Control your emotions.              If you want to survive you forget about sympathy.                  Think of it like a strategy- f o c u s on your ultimate                  goal, shut out everything else, steel your mind,                  move on instinct. Let doubt take over and despair                                                         will cripple you.

☆: a time you looked at the stars

「✖」—— ;

as a child she had always loved to look upon the stars                  and imagine how far they were; to believe that they were                  as magical as the relics and treasury of the kingdom, to smile                  and make a wish whenever she had the impression that one was                  twinkling specially brighter, almost as if it was inviting her to close                  her eyes and simply whisper a small wish to be granted.

( those times all seemed galaxies apart from today. )

after her family had perished on that fire it seemed so                  pointless to look at shinning dots on the sky. pointless, as                  none of them would be able to bring them back to her. she had                  hakuryuu to take care of now and barely no time to stop and look                  and stare. grownups don’t do these silly things.

                           "I have to be strong."

curious thing, how she is now staring at them ever so                  desperately. wishing, wishing wishing…

( please, guide him back home. )

」 She had hoped for it as well  - to be his wife. She had looked forward to have a future with him. They had fought for their relationship so much - and they had been happy. Those last weeks they had been happy… until Judal came with this marriage. That moment the Oracle had spoken, that moment Hakuryuu agreed her world had fall apart. But she hadn’t said anything - because she understood why he needed to marry this woman. Why they couldn’t be together anymore. With that knowledge she had left, cried herself to sleep in Balbadd and tried to distract herself.

"Don’t… don’t say anything." She whispered and quickly covered his mouth. Tears dwelling in the corner of his eyes. Her hands clung to his fabrics before the tears broke out. "I love you… you are my happiness… but …but you decided and Judal is right. This is for the best." Looking up, Alibabas lips started to tremble before she pressed them against his. One last kiss couldn’t hurt, right? "You will be happy. She seems to be a nice person. So… she will be your empress. You’ll have a family with her." Wrapping her arms around him she sighed. "We have to …to continue." She gently brushed his cheek before stepping back. "I will always love you but you are not mine to hold."

"...I don't want to let you go. I---" He was cut off, the blonde princess telling him not to speak any more as she covered his mouth with her hands, tears starting to fall on her cheeks. It made him feel miserable that all he could do was to make her cry. Hadn't he promised himself long ago that the next time he'd make her cry--- it would be tears of joy?

---But, it seems as though all he could do was to break his promises.

It was when she told him not to speak anymore that he knew it was already far too late. There was nothing else that he could do and, or, say to ease the pain that she was feeling, to take back all of the words that he'd said. Just as she were to join in the Ren family by marrying one of his elder cousins--- he, too, was forced to marry a princess from a different country that would be beneficial to the stability of the Kou Empire. It was a choice that was quite difficult to make for he knew that his heart only belonged to one person. However, in order to safeguard both of their countries, they have to part.

"...Ali." He frowned, not really wanting to let her go of his arms just yet; because he knew that if he did, he wouldn't have another chance to hold her so intimately. He would never again be able to feel her warm hands against his own calloused ones; never again to wake up to the sight of her greeting him with such a warm smile; never again to hear her infectious laughter as she would affectionately call out his name; never again to feel her warmth against his own as they lose their selves in a night of passion---

---But, he realized, that he'd lost all that the moment that he chose his mission before her.

"...I know." As much as it pained him, he had to be strong. He can't let her shoulder all the burden of his decision. Just as she was trying to accept things the way they are, he will do his best to stand by the decision that he made. "...And, you... you will marry one of my cousins... If... If I had to hand you over to someone, I... would prefer it if you were to be wed with Lord Kouha. ...I ...I am sure that he will take very good care of you. At least, better than I ever have..."

It was when he felt her touch his cheek for one last time, stepping away from him as she did so, that he realized it was all over. They were not a couple anymore. He was no longer her knight and she was no longer his princess.

"I suppose that this is farewell." He forced a smile on his face, although, he was failing quite miserably. "...But, before that... will you ...will you join me for one last dance?"

Gyokuen noticed her little boy started to squirm in her arms. A soft, playful giggle left her parted lips as she knelt down to place him on the ground. A slender hand patted on his raven hair before she placed her hands on her lap. A charming and sweet smile was displayed on her porcelain vague, as her mask of kindness covered her true evil intent behind her actions and words. ”Would you like to walk for yourself, my beloved son?” Gyokuen chuckled, as she stood up from the ground, grabbing her son’s tiny hands. ”Let’s walk like this, alright? Otherwise we may lose each other.”

As the two started to walk again, Gyokuen thoughts returned to the promise her little son had made. It was so sickening to listen to his quarrels. How he wished to become a strong and wise men in order to stand aside with his two elder brothers and make his dearest mother proud of him, it was all so sickening and laughable.

The raven-haired female just couldn’t stand it but she just let him be, because to her, it was quite amusing to hear his wishes and desires, but it was only a matter of time before her true cruelty stepped in to crush his silly wishes to oblivion. Oh Gyokuen couldn’t wait for the day for that to come.

Silver blue hues glanced up to look at the brightness of sun. ”It’s a hot day, isn’t it, sweetie?” she said, as she looked back at her precious dragon by shifting her head to the side. Even a cruel and evil woman like Gyokuen could enjoy a sunny day like this with her little shred of humanity left.

Such a sunny day reminded her of the old days in Alma Torran. When she was Arba, she always enjoyed hot days with the rest of the Resistance. She shook her head. No, that was all in the past and it mattered not anymore. Being reminding of her past and the happiness she felt made a sickening feeling rose inside of her stomach.

It didn't take very long for his mother to catch on, putting him down on the ground just like he had wanted. "Yes, please! I'd like to walk alongside Mother as well!" He chuckled lightly, a bit embarrassed at how spoiled he sounded. After all, all he did today was to make her listen to his dreams and aspirations; to ask his mother for favours--- only to leave her with promises. It was a good thing that his mother didn't seem to mind and, often, tolerated him.

However, he didn't want to let things stay this way forever. He didn't want his promises to, just, remain promises. He couldn't wait to grow up so that he would be able to repay her for all that she's doing for him. He'd make sure that he'd become strong so that he would be able to protect her--- so that, in the future, they would no longer need guards to come with them and, also, so that they would be able to go to many different places.

A huge smile formed on his face as his mother reached out to hold his tiny hands in her's--- nodding as he met her with his hand halfway, his grip ever so tight.

From his point of view, everything looks so big and scary--- but, with his mother by his side, he felt at ease. He didn't feel intimidated by the tall citizens, the huge horses, and the numerous, tall, guards that were trailing right behind them. After all, his mother showed no signs of weakness and, just, smiled at them all. As her child, he thought that it would be proper if he were to do the same.

Image
He didn't know whether it was the sun or, rather, the bright smile that his mother gave him that caused such a warm feeling to erupt inside his chest--- but, either way, he could just nod happily. It made him happy to know that his mother was enjoying this little adventure just as much as he is.

"It really is, Mother! I'm really glad that it's so sun---" But, before he could finish his statement, his stomach grumbled loudly. "---Er, uh, I'm really glad that it's so sunny today!" He could only hope that his mother hadn't heard it. After all, he didn't want to ruin their day and go back to the palace just yet.
