Something in this younger Enforcer reminded Kougami of himself. Perhaps it was the bloodlust. Perhaps it was the savage look in his eyes or the smirk that crept across his face at the mere thought of a hunt. Kougami had long since learned that such personality traits only got you into trouble as an Enforcer. If either one of them selfishly wandered off, caught up in the thrill of the chase, they’d both be hit with a blackout-inducing paralyser shot from an Inspector’s Dominator. 

But it wasn’t in Kougami Shinya’s nature to avoid risk. In fact, sometimes it seemed as if the Enforcer would actively seek out the worst danger to throw himself head-first into. It thrilled him that this time he had somebody by his side to share it with. He was unusually excited about being paired with Enforcer Mikoto Suoh. 

Taking the cigarette offered to him and lighting it between his teeth (with some difficulty thanks to the Tokyo drizzle), Kougami took a long drag, looking up at the skyscraper they were to enter, starting their hunt at the top and working their way four floors down. 

“Better let me get the kill,” was a cocky comment, to which Kougami scoffed.

“Tch. We’ll see,” Gripping his Dominator in one hand, cigarette between the fingers of his other, he smirked, “I assume we’re not taking the stairs,”

No one liked Suoh. No one enjoyed working with him but Munakata. This always got him into trouble even with the inspector who held onto this chain, but that was the fun of it. A short tempered lion caged in with hunting hounds, it was rare for him not to be in any form of trouble after a hunt either. He was known to be rather inhumane in his executions, finding it all too much fun to be up close and personal with his prey as they died. He wasn’t suitable to be hound but at the same time he was all too fit for the job as well. 

Interesting. Whoever this other enforcer was he seemed familiar. Almost like they had met before, that or they had similar thoughts regarding their work. Either way Suoh wouldn’t remember this guy’s name unless he proved to be worth remembering. Those words of mocked mimicking should of irritated the red head but all it did was set his blood lust burst into flames. So this little prick wanted to pick a fight, this was going to be a hunt worth remembering even if his competitive company was not.  

Reaching for his dominator his eyes fell onto that building as he thought this hunt out, still wearing that smirk on his lips as he finished off his cigarette. “Fuck using the stairs” 

Unexpected guest || Cat-antics

To say she hated rain would be an understatement. The kitten voiced her displeasure with a series of loud yowls directed at the offending wetness. Unfortunately she’d been caught while out prowling for food. Forced to seek shelter under a flimsy piece of cardboard. Neko attempted to make herself as small as possible,  under the temporary awning, in an attempt to avoid becoming soaked. 

         meow!

Suddenly capture. The kitten struggles briefly against the large hands constraining her. Until warmth. Slowly it melts away  the fear from being so suddenly handled. The small pinkish bundle curls up against the source of heat. A soft rumbling sound of satisfaction and appreciation trembles from somewhere deep within the little creature’s chest. 

He could hear it. The sound of purr rumbling from the little creature’s throat even as it was wrapped up within his leather jacket. At least carrying it back wouldn’t be a complete pain. At least it understood he was only trying to help it for its own sake. Suoh didn’t rush back to the bar either, the cat was safe within his care and the down pour didn’t bother him, he couldn’t feel the cold wind or the icy rain anyway. The only thing that bothered him about it was he couldn’t exactly smoke in this weather. 

Once back at the bar he was grateful for the quiet. Slipping into the back kitchen to place that little wet bundle on a chair, before looking for something that would be edible for cats. Scraps of meat, left overs from another meal were served onto a plate along side an open can of fish. Two bowls were also offered, one of milk and the other water, that way the shivering animal was free to choose whatever it wanted to eat. And with that settled the King finally placed a much needed cigarette to his lips and inhaled in that smoke. Cheating with his aura to dry himself off instead of simply changing clothes or putting a towel to his soaked red hair.

All Kougami knew about Mikoto Suoh was that he was young- early twenties, probably- and that he was particularly fiery when it came to his job. They’d temporarily transferred him to Division One whilst his Inspector took a well-deserved vacation, and everybody was expected to get along with him, no matter how much of a pain in the ass he might turn out to be.

During the debrief, Kougami watched him, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his coat and frowning when the taller man placed a cigarette between his lips. He’d kill for one of those.

