uhm.. S-sort of…?”

Getting more nervous, you start to sweat more and shake. You take the sweater and immediately put it on, not minding the cleanliness of it. Feeling it harder and harder for you to speak, you start to stutter.

image

“I-Its n-n-not important… P-per s-say.. I j-.. Just w-wanted it b-back..”

You become flustered and start to back away.

image

“S-s-sorry… I.. Should go..”

Nepeta watched, amazed a bit, as the blue blood stuttered and became flustered. She looked up at the sky, sighing, cats trotting back to her hive. “Look, weirdo. You’re all sweaty and wearing a damn sweater. It’s also dusk, and you shouldn’t be wandering the forest.” She raised an eyebrow, “Although I have no doubt that you could defend yourself, you probably shouldn’t risk it, being as important as you must be. Feel free to come inside. It’s full of sweater thieves though, so I suggest keeping yours closeby unless you’re okay with losing it again.”

She turned and headed into her hive, the blue tail dragging behind her bare feet as she hurried the cats into her house as well. ‘What the hell is a blue blood doing here?’ To her kind, they were considered royalty. Or aristocrats at the least. He shouldn’t be chasing a stray sweater-stealing cat through a forest. She stood in her front room, sighing as she faced the male again. “Welcome to my hive, blue one.”

image

You look around at the forest. Not really knowing where you are, you decide they’re right. There’s no way you’d be able to find your way home anyway, much less want to deal with things out here in the forest. You walk toward the cave entrance, walking through the opening. Looking around at the layout of the place, you become interested.

image

“Wh-what are you doing out here, anyway?”

Looking down, you see a few cats migrating toward you, rubbing against your legs.

Nepeta gave a soft chuckle, watching her cats surround the new one, purring and being welcoming, while she stood pouting about him existing at the moment. She crossed her arms, and walked around the first big plush hole in the ground, “I moved to Earth, didn’t like the City. So when I got lost in the forest, I found a mountain, and uh.. Well I dug it up. I had help, of course.” She sighed a bit, “I have a room over there,” gesturing at the first room on the left of the circle of a front room, “Has plenty of beds. Take whichever you want, except the largest bed. That’s for me and my cats.”

She didn’t mean to sound quite as cold as she did. She was normally welcoming to visitors, but he had frightened her cats. Plus, for some inexplicable reason, the blueness of his blood bothered her. Back on the home planet, she could have been killed for looking at a blue blood the wrong way. Perhaps a little fear crept into her veins, making her scratch a bit intensely at her wrists.

“But yeah uh, make yourself at home. As much as you can, in a dump like this, that is. Sorry for the, uh, mess..” Her cats rubbed around her legs, she patted their heads, smiling own at the furry maniacs.

You smile a bit at the cats affection, crouching down and gently petting them. A bit surprised actually, considering everything you touch breaks or gets damaged. Looking up to the troll, you smile at them.

You make for the cat as it gets caught on the window, just barely missing it as it escapes out your window. Just as usual, though, you overstep and punch your window out. Shards of glass embed themselves in your hand, but you ignore it as you try and track down that cat.

You spot it as it sprints into the forest, you hop out the window and make after it.

“Cat! Come back! Please!”

Making your way through the forest, your sweater gets caught on a branch, somehow flipping you around and out of it. You land on the ground and tumble a bit, landing in some dirt and leaves.

image

(Oowwww.. Mother f-)

You manage to get yourself up, brushing off and looking around, not seeing any sign of your sweater or that cat. Looking back you see your sweater that you were wearing was way too torn to try and save, so you leave it behind. You start to wander, calling out for the cat.

“Pssspssspsssst, come back kitty, please?”

Nepeta glanced outside, noting the sun going down and no sign of at least three of her main squad of cats. She called around her hive, getting replies back that they weren’t home yet. Worried, she walked around the small clearing near her house.

At the moment, Gary ran up with a deep green sweater in his mouth, tearing at the ground as he ran towards her, startling her temporarily. She bent down as the cat reached her, lifting the sweater and frowning, sniffing at the fabric. “Gary what.. Where did you get this?”

