Boycott “The Forest” and watch the documentary, “Aokigahara: Suicide Forest”, instead.

  • Educates viewers about Aokigahara and the issue of suicide in Japan
  • It’s a documentary so everything stated is based on facts.

The Forest:

  • Romanticizes and trivializes suicide, death and the Aokigahara forest which is a real forest in Japan where people go to commit suicide. In fact, suicides in the forest are still happening today so it is extremely disrespectful. It’s been happening for the last 30 years—over 100 bodies are found in Aokigahara every year.
  • Suicide in Japan is a national crisis.
  • The mental health stigma in Japan is horrible.
  • The film is set in Japan but the main cast is dominantly white with a white female blonde lead. Not only that, it also doesn’t mention depression. This then leads to ableist erasure of Asian people, especially Japanese people, with mental health issues.
  • The film perpetuates the model minority myth which assumes that Asians are universally intelligent or rich, are able-bodied and don’t suffer from mental illness. Everybody believes Asians are rich and smart enough to access healthcare when in fact, this isn’t true at all.
  • Instead of talking about the real important issues happening today, Hollywood took the tragedies of the Aokigahara forest suicides and turned them into a Hollywood horror movie which in turn, dehumanizes not only Asians around the globe affected by mental health, but those who have already committed suicide.
  • Please do not see The Forest in the cinemas. Do not buy tickets to see it. A terrible movie does not deserve any support.

Ok the grinch movie is kind of fucked up cuz the grinch apparently was supposed to go to a different place cuz hes not actually a who and he’s not who passing so everyone makes fun of him and that’s basically the whole plot. and also what happened to his actual parents? what is he? is he inclined to be evil or is that a product of his upbringing? his who parents (two women which i thought was rly interesting because gay whos clearly are still prejudiced against nonwhos) to raise him like a who completely disregarded his identity and tried to whowash him… this is such a complex story that leaves so many loose ends. whered he get the dog.

Bitch watch the movie again. No one knows his true parents because he was dropped off at his adoptive parents house by a stork. He is in fact a who he’s just a different kind of who (his heart is 2 sizes too small).. He’s NOT inclined to be evil, it was in fact from his upbringing (him being humiliated in his elementary class). HE chose to go up to the mountain, he was NOT sent there. Of course they who washed him because they knew nothing better. Please educate yourself on who culture this is disgusting

oh my god i watched this movie this morning…babies come to whoville in baskets via umbrella…he came to whoville because of a gust of wind he wasnt MEANT to be there, thats explained in like the first ten minutes, if you ever watched the movie?  his heart is not naturally two sizes too small it shrunk bcuz his parents denied him who he was and he was like, constantly humiliated and even exotified. i didnt say SHIT about the mountain. whos are crusty

damn this grinch discourse tho

Brandon Stanton, the man behind the ridiculously popular photo series Humans of New York, has pulled off a holiday-season marvel. Earlier this month, Stanton profiled 11 Syrian families who had fled the chaos of their home country.  Now, just one day after Stanton launched a crowdfunded Generosity.com campaign to help them, he’s raised $554,000. Stanton’s photos revealed the immense struggles the families faced.
