“I came from a pretty normal working-class family that was often broke but never poor. We got by; we laughed our asses off. Even though we didn’t have fancy stuff and couldn’t afford much, it was a great portrait of the American Dream — upper lower class, or lower middle class … whatever we were. My dad was super strict, and my mom was very loving and wonderful; ultra-supportive. Not a critical bone in her body. So that combination probably did produce a guy who is just a normal man, an everyman type.” (x)
