"Ohhh" Ruby flipped the blade over a few times, before opening and inspecting the blade, brand new smooth.
"Wait what? No i wouldn't! I handle a scythe on the regular, I'm sure I could of handled it just fine. "But thank you I love it. If I ever murder someone I'll think of you."
"The butterfly knife is closer to your fingers that your scythe. Like your scythe, one wrong move and you'll lose something in the blink of an eye," Mercury smoothed Ruby's fluffy hair.
"I gotta get you a practice one first, or your hands will be all scarred up like mine,"
"Getting out here with your logic!" Ruby pouted. "It is very pretty."
"Happy Birthday, miss Rose. I hope such gift would fit your taste." He hands her an evelope with a gift card for Atlas' most popular tech shop that specializes in weapon parts for huntsmen.
"Thank you so much General." All thought of decorum was gone. There was no way to contain the excitement for an new upgrade.

Ruby listened, a smiled softly. He was right and she could see that also she agreed. She tightened her grip on his hand.
"We thought destroying Salem was the only way to save humanity. People have existed along side her for centuries, both with and against her." Ruby added. "Cause we tried to bury those feelings. Not let us have both, since we know the negative emotion's bring the grimm. Also no one wants to be angry, or scared."
"It is hard. Just admitting any of your feelings to someone, let alone the harder ones." She was trying to not use the word bad, trying to uncouple that connection between what she thought and her emotions. Feelings where just well feelings. "Dealing with emotions on a smaller level before they become bigger ones. Learning about doubt and risk made everything messier then clearer. I was use to things always working out..."
A wry smile tugged at the corner of his mouth at that; if things had ever just worked out for her, it must have been before he showed up. So he swung out an elbow to jostle her side, gently, and said, “Hey. Maybe you felt like things always worked out, but what I saw was you figuring out how to keep going every time things got bad.”
There had been a reason they all relied on her. A reason they still rely on her, still need her, if he was honest; although he didn’t intent to lean on her so much this time. Oscar canted his head. “Remember Brunswick Farm? If it hadn’t been for you, the rest of us probably would’ve dropped the lamp down the well and then laid down to die.” A pause. “Maybe not Maria. But the rest of us. You… I mean, it’s not really the same thing, but it kind of is. It’s not like the apathy didn’t influence you; you just—kept pushing through the weariness.”
"I mean....." Ruby scratched the back of her head. "I kinda just fell into all of this one night when Torchwick rob the store I was at. I had Crescent Rose with me. I wasn't just going stand by and let it happen." It really had started that night... Getting into Beacon, meeting Ozpin, all of it.
"When I got to school we often happen to be in the right place at the right time. And Ozpin let us get away with a lot."
"Well, I don't think the gods themselves to get Maria to do what they said." She respect the older woman for that. Took no talk back. A real icon really. "I just focus on what's head. How we get there has always been up in the air. Just kept moving forward, cause it was the only thing I knew how to do. Stopping has never been an option. That's how I got to where I was... in the Ever After." She paused.
