“Zaofu is the only city that hasn’t agreed to her terms of rejoining… Mom wont agree to it, and I don’t want her to… Shes going to try to take Zaofu, I’m sure of it…” her brows furrowed and she frowned
“The things she leaves in her wake… I’ve seen it Korra… It’s not good… And anyone who doesn’t obey her gets sent to ‘reeducation’ camps… They’re more like the prisons i read about from the 100 year war… They’re awful… and Kuvira needs to be stopped.” she clung to Korra
“Mom radioed the other day… Kuvira blocked off the tracks leading in and out of Zaofu…”
Korra frowned a bit as Opal spoke. If she hadn’t disappeared for all those years, if she had not allowed herself to become so weak then Kuvira wouldn’t be conquering the Earth kingdom and threatening Zaofu right now. If she hadn’t disappeared, the world wouldn’t be teetering on the edge of chaos again. If she didn’t already feel like a failure she would have scolded herself. But the only thing she could do now was pick up where she left off and move forward.
Putting her hands on Opal’s cheeks, Korra moved her face up to meet her gaze, “I’m not going to let anything happen to your family, Opal, we’re going to find a way to talk some sense into Kuvira. If not, then I will find a way to stop her.”
She clung to Korra “I know… I know…” she said
“I just want to be near you… Having you here is nice… I missed you, my sweet Polarbear dog.” she pressed a soft kiss to Korra’s lips.
The bender couldn’t help but smile as their lips met. It had been so long since they’d been together, so long since she could kiss her like this. As they parted ways, they remained close still with their foreheads touching and Korra smiled as she gazed into the airbender’s eyes. If there was anything Korra could do to save Zaofu from Kuvira she would be willing to do it. If reason wouldn’t do then she would be forced to use all her strength.
“I missed you too. Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.”

“I believe you...” she smiled, laying her head on Korra’s shoulder.

“I love you so much...” she knew korra would fight to save her home, would do anything in her power, but the last thing she wanted was to have her over work herself.

“Bolin asked me to marry him… but I’m not sure…”
He asked to marry you, Darling that’s terrific news!
Image
Suyin was excited to hear Bolin had the courage to even ask of such a thing to her little butterfly, but when she looked at Opals face her she withheld her own emotions for a moment. “Opal, what’s making you feel unsure? Do you not feel the same of him?”
Image

“I do... but I’m not sure if I’m ready to get married. There’s air bending training and then helping the people of the earth kingdom... There’s so much going on lately that... I’m not sure that this is the time.”

"Mom... How did you feel when dad asked you to marry him?"

“Finally! that was my first thought he took so long even when I felt the ring on his pocket for like 2 months before he asked me. But that night he made me the happiest woman in the world, guess I just got happier after know we were going to be parents”

“I guess asking didn’t really help my situation… Thank’s for sharing anyway.” she sighs
“Opal…what’s the matter?” moved to hold her daughter’s hand on hers.
“Well… Bolin Proposed to me… And I’m not sure what to say…”
“You should just do what your heart tells you to do… what do you feel about this? ”

“I’m not sure... Am I ready for marriage? I love him but I’m not sure...”

“Don’t worry, I get up early too, and master Tenzin knows I don’t break the rules, so he wont mind you staying with me.” she replied with a giggle, laying her head on Korra’s shoulder
She was happy to be in Korra’s arms “What do you need to take care of tomorrow? Maybe I could tag along.”
“You know just usual Avatar stuff.. I’ve been gone for so long that the world has thrown itself out of balance. I need to figure out Kuvira’s next move..” Korra frowned slightly, she wondered how Bolin was doing now that he was working with her. Did he know what she was really doing, or did she shield him from tht too?
“I wouldn’t want to distract you from helping Kai with your new airbender duties.. How have those things been going anyway?”

