They really had Brienne make Jaime’s greatest wish happen by having her fill his page in the White Book so he’ll always be remembered as the good and honorable man he is, while having Ramin Djawadi’s beautiful “I am hers and she is mine” melody playing over it as a symbol of their love and the marriage that would have been if he was alive, followed by the “A knight of the seven kingdoms” melody, which both refers to Jaime dying as a knight and Brienne continuing his legacy as Lady Commander of the Kingsguard, fighting with the sword he gave her that symbolises his heart that “is hers, will always be hers”. 

I’m not over this, I’ll never be over this. They really are the most beautiful romance in this whole damn show even with their arcs completely screwed up. Fuck.

Now that I’ve had time to stew, Game of Thrones finale thoughts (spoiler alert: it was trash)

All of the spoilers are ahead so…

  • What we’re NOT gonna do is stan Sansa Stark. 
  • She betrayed her brother, her family, risked compromising the allegiance between the northern armies, the Unsullied, and Dothraki, and created the entire conflict that led to the destruction of King’s Landing.
  • Her actions ultimately led to Jon feeling forced to kill a woman he loved, breaking his loyalty that we’ve all seen he cares about more than anything else.
  • Sansa did all of this with the intention of seating the “rightful heir” on the Iron Throne because she believed Jon/Aegon would be a better ruler.
  • She spread the truth that Jon was a Targaryen intending for him to rule, to undermine and subvert Dany’s claim, and when the moment came to actually follow through on those intentions, she was… silent..?!
  • So Sansa compromised the safety of the ENTIRE REALM, compromised military allegiances, compromised Jon’s love and happiness, betrayed her family, was the catalyst for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people with one goal in mind, and when achieving that goal was at her fingertips, she did NOTHING.
  • Why go to all that effort, why reveal Jon’s true identity, and why try so hard to affirm his claim for the throne only to disregard it when the high lords of Westeros came together to decide on a ruler?
  • In the end Sansa gets rewarded for being the literal worst kind of person and nobody holds her accountable for her actions and she just gets.. forgiven?? 12/10 should’ve been executed in the episode.
  • Bran? Really? 
  • DAENERYS TARGARYEN DESERVED BETTER
  • Tf happened to Drogon? He’s flying east, has Dany firmly in tow, and yet everyone knows how Dany died? Nobody was there to see it so Jon must’ve confessed.
  • If Jon confessed, you’re telling me Grey Worm wouldn’t have cut him down on the spot? That the Unsullied and Dothraki that are loyal to a fault and better fighters than the Westerosi armies wouldn’t have slaughtered people to avenge their queen?
  • So you’re telling me the Unsullied and Dothraki just lay down their arms and piss off to nowhere without a fight. Riiiiight. 
  • Bran trying to warg into Drogon would probably kill him but go off I guess.
  • Brienne finishing Jaime’s entry in the Kingsguard histories and being nice about him after he acted like a fuckboy to her and broke her heart? Foh with that nonsense. 
  • Drogon is flying east towards Essos. Essos, where red priests and priestesses championed Dany’s cause and touted her as the one who was promised, and you think for a second one of them sees her dead body in her dragon’s claw and doesn’t resurrect her? Not digging the loose ends. 
  • Drogon is alive. Dragons can presumably asexually lay viable eggs in ASOIAF. Drogon is flying towards Essos, again, rife with red priests and priestesses, can potentially lay eggs, and there’s potential for a resurrected and justifiably pissed Dany to raise more dragons. Again, loose ends, and the potential for a peaceful realm looking less and less likely. This makes it look more like an “eye of the storm” peace than true peace.
  • DAENERYS 👏🏻TARGARYEN 👏🏻DESERVED 👏🏻BETTER👏🏻
  • Literally the only good part of the episode was Jon finally petting Ghost.
  • Would’ve been nice to see Ghost and Nymeria reunited since the (living) Starks ended up surviving. Having the direwolves reunite and survive together the way their owners did would’ve been a poetic moment. 
  • All in all, terrible finale to a terrible season. -37/10 would not recommend.

How To Tell If Somebody Loves You

Somebody loves you if they pick an eyelash off of your face or wet a napkin and apply it to your dirty skin. You didn’t ask for these things, but this person went ahead and did it anyway. They don’t want to see you looking like a fool with eyelashes and crumbs on your face. They notice these things. They really look at you and are the first to notice if something is amiss with your beautiful visage! Somebody loves you if they assume the role of caretaker when you’re sick. Unsure if someone really gives a shit about you? Fake a case of food poisoning and text them being like, “Oh, my God, so sick. Need water.” Depending on their response, you’ll know whether or not they REALLY love you. “That’s terrible. Feel better!” earns you a stay in friendship jail; “Do you need anything? I can come over and bring you get well remedies!” gets you a cozy friendship suite. It’s easy to care about someone when they don’t need you. It’s easy to love them when they’re healthy and don’t ask you for anything beyond change for the parking meter. Being sick is different. Being sick means asking someone to hold your hair back when you vomit. Either love me with vomit in my hair or don’t love me at all. Somebody loves you if they call you out on your bullshit. They’re not passive, they don’t just let you get away with murder. They know you well enough and care about you enough to ask you to chill out, to bust your balls, to tell you to stop. They aren’t passive observers in your life, they are in the trenches. They have an opinion about your decisions and the things you say and do. They want to be a part of it; they want to be a part of you. Somebody loves you if they don’t mind the quiet. They don’t mind running errands with you or cleaning your apartment while blasting some annoying music. There’s no pressure, no need to fill the silences. You know how with some of your friends there needs to be some sort of activity for you to hang out? You don’t feel comfortable just shooting the shit and watching bad reality TV with them. You need something that will keep the both of you busy to ensure there won’t be a void. That’s not love. That’s “Hey, babe! I like you okay. Do you wanna grab lunch? I think we have enough to talk about to fill two hours!“ It’s a damn dream when you find someone you can do nothing with. Whether you’re skydiving together or sitting at home and doing different things, it’s always comfortable. That is fucking love. Somebody loves you if they want you to be happy, even if that involves something that doesn’t benefit them. They realize the things you need to do in order to be content and come to terms with the fact that it might not include them. Never underestimate the gift of understanding. When there are so many people who are selfish and equate relationships as something that only must make them happy, having someone around who can take their needs out of any given situation if they need to. Somebody loves you if they can order you food without having to be told what you want. Somebody loves you if they rub your back at any given moment. Somebody loves you if they give you oral sex without expecting anything back. Somebody loves you if they don’t care about your job or how much money you make. It’s a relationship where no one is selling something to the other. No one is the prostitute. Somebody loves you if they’ll watch a movie starring Kate Hudson because you really really want to see it. Somebody loves you if they’re able to create their own separate world with you, away from the internet and your job and family and friends. Just you and them. Somebody will always love you. If you don’t think this is true, then you’re not paying close enough attention.”
