Reblog to have something good happen at 1:42 tomorrow

I saw this before I left work last night and had a quiet hope, and today I checked my phone at about quarter to two, while I was still on my lunch break, and I’ve just got a job interview with the BBC next week

I’m not a big believer in anything much but I’m so happy holy shit. So like unrelated note but something real good happened to me at 1.42 today lol

I’ll play

i may sound stupid but im being totally genuine here and not even exaggerating when i say that looking at michelangelo’s work in person makes me believe there may be a god

like i truly feel that if god had touched any normal human ever (aside from prophets and such), it’s michelangelo. it’s one thing to see his work in a textbook or online, but seeing it in person rly rly humbles you.

his david sculpture? i felt small. so small i was tearing up at it. david’s hands are so detailed and the furrow in his brow tells an almost “lost in troubled thought” moment, and the veins that show throughout his hands and arms and feet really make it feel like there’s life. there’s life in that piece. and a human man—one who made david’s hands and head slightly proportionally too big, and with this imperfection reminds you that it’s still made by a human—instilled that life into him. just look

the sistine chapel? ive never felt so completely connected with the world due to a human-made thing. i often feel connected with nature v easily, but as far as human-made stuff, it’s hard for me to get into that mindset sometimes. with this? i had no problem at all. i not only allowed myself to feel small from it, i wanted to.

they say that michelangelo heard the marble talking to him. that they said “free me.” and he did more than just free them. he gave them fucking breath. like i truly stand behind this: michelangelo was a miracle from God if He exists

also he was gay so miracles of art are hereby declared lgbt culture

I explained [to Luke] the weekend was entirely my fault, partially. And he wants to go out with you tonight.

There were two professors like this in my department and I was one of like 20 people who was taught by both of them so there was a very small gang of us who knew that Professor Brick Wall and Professor Overshare were married with two kids.
