Guitarbage knows me all too well, this is beautiful. Look at that massive cutaway. The Floyd Rose. Stealth bomber inlays. Wait a minute. Waaait a miiinute! Holy crap there's only ONE pickup! ONE! 36 frets! OH MAN I'm DROOLING! Seriously, I've always wondered if there was a guitar out there with only a single bridge pickup and just an extra long neck. This is amazing.

I picked up this album in a super cheap bin at The Warehouse back in 2001. It was one of the most surprising albums I'd ever purchased. Going by the album cover I had expected muddy-sounding death metal with ruptured esophagus vocals and subterranean production. In other words, more of the usual stuff I listened to back then. Upon playing the CD I was stunned. I was probably even a little disappointed too, until maybe the second time I listened to it. The song I picked was the first one on the album, as my impression stemmed from there. The riff in the beginning was nice and heavy with good harmonies. Then the prog elements kicked in. I'd been a fan of Dream Theater and Death for years at this point so hearing something new in that vein that actually wasn't very far off talent-wise was stunning. The album sounds amazing, and definitely has the early nineties prog metal feel; the heavy bits are heavy and the prog portions are often evocative, even at times airy, but still with the metal edge to it. It foregoes the not-uncommon trappings of a falsetto vocalist, instead employing a gritty tenor sound. This has been a favorite album for a long time, and for good reason.

1- Aside from only the heaviest of metals, I also listen to polka, banda, screamers and old jazz (made before WWII). I don't do it ironically or because it's unpopular, but because they're genuinely enjoyable styles of music... and they remind me of Bugs Bunny cartoons...2- Here's a couple of foods I really or generally don't like: corn, peas, coconut, avocado, onions, papaya, dark chocolate, stews, celery, honey, molasses, gingerbread, cornbread, spiced rum, pickles, tuna, perhaps others which slip my mind at the moment. Rather than respond with incredulity appreciate the fact that there is more of it for you and if we're sharing a meal I'll give you the parts I dislike with no expectations of reciprocation3- The fact that there is an allowance for a certain percentage of pus present in milk pretty much turns me off from drinking it, but chorizo being made from the lymph nodes and salival glands of a pig is not even remotely a deterrent for me4- Over the past several years I have gotten really picky about movies and generally don't watch any alone as I'd much rather read or write or socialize with people in some manner5- As per the wiring of my brain, I can pick up an instrument and learn to make pleasing sounds with it in a manner of minutes, and I have a strong interest in learning languages and their history6- The flip side of my love of language is that when I read or hear someone making a grammatical error that isn't stylistic simply out of common error I do, with great difficulty, refrain from correcting them as I know it would come across snooty or condescending when in all actuality it would be intended purely as informational and non-formal conversation. For example, if someone were to tell me they felt nauseous, I would inform them that by saying they were nauseous it means that they cause nausea and that instead they should say they feel nauseated at which point they would puke all over my shoes7- I do not like snails or chimps8- I don't have a problem with authority because I don't see it as a thing that exists. i treat everyone the same until they prove themselves unworthy.9- I'm poly-agnostic. I wouldn't say I believe there is a god, but if there's one there's probably more than one.10- Since this is Tumblr I should say that my "fandoms" are The Dark Tower, Robert E. Howard's Conan stories, Moby Dick, Lovecraft, Mark Twain's travelogues and Travis McGee.

This is you. This is where all your thoughts are kept. Every other part of your body is used to protect and sustain this.

I want to cry

it’s weirdly comforting to know that all of the meaningless bullshit society judges me on is just a meatsuit made to support the terrifying tentacle beast that is my true form (◡‿◡✿)

Somewhere Under the Manhole

Somewhere under the manhole, way down low there's a terrible horror, eyes that inspire woe. Somewhere under the manhole skies are black and the fools who would dare to go never do come back. Some day I'll buy a firearm and go to where the creatures are all hiding. Where wads of waste adorn the walls, beneath the houses and the malls, I'll bring ill tidings. Somewhere under the manhole C.H.U.D.s roam free C.H.U.D.s hunt under the manhole why then, oh why not me? If hungry little C.H.U.D.s can hunt beneath the manhole Why, oh why not me? Sleep tight, New York
