Remember at the beginning of this year when I got passed over for a position in favor of someone who was completely unqualified and turned into a disaster hire after like a week?

That boss is now leaving his position. I saw him today and he said, “I really wish I could have gotten you on staff here, you would have been a strong addition to our team. But we lost you to (current employer who offered me a much better position with a fantastic salary.)”

And I said, “Yeah…I wanted to work for you, too…remember when you specifically decided to not hire me after I clearly told you I was interested?”

And he was like, “Oh yeah now I remember….you know why I had to do that, right? It wasn’t my decision…”other people” were calling the shots.” Which tells me exactly what I suspected - it was all about politics and image. (Politics in politics, go figure.)

So. Good. He regrets that decision and I’m much better off both financially and in the possible career paths stemming from my current position.

I just wanted to hear him say it.

Petty af and I don’t care.

When people talk about traveling to the past, they worry about radically changing the present by doing something small, but barely anyone in the present really thinks that they can radically change the future by doing something small.

One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day. One unhealthy snack does not ruin my day.

Note to self.

Don’t think about making a million dollars, driving a fancy car, or owning an expensive house. Instead, focus on the next 24 hours. That’s right. Only the next 24 hours. Simply work on mastering today, and putting in your best effort to take you closer to your dreams. Don’t think a thousand steps ahead of yourself, for we must first be able to take the first step.
