The caterpillar that became into a butterfly.

Kaneki has undergone multiple transformations, all of them as a result of a stressful situation and triggered by his desire to protect.

Now as it happend before, Kaneki, who is being pressed by Furuta’s actions, undergoes a new transformation, that unlike in other occasions doesn’t imply the step to the background of the previous personality, but the union of all of them.

This transformation that was foreshadowed by Furuta when he compared Kaneki with a caterpillar,

is triggered by the figure of Touka, for whom Kaneki wants to live and to protect.

This process towards kaneki’s new person begins when as a result of his reflection along with his other personalities, he is aware that the current situation implies that he won’t be able to see her again.

Provoking that his different personalities who were initially in disagreement, begin to agree on the same goal. Recovering his resolve to continue fighting and acting despite the consequences his actions may have, since they aren’t motivated by his ideals, but by his desire to see and protect her.

This change is represented by the chessboard panels, which corresponds with each moment in which Kaneki underwent a transformation, being these when Shironeki became in Sasaki, when Sasaki became in Black Reaper and when Kuroneki became in Shironeki respectively.

Reaching a harmonious or balanced state on a psychological level as a result of its union, which can be linked to the possible number 14 on Kaneki’s cheek, which corresponds to the tarot card the Temperance that represents balance

Being born as a result of it a new figure, and dying the figure of Kaneki as we knew him.

Therefore, becoming the caterpillar into a butterfly.

By his own free will!

I’m freaking out right now because of a real amazing thing I noticed about Kaneki this chapter, where he had an “illusionary” conversation between his multiple personas inside his mind.

Since the beginning of this series, we’ve encountered multiple moments where Kaneki breaks down. And in each moment he gets up using the help of the others, or by others’ will.

Starting with his first mental breakdown, where he gains the power by Rize’s influence created by his imagination.

Here was the born of the so suicidal persona of Kaneki, and I think there was no other of his personas that is worse than “Shironeki” except for “The black reaper”.

His motivation at this moment was nothing but to keep fighting and getting, stronger, in order to be stronger than his loved ones and protect them. He even pushed himself to work hard enough to the point where he lost the sight of his goal.

He lost his own humanity, he returned to the starting point, he still kept on getting himself hurt (emotionally and mentally) to protect the others.

Bad result of his conversation with Rize. Nothing actually exists for Kaneki to look forward in living!

Then once again, the born of a new persona was created by his illusions, “the black reaper”.

A bad influence was this child Kaneki iin here indeed, yet can not be blamed. The child who carried all of Kaneki’s memories and misery, his ghoul figure who didn’t want to be erased yet wanted to die in style. He wanted to give himself one last moment to be remembered as “a hero”.

Even a worse outcome from this conversation! Instead of finding something to live for, he found a reason to die in the name of achievement!

Then we have a new persona, the one who started to believe he there might be a reason to live for, the one who embraced the OEK title.

The very first positive conversation created by his imagination, and of course by Hids’s help! He didn’t give him an exact reason to live for, but at least pushed him forward to find one for himself.

And yet, Kaneki didn’t take Hide’s advice fully to himself, he mixed it up with others’ will once again. He becomes the one eyed king.

This is one of Kaneki’s complex flaws, he needs to be encouraged to take a step in his way. He needs a guide, someone to tell him that it is okay to wish, hope and try to take a step forward. And sometimes this flaw leads him to take actions he doesn’t want to do.

An amazing outcome truth be told! But still he needs improvements.

And last comes the conversation between all of these personas. Each one of them started (was born) based on a whole different reason from the other. Each one of them has his own desires, started with a goal to achieve which is completely unrelated to the other.

One wished for this outcome.

While the other was happy being Sasaki.

And all of them fought over their previous actions and decisions.

Until comes the ugly truth.

Image

Their heavy silent moment.

This situation was built based on the actions of all of them. They might argue over who did this and why you’ve done that, but they agreed on this.

This is his first illusional conversation where he asks for something he desire for himself, not taking titles, dying or even fighting for someone else. This thing is for himself: “I want to see Touka”. Not Touka needs me, not I need to protect my loved ones. But “I want to”, he wants to.

And so, all of these personas come together. No pressure at all, no outside opinions. But by his own free will.

So this fight he is charging is for himself, this is the thing he wants for himself. Not for someone else’s sake, he isn’t searching for someone to think of him as a hero, but he wants to continue on living this life he just built!

This chapter got me reeeeeally hard!

confirmed release dates for tokyo ghoul:re volume 11 & 12

if you’ve been checking on amazon.jp for volume 11 within the past week or so, you may have noticed that there is now an official preorder page for volume 12 (as opposed to just volume 11, the next volume to be released).

this may seem unusual due to the fact that there is an approximate three months span in between each volume’s release (instead of just one). however, the official tokyo ghoul twitter account has confirmed that this info is correct and they are planning to release (the volumes) for two consecutive months.

volume 11 will be released on june 19th and volume 12 will be released exactly one month later, on july 19th.

Tokyo Ghoul :re Theory “19 The Sun”

My friend told me that he saw number 6 or 16 on the last page of chapter 125, but I thought I’ve seen something else. Something that kinda made sense to me…

I saw number 19 and the name of Tarot Card for this number is “The Sun”

“The Sun“ represents success, radiance, and abundance. All happiness and joy will come to you. The sun illumines your world so you can see things clearly. If you’ve been in a difficult time, it’s the sight of getting better. This card is 90% good. For Kaneki after what he’s gone through, he finally found his comfort zone on Touka’s laps and got the love he deserves.