The older tabby looked back behind him, and she could see Boo, one of her smaller adult cats, running as fast as her short little legs could manage. Nepeta held the sweater and trotted towards her, but soon heard a voice.

‘…back kitty, please?’

image

Nep called out while walking, her stance in the defensive to be smart. “Who is that? Why are you chasing my cats?!”

You hear a voice and stop. Looking around to trying to see who’s out here. Guessing the general direction the voice was coming from, you start walking towards it.

Crawling through thick branches and around large overgrown vines, you continue to call out.

image

“H-hello? I’m looking f-for a cat? It kind of ran off with one of my sweaters!”

Making your way through more trees, you start seeing cats roaming around. Soon, you notice that there are way more cats than you can count, and eventually, you see a figure in the distance walking towards you. You stop and try to gather yourself, but are still nervous and a bit sweaty. You call to the figure.

image

“U-um.. Hi?”

Nepeta walked closer until the chaser was within eyesight, frowning as she stepped forward, and slightly glaring at the male. Realized he was a troll though, her head tilted curiously at him. “You.. You’re chasing my cats over a sweater?” She held up the piece of now-filthy cloth, holding it out to him. “Hell of a long way to go, just for this. Important sweater, I assume?”

image

She couldn’t hide her annoyance. But still, she also couldn’t blame the blue blood for his persistence. Others would have shot her cats for stealing the things they stole, but he merely wanted his sweater back. That wasn’t too much to ask, now was it?

The mission should have been simple. As summer was getting closer to ending, the cats of the colony were starting to pick for fabrics and clothing for their miss to keep warm during the cold winter months. Boo was well trained, and stealthy, but she couldn’t deny that even her amount of sneakiness would not help her steal from a troll.

Peering through the window, she spotted the target. A large male, blue blood, who for some reason had an abundance of sweaters. She walked around the edge of the building he lived in, a beat up old apartment, and found the window she had pried open the last visit. Pressing her body down, she managed to slither her way into the place.

Carefully she stayed against the walls, following the odd design of square rooms, to find the one where his clothing was kept. She leapt onto the dresser, pushing her paws into and opening a drawer, easily finding a huge collection of wooly, warm clothing. Boo congratulated herself, biting down on one particularly green piece, and dragging it down, making her way towards the window.

Finally, you’re off the clock from your second double shift in a row. ‘It’s hard work but it needs to get done’, your manager always says, but you don’t see him moving the hundreds of pounds of scrap metal and junk that has to now be done by hand. It’s not your fault, really, its his. After telling him time and time again that you can’t be trusted with expensive machinery, he should have thought twice before making you climb on top of the crane to fix a jam in the wire. Stupid, stupid. Ah well, your next pay check should be pretty decent. Plus you don’t mind the extra hard work, anything to keep you in top condition physically.

After the long walk home from your job across town, you arive at your apartment door. Reaching for the keys in your pocket, you manage to fish them out from beneath all the loose metal and bolts. You should really remember to empty your pockets at work, or at least stop putting things in your pockets.

You unlock your door and walk inside the dark apartment. Tossing the usual keys and scrap from your pockets into a bowl. Getting to the light switch, you flip it on. The lights flicker a bit before staying on.

Sighing, you look up to your usual messy and broken down place. But, somethings off.

…..

(Is, is that a cat? Whats a cat d-.. Is that my sweater!?)

“C-Cat! No! That’s not yours!”

image

The fur on the back of her neck stood up, and Boo turned her head and hissed, it getting muffled by the fabric of the sweater. Leaping up to the window, she slid herself underneath, but got stuck with the sweater, tugging and yanking until she managed to sprint.

As she was free running, she began letting out her howls, small cat mews that alerted the other cats of the forest colony to her arrival, and a warning that a troll had caught her red-pawed. Quickly enough, Gary came from the trees, running alongside the small one.

<What were you doing you idiot?!> he managed to tell her, along with his heavy breathing of his sprint, <We need to stay hidden! What happens if the troll catches us? What of our Miss?> he growled, frustrated. He snatched the sweater from the fat female, and sprinted ahead of her quickly, moreso than she could have done. She continued running, glancing behind her at the troll chasing her.
