I don't want to say "you should never listen to a non-linguist about anything involving language", but like... man, people are so wrong about language. If you are learning a language and want to know how it works, don't ask a native speaker! They don't fucking know! Ok, they do, but not in a way they can convey to you. They'll tell you some wrong shit!
"How does this grammatical construction work in your language?" — you'll get the wrong answer
"How is your language different from English" — you'll get the wrong answer
"What is unique about your language" — you'll get the wrong answer.

The term Redneck gain prominence with striking coal miners in Appalachia. They wore red bandanas around their necks to express union solidarity.
And they fucking FOUGHT police and Pinkerton strike breaker forces. It was a period called The Coal Wars.
The poor and working classes have a long history of community support and rejecting police authority.

People who perform manual labor should be not only given high and liveable wages, but unlimited access to healthcare and physical therapy to help manage the myriad conditions that come from doing back-breaking work.
Like this is not an absurd concept. It bothers me that people think that it is.

Why is Democratic control of the Senate important?
- It would be much easier to make policy on key issues like healthcare, LGBTQ rights, climate change, tax policy, immigration, and economic recovery. You want Biden to be able to pursue progressive policies? Control of the Senate would be a major boost.
- Biden’s legislative and international agenda is majorly compromised if the Senate becomes a stalling point. Avoiding legislative gridlock is crucial to getting things done in general, and particularly to manage the pandemic and start undoing the damage Trump's administration has done.
- The Senate confirms senior government appointees to the administration - this affects Biden’s ability to pick his Cabinet and appoint judges.
- If the Democrats are able to gain control of all three offices, they can change the filibuster, making it much more difficult for Republicans to block measures.
- Conversely, if the Senate is the only chamber that Republicans retain control of, there’s a major possibility that Republicans will use it to be purposely obstructive to progressive policies, just because they’re progressive and also because it’s in their interest to make a Biden presidency as ineffective as possible.