The sunflowers. I’m not sure if they represented Hide or not. I knew there is an idea that he was associated with this flower, but has Ishida draw it officially yet? (Please inform me if you got anything) However, the one who Ishida drew with sunflowers was Yoriko. According to the describe in the calendar, sunflower means “In my eyes, there is only you”

The naked baby who wearing nothing but smile and fearless. I believe it’s about putting the guard down and opening up just like how Kaneki finally opened for Touka and overcame his depression longer than 5 minutes.

and finally, the words ‘sun’ and ‘son’ are Homophones. I don’t know if I should happy with this. Don’t get me wrong. We just have got enough dead flags here. Remember the poem from Kirishima’s birthday last year?

off topic: Kaneki was sleeping in the same pose he did long ago. Except, he was alone back then. Lying with solitude. He fought alone like an infant inside mother’s belly, but now he was brought to the world and slept peacefully beside a woman who loves him. That’s all I care… for now.

PS. I’m not good at predicting what’s inside Ishida’s head, but this is just what I saw. So please don’t take it too seriously.

Holy Fuck.

This card is associated with attained knowledge. An infant rides a white horse under the anthropomorphized sun, with sunflowers in the background. The child of life holds a red flag, representing the blood of renewal while a smiling sun shines down on him, representing accomplishment. The conscious mind prevails over the fears and illusions of the unconscious. Innocence is renewed through discovery, bringing hope for the future.

  •     Optimism—Expansion—Being radiant—Positive feelings
  •     Enlightenment—Vitality—Innocence—Non-criticism
  •     Assurance—Energy—Personal power—Happiness
  •     Splendor—Brilliance—Joy —Enthusiasm

This card is generally considered positive. It is said to reflect happiness and contentment, vitality, self-confidence and success. Sometimes referred to as the best card in Tarot, it represents good things and positive outcomes to current struggles. (font: wikipedia) And the reversed meaning: The Sun reversed indicates that finding the positive aspects to a particular situation may prove to be difficult. The clouds may be blocking out the warmth, and preventing you from feeling as though everything is on track. You may have experienced setbacks that have damaged your enthusiasm and optimism and have perhaps led you to question whether you can really achieve what you have set out to achieve. You may be feeling depressed, sad or left out. You may be reluctant to proceed and you are no longer enjoying what you are doing. Your direction and path ahead may have become clouded or distorted in some way. Nonetheless, the Sun is never a negative card, so this is only temporary. The obstacles you see can be easily removed if you put your mind to it. It may just take a little more effort than usual. On the other hand, you may be being too positive. That is, your perception of a particular situation is overly optimistic and unrealistic. You do not have a good sense of yourself and what you are and are not capable of. You may have become egotistical and out of touch with whom you really are. You may not be being truthful to yourself and to others, instead trying to talk yourself up when you know you cannot deliver. If this feels like you, then ask others for feedback and to give you a ‘reality check’ (font: biddy tarot)I don’t even know what to think.. if anyone wants to discuss it here, please, fell free to do so

Guys, please don’t rant it out on Ishida directly. At least, remember that the chapter is not even released in Japan yet. Otherwise, you wouldn't have spoilers every Sat any more

tbh i don’t get all the hate with tg:re 125??

People are going ‘omg ishida disappointed me’ ‘omg this is such a bad writing’ ‘tg is shit now’ ‘this chapter is a waste its not important at all’ etc etc

Are people actually treating this chapter as just a perverted hentai ‘fanservice’ chapter with no meaning? At this point I cant even tell if they’re trolling or serious

If you have been reading tokyo ghoul, you should realize that ishida puts every chapter, scene and dialogues with meaning. So do you actually think that an ishida would spend AN ENTIRE FLIPPIN CHAPTER of kaniki’s and touka’s sexual intercourse with NO MEANING AT ALL? Like come on lol did you guys not see kaneki’s tears or the last scene? or have you guys given ANY THOUGHTS on why on earth there’s a picture of a butterfly in the first page?

there are a lot of times in films/novels where sexual intercourse is often used to symbolize comfort, warmth, and/or closeness of a relationship between 2 characters.

in my view this is some important process for kaneki’s development. Kaneki used to feel lonely and suicidal and all, and through arima he wanted to live again but it was more due to a sense of duty. Although he wanted to live, he had nothing to grasp on to make that feeling come alive.

But through this chapter, he gained it through touka. He feels wanted and doesn’t feel lonely, as shown through the last panel of this chapter, where he is looking like a child sleeping on his mother’s laps, feeling warm and comfortable for once. This panel is all the more obvious if you see ishida’s older painting of kaneki in the same exact pose, except there’s no touka. You can tell when he cries. He’s never felt such emotions before other than tragedy and despair. The feeling of being loved by somebody else - especially from someone that he cares so much about, was something that he deeply longed for.

And some people are acting as if the series has been butchered or it turned into some shit writing lmao

Really?

TG fandom: no but maybe he's going to block Touka's kiss because his pal Amon once did the same with Akira
Ishida in Re ch125: *draws an entire chapter about Kaneki and Touka having sex*
TG fandom: no but what if it's Itori and not Touka?
