Hello! I love browsing your beautiful Jane Austen blog. I was wondering if you've ever heard of the card game "Marrying Mr. Darcy"? I ask because, the Emma expansion game is now on Kickstarter. It looks like a lovely, fun game and I was hoping to read others' thoughts about it.

Hi, anon! So glad you like our blog! As for “Marrying Mr. Darcy,” you will probably not be surprised to learn that we own a copy.

I think it is a pretty enjoyable game. My sister and I just played it, and I think it is better when you have more than two players. Some of the game logic is a bit odd - sometimes your best move could be to marry two characters that you know in your heart don’t belong together (like Kitty and Wickham). That said, the game is easy to play, and the creators have a fun sense of humor. For instance, you can draw a card, reading “Scandal! Your gown was deemed ‘far too revealing’. Discard your character’s top ‘Reputation’ card.” Another fun one is the “Tea Time” card, where players can exchange cards from their hands. We definitely appreciate the creators’ creativity, and it is clear that they are true P&P fans!

I don’t know if we’ll buy the Emma expansion pack, but we were happy to see they’ve already met their goal on Kickstarter.
