Not fond of snow

My name is Dominik, and I serve the Duke of Weselton as a dutiful bodyguard. I can assure you that there's nothing to see here. Move along. A Frozen RP/ask blog for the Duke's thug with the awesome facial hair, dubbed as 'Dominik'. Don't take this blog too seriously. [current M!A: none]

The night was cool along the beach, and perhaps Dominik would have taken the time to appreciate the feeling if he had not been so determined to find Adara. After a few minutes of search, he spotted her alone at a sand dune, and walked, somewhat cautiously, to where she sat. "Adara?"

Zzzz—snk! Wha—did I fall asleep sitting up again? *Adara raised her head, but only for a moment. In her current state, she wasn’t certain if the guy speaking to her was actually there, or if she was just dreaming

She opted to be polite, whatever it was.* Yeah, Dominik. What izit?

*Her greeting finished, the woman in red decided her task was complete, and flopped sideways down onto the sand dune. Snores soon followed.*

"Just the ones leading to and from his private chambers." In the dark, Adara almost smirked. "The other ones I found off and on when I…or we, went snooping."

She shrugged at his last statement. “Well, you said so yourself. It was a different time.”

He could hardly believe that things had been so different, that the Duke had been so different, and yet at the same time it wasn't surprising. Even now, the Duke was subject to acts on sudden whims and switch from personality to personality in a matter of seconds.

Why Adara was still interested in the man, Dominik didn't know.

"Did you always sneak in here, or were you every a guest?" The guard didn't mean the question to be rude, but instead to settle a light curiosity. They had some time to kill before they found their destination, anyway.

"You should leave. Now."

Elsa froze when she heard that. Her gaze was steely despite the fact that her hands trembled as she raised them in defense. There was a thin layer of ice already radiating from where she stood.

"No, I think you should leave. I don’t want to hurt you, but I will defend myself and my kingdom if I must.”

Elsa could have sworn that her heart dropped into her stomach at the Duke’s words. And it seemed that her confidence was melting away, despite the fact that the room around her was getting colder by the second. She couldn’t find the words to reply or argue or even beg, as though her brain was as frozen as her hands were becoming.

It was bad. Very, very bad.

When the Duke retreated back down the hall, something inside of Elsa broke. For an agonizing moment, she struggled in vain to take a breath, and the air around her was becoming heavy with falling snow. When she did manage to inhale, it was a shuddering, gasping sound, and some part of her mind told her that hyperventilating wasn’t going to do either of them much good. That voice of reason got louder when Dominik spoke up, and it sounded suspiciously like Anna telling her to relax. What would Anna say? Elsa thought to herself, forcing her mind to focus on anything other than her current situation.

It’s alright, Elsa. You can think of something, I know you can.

She wasn’t sure if she should listen to Dominik, but no matter what, Elsa trusted Anna. The murmur in her head fell into silence as the Queen calmed herself enough to turn around and face the Weselton guard.

"We can’t," she replied, sounding far more desperate than she had intended to. "If the Duke finds out, he’ll kill them. And then he’ll kill us."

The small blizzard picked up again, and it took a monumental effort to quiet it down.

"I’m sorry, I don’t… I don’t know what to do."

The snow was sudden and thick and Dominik knew it was correlated with Elsa's frightened state of mind but he didn't have any clue what to do about it, he'd only ever really aggravated the storm before and even that had been just once. Somehow, though, his words had managed to cut through the storm and slowly it died down enough that the two people could look at one another.

Taking charge of a situation, however, was something the guard was fully capable of. "Figuring a way out of here would be a good start." But that could get her other men killed. "And we need to decide, if and when we get out, what we'll do with the others," a quick glance back at the men, who were still out, well, colder than before, now, "leaving them here could very well be a mistake."

But that was hardly a plan. They needed somewhere to start. "Knowing where your other men are would take some asking around, and we'd have to do that quickly, lest the Duke find us missing."

That's Not My Name || Dominik and Aurora

"No, this won’t do. You must have clean water somewhere. Or if not that, actual food." What did these men eat? Just meat? Aurora was a vegetarian. She wouldn’t last on this ship. Not if all she could eat was pie. Grabbing the very few vegetables, she went in search for fruit again. Grabbing a few apples, she sat them on the table, and would wait to slice them for a while.

In the meantime, she rolled up her sleeves and began working on the pie. Dominik had done a good job on the dough. “Position? Well, I’m a princess.” Her statement was simple, and nonchalant. Like people ran into princesses every day. With baited breath, she waited to to see his reaction.

"Well," he thought about it for a minute, "you could always boil some of the cleaning water, though I'm not sure that'd be too good for you." Aurora's piteous attempts to gather healthy foods were sad to watch, but amusing at the same time, and Dominik said nothing. If she's so dead-set on making this dish, he figured, then I won't stop her.

"A princess? That could explain it." He'd been around his fair share of royalty during his time working for the Duke, and he'd been around long enough to know that the Duke's favor regarding those royals had diminished greatly over time. "Have you had any contact with Weselton prior to this... engagement?"

Elsa didn’t bother listening to most of what the Duke said. She caught the gist, especially when he referred to her as a witch, but her attention was almost entirely focused on what the guard was doing. When he called to her in a whisper, she quickly turned around and moved back towards the source of his voice. If he’d found something, anything at all, Elsa was desperate to know about it.

But then the Duke was speaking again, and this time, she listened. Not wanting to believe his words, the Queen reached down a hand to lightly shake the shoulder of one of her men. Sure enough, there was no response. And at that moment, the imagined feud, the fact that she was locked in a dungeon, the animosity between the kingdoms, none of it mattered.

Innocent people had been dragged into a fight that wasn’t theirs in any way. And Elsa would not allow such a thing to happen.

She straightened back up and paced towards the door, a million threats swirling like a storm in her mind. The storm seemed eager to reflect itself outward. As she walked, ice crept across the floor and up the walls. For the first time in her life, Elsa hoped the person on the other side of the door could see it.

What did you do to them?” she hissed, voice as cold as the ice that was radiating from her. “I’ve made it out of prisons before, don’t think I won’t do it again. I suggest you tell me, right this instant, what you’ve done to my crew, otherwise you’ll wish the storm in Arendelle was the only thing you had to deal with.”

Never in her life had Elsa planned on using the accidental winter-in-summer as a threat, but she was filled with the same rage that had taken hold of her in her ice palace. Only this time, there was more than her own life at stake.

The Duke feigned, rather poorly, shock at Elsa’s sudden rage. “Now, now, there’s no need for that! Your men have simply passed out, an unfortunate side effect to the medicinal cocktail delivered to them to shut them up. We couldn’t have too much attention drawn down here, oh no. They’ll be perfectly fine in a few hours. It’s the others you should worry about.”

"This is getting out of hand," Dominik growled. He had managed to prop the men back against the wall to lessen their contact with the grungy floor but still they did not move. The explanation, he hoped, was at least truthful.

Now the Duke addressed him. “Oh, yes, I full-heartedly agree! Things need to move more smoothly if everyone is to benefit from this deal.” Then back to Elsa, “I know you’re more than capable of breaking out of there, my dear, which is why I’ve got the rest of your crew stowed away somewhere special. I won’t tell you where, that would take the fun out of things, but I will tell you that one wrong move may condemn them to the ocean. If I were you, I would consider my words very carefully while Fritz and I go off to prepare. Don’t go running off!” the madman ended with an over-jocular laugh, and then he turned from the door. The last thing Dominik saw was Fritz, giving one last glance over his shoulder as if considering the situation, and then the two disappeared back through the doorway at the other end of the hall.

"We need to find a way out of here."
