Lothering was only a few days behind them, and yet Genlock scouts were at the edge of his senses, the taint pressing, humming in the back of his mind. The darkspawn were far distant, but he would keep watch tonight. Duncan was more worried about how his newest recruit was handling the scenario he'd never thought to bring her into. But here she was, and she would stay. "Nilviri,", he said, his soft but not as hard as it tended to be."You are well, I trust?"

"I would have thought most in Lothering would have fled by now, my lady."
The horde approached on his heels, the battle at Ostagar having been lost to Loghain's treachery. The darkspawn would be here soon - at best guess, the villagers here had three days. Duncan would help as he could, if circumstances had been different. Alistair would have the sense to head to Redcliffe, he hoped, and Duncan needed to get there as soon as possible.

"Your friend..Tamlen? I hope you are alright, all things considered. --I'll admit I know little of your people's rites for the dead, but it seemed a fine ceremony."

Duncan has one of his daggers in hand, the fine silverite blade freshly cleaned and glinting in the firelight. They made camp here, and for once, all was quiet. "Did I ever tell you how I got these, Alistair?"
I hope we learned a lesson, yes? You cannot trust a Crow. ...Unless he is ridiculously handsome!

”Now, I never said stop entirely. Simply that we are one army closer to taking on the very Archdemon you speak of and a boost for morale would not hurt any of us, no?”
He’s lighthearted in the way he says it, casting the Commander a look.
Zevran is no Warden. He doesn't know just what will happen when they face the Archdemon --- and yet, his words ring true. They do need to celebrate what they can, while they can, as long as they did not loose sight of their goal.
"I suppose so, Zevran. As long as we stay focused, I cannot claim high morale would not help us. Rather, it aids all of us greatly."
Loghain shook his head in disbelief. “Maker’s breath, man, aren’t you suppose to have some dignity? Somewhere?” ”Me? Dignity?”

”Are we differentiating between the two now? Marvelous. Forgive me if I don’t share you sentiment, but I’ll take my victories where I can get them.”
"Would you have us rest easy while the Archdemon still lives?"
Duncan speaks quietly, voice blank of any accusation or anger. He's calm, as he usually is. "We may have recruited the Dalish to our cause, but the Blight is far from over, Zevran."