“Zaofu is the only city that hasn’t agreed to her terms of rejoining... Mom wont agree to it, and I don’t want her to... Shes going to try to take Zaofu, I’m sure of it...” her brows furrowed and she frowned

She nodded “that sounds good. We need to talk after so long…” She took her hand and interlaced their fingers walking with Korra to the currently empty meditation pagoda.
“Why? Why’d you just run away like that? You didn’t tell anyone anything and… I didn’t even know you were safe till I heard Jinora, Ikki, and Milo told me.” She sighed
“I understand but…I was so worried… I thought… I thought I lost you…”
Korra smiled softly glancing down at their hands remembering just how much she’d missed the contact between them. But her smile slowly faded once they made their way up to the meditation pavilion and Opal turned and immediately begun spilling all her thoughts. She wanted to reach out and hold her, the guilt she felt bubbling back up now that she could physically see how hurt Opal had been because of her disappearance.
“I’m– sorry, Opal. There were a lot of things that happened.. I couldn’t stand being here and being so weak.” She closed her eyes, looking away, “Learning how to walk again wasn’t even the hardest part. There was still some of the poison in me, I couldn’t contact Raava, there were hallucinations, and nightmares..” She swallowed thickly, “In fact, there are still nightmares. But I needed to be on my own for a while to realize how to become stronger, how to bounce back from feeling completely.. destroyed.”
Reaching out she cupped the younger girl’s cheek in her hand, “I’m sorry I didn’t– I couldn’t tell you. I wanted to..”
“I would have understood… If youd just told me you needed to figure things out… needed time to yourself… but please… dont do that again… at least tell me next time…” she hugged Korra tightly, just inhaling the scent of her hair. It smelled just how it always did.
“I love you Korra… Please stay with me for tonight… I just want to be near you…” she pulled back and wrapped her arms around Korra’s waist
“I’ve seen some nasty things too… I also have nightmares… Maybe if we’re together we can sleep better…”
“I know.. I’m sorry.” She managed to mumbled before the younger girl burst forward and wrapped her arms around her waist. Korra was surprised at first, but she wrapped her own arms around her and held her tight. When Opal pulled away she felt a light blush creep onto her cheeks and her blue eyes averted a moment as she thought to herself. She wasn’t sure how happy Tenzin would be with that arrangement, though she wasn’t a boy sneaking into the girl’s dormitories so it wasn’t quite the same, right?
“I can probably stay for tonight. But I’ve got some stuff to take care of first thing in the morning.” Korra pressed a firm kiss into the side of Opal’s head before smiling at her.

“Don’t worry, I get up early too, and master Tenzin knows I don’t break the rules, so he wont mind you staying with me.” she replied with a giggle, laying her head on Korra’s shoulder

Seeing Korra Opal smiled she’d heard things from Senna who would give her updates on how Korra had been doing, so she at least understood the situation. Of course that didn’t help the emotions she felt when she heard that Korra had gone missing. “Korra!” she quickly walked over wanting to hig her tightly, but restraining herself.
“You… Look nice.” of course, thats exactly what she wanted to say. Not at all. she really wanted to scold korra for not telling her where she was going. Tell her how worried she was, but she knew korra must have been through hell and back to be here now. “I missed you…”

Korra couldn’t help but smile seeing Opal as she slowly approached her. It had been three whole years since she’d seen her and she seemed so.. different. Not physically of course, she looked just like how Korra remembered her, but there was something else about her. She might have grown an inch or two and she seemed so much more confident and sure of herself. Not to mention those new airbending suits were quite form fitting.

“Thanks..” The Avatar answered, a light blush staining her cheeks before they were both forced into that awkward silence again. Reaching up she rubbed the back of her head, glancing over once she heard Opal’s admittance, “I missed you too..” She mumbled softly before reaching out to take the airbender’s hand. “Come on, there’s a quiet place over there where we can talk.”

She nodded "that sounds good. We need to talk after so long..." She took her hand and interlaced their fingers walking with Korra to the currently empty meditation pagoda.

"Why? Why'd you just run away like that? You didn't tell anyone anything and... I didn't even know you were safe till I heard Jinora, Ikki, and Milo told me." She sighed

"I understand but...I was so worried... I thought... I thought I lost you..."
