An unpleasant family reunion
The twins backed off as Sergei took a very defensive position as Anya hid behind him. They weren’t interested in causing any trouble for the two. They had only come along to talk.
Danny didn’t like the glare he got from Sergei, nor did he like being compared to his father even by appearance. “Eh? I’ve never even seen your face before, kid.” Danny spat out. He was trying very hard to ignore the words ‘whats’t to you if I am’ because he was itching to pick a fight he knew better than to start. “Why’re you even here? I came to speak to my sister, not her overprotective guard dog.”
Anya herself practically choked at Sergei’s remark. She could feel her cheeks and ears burn and she felt suddenly grateful she was standing a bit behind Sergei. “P-please don’t say things like that Sergei…” She peeked out from behind him to talk to her brother in English. “Sergei’s a friend and he’s saved my life twice so just… be nice okay?”
Danny opened his mouth to protest, but he shut his mouth pretty quick with an annoyed ‘tch’. He needed to actually be able to talk to Anya and picking a fight in the middle of a military base isn’t the way of going about it.
Sergei didn’t know English, so when Anya switched over to it he just stared off. Whatever she said seemed to spare them a scuffle. That was good at least. Sergei didn’t want to admit that he still felt weak from the encounter just mentioned.
“She’s in protective custody.” Sergei reminded. He stayed close, but tried to let them have their talk.
Though, before that happened, his head turned to Anya.
“Whatever is said will be known to t’ your case. Will be used for y’ case.”