“We know the killer is still in the area, and that their Crime Coefficient is rising fast, all we have to do is tighten the noose,” Inspector Ginoza continued, the first few drops of rain starting to come down, “Enforcer Mikoto, go with Enforcer Kougami, focus on the top four floors of the neighbouring building…” he turned, addressing another pair of Enforcers.

Before Kougami knew it, everybody was picking up their Dominators;

“Activating Dominator Portable Psychological Diagnosis and Suppression System. User authentication: Enforcer Shinya Kougami, Public Safety Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department. Dominator usage approved. You are a valid user,”

Ginoza’s final words to Kougami were, “Don’t do anything stupid. Behave,” to which the Enforcer simply rolled his eyes, grunting in response.

Ordinarily an Inspector would be assigned to accompany each group of Enforcers in order to keep them from going rogue on duty, but this entire area was cordoned off with Drones- an Enforcer couldn’t escape even if he or she tried. The MWPSB valued the lives of their Enforcers, after all.

“Before we get going…” Kougami said, looking the redhead up and down, pointing a finger at the unlit cigarette in his mouth, “Can I have one of those?”

All Suoh heard was his soon to be victim was corned with a Crime Coefficient hitting the roof. Perfect. This hunt wouldn’t be a total waste of time after all. As he stared up at the building he was told to go prowl, a rather hungry smirk spread across his lips completely forgetting the information of he wasn’t supposed to be alone for this hunt. He wasn’t tied down to his usual keeper but it appeared that he wouldn’t be trusted without a fellow pack animal at his heel either. 

Too caught up in his own growing pre hunt blood lust he hadn’t noticed everyone around him grabbing their dominator’s and leaving to follow through with their respected orders. Only once he heard a different voice speak to him, requesting a cigarette did his head tilt to the side with that smirk fading from his lips. So shortie had some balls after all, anyone who knew Suoh wouldn’t dream of asking such a question, but this guy must of been desperate. For now, the red headed lion decided that he might just mildly enjoy working with this guy. Without saying a word however he reached into his jacket to pull out a spare cigarette for this guy and offered it to him. “Better let me get the kill”

“It’s going to rain,”

Kougami Shinya stood on a street corner, buzzing, flashing drones and crime scene tape surrounding him. He and the rest of MWPSB Division One were waiting on the arrival of Division Two to investigate the recent murder of a young woman.

They had sealed off a perimeter, after an Enforcer had determined the killer to be still within the vicinity. If they were smart, they could force them into a corner and do what was necessary with the Dominator.

“Enforcer Kougami, we’re ready to debrief,” a commanding voice sounded, as Inspector Ginoza Nobuchika ordered everybody over into a small cluster.

Kougami fished in the pocket of his jacket for a cigarette, frowning when all he found was an empty carton.

“First things first,“ Ginoza continued, "I have somebody to introduce to you all. I’m not overly fond of the idea, but we’ve been assigned a temporary Enforcer. This will be his ‘trial run’, so to speak. Enforcer Mikoto Suoh, welcome to Division One,”

It wasn’t his choice to be signed over to another Shepard to ‘baby sit’ him. Suoh hated the idea, but, it was a favour to Munakata so that was good enough of a reason to trust his chain to another handler. It wasn’t permanent so the red head who was more often called a lion would tolerate it just for now. Munakata Reisi, the man usually in charge of keeping the lion enforcer in line decided that Suoh could do with learning some manners from another division while he took a little bit of a break. He believed nothing could be learnt from this lot but a favour was a favour.

Suoh usually didn’t listen to debriefings commonly finding no point in them, he knew his goal. Find the latent criminal and eliminate the threat, be it by boring old paralyser mode or the lion’s personal favourite lethal eliminator. After all a hunt wasn’t worth his time if a bit of blood wasn’t spilt, anyone under 300 was always more dull and boring. 

For once the lion listened to whoever was in charge, someone who reminded him of Munakata but that still didn’t mean he had interest in serving under his man. While he only half paid attention to his introduction he messed within his jacket pocket, pulling out a cigarette and placing it between his lips unlit for now. While all he did was nod a a little at his name being said, a mild, silent acknowledgement but nothing more than that. Suoh wasn’t known for being much of a talker after all.
