What I find interesting about the full ver. Of Don’t think twice’s lyrics is that it speaks about an impossible love from another person’s POV, someone who is very closed off and doesn’t believe it could happen. But the lyrics indicate they’re trying to change their mindset,

“If you want to make it happen nothing’s impossible all you gotta do is say the word your walls will crumble…” There’s literally only one character who has built walls around themselves from the beginning and it’s Riku. And they made it very clear in KH3D…

Then Riku answers with

So Don’t Think Twice could be seen in Sora’s POV towards Riku. 👀

I’m screaming. They released a Riku and Sora Medal as an unlockable for the “Valentine’s Deal”. So????? Riku and Sora are now, in my opinion, officially each other’s valentines, pass it on.

Scarlet Heart: Ryeo ending - today’s major heartbreak! 💔

My advanced thought betrayed me. I’ve always known that this drama won’t give us a happy ending, but I guess the pain is really different from what you have anticipated than what actually came. 😭 Imagine me crying a river at 4am while watching the last episode. It wasn’t the scene when Hae Soo died in Jung’s arms that made me dejected. It is when King Wang So lost his chance to see Hae Soo in person again, and only took with him that jar with her ashes, crying wretchedly as he leave the house. That is just sooo miserable to watch! 😭 Anyway, Goryeo is over. There’s no way history can change. So, the notion of Hae Soo going back to the future is there, and I harbored an ounce of hope that one day the two of them will meet again in the modern era (even a slightest screen time will help me survive!) But all hopes have forsaken me as I monitor the amount of minutes left for the last episode. THERE’S NO WANG SO X HAE SOO MEET-UP IN THE MODERN ERA. 💔 And when King Wang So said that he will surely find ‘My Soo’ in another life, that really pierced my heart. 😭 The last scene was a happy one though, but we know for a fact that that is just one of their happy memories together - a happy memory proving true that Wang So and Hae Soo indeed sincerely loved each other.

This is one extraordinary drama. It brought up scenes one wouldn’t expect. You won’t really guess what would happen next, unless you are an abnormal viewer who bothers digging up the history like me. 😂 It surprised, fluttered, angered, weighed me down in many ways than in all other dramas that I have watched. The actors were really great as they exhibit their charms to portray their roles. This drama isn’t star-studded for no reason. Indeed a must-watch! 😊

In Defense of Wang So: Scarlet Heart’s Controversial Kiss

Just putting in my two cents. I’ve been reading a lot of backlash for the kiss that happened in the most recent episode of Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart: Ryeo (a.k.a. “the longest title ever”, but I digress) between Hae So (IU) and Wang So (Lee Jun Ki). While I totally understand the distaste that a viewer might have for a forced kiss, or any kiss done under duress, I want to step in and just offer a little perspective.

I think you need to consider that this is NOT a modern romance, in which all the societal rules, and norms regarding femininity, masculinity, and romance are understood. For a man in a Sageuk to claim a woman as “his” and “his property” is a statement that carries some latent truth — for men to “claim” a woman would have been routine in the time period of the drama, so while seen through a modern scope, he appears sexist or misogynistic in actuality, he is no more sexist than Wang Wook (Kang Ha Neul) — who technically has also “claimed her”. They aren’t exactly two opposite sides of one coin in terms of their interactions with So, since this isn’t good vs evil between them, but civility vs savagery.

That brings me to another point. The characterization of Wang So. Here is a man, who has opposing realities — 1) he justifies corporal violence at every turn, but 2) is deeply and emotionally weakened by his scar and the neglect and hatred in represents. Instead of receiving familial love, he has received scorn and has internalized this. Where Wook and the others were generally loved by their parents, So was quite deliberately treated like a dog — a savage beast trained to kill. For So, he doesn’t just bite out of hatred for his master, but because like any dog in a dog fight, he has equated respect and love to what he could do for his master. When he goes to his mother after he has killed the men she and her son hire to dispatch the crown prince, So does it because violence is the only thing he can show to receive affection. It backfires spectacularly, but when all the tools laid out in front of are that you must take or else be taken, there isn’t much of an alternative.

So for his relationship with Hae So, he is (for the first time) not solidly in control of the outcome of his actions. He desperately wants to love someone, and have them love him, so the fact that he cannot make So react in the same way as he is reacting, is frustrating. Force is all he knows, so I don’t think it’s disrespect for Hae So that drives him to force himself upon her and claim her as “his” but desperation.

That’s hard wired in the character, in the performance, and in the writing. How that savagery is broken down, and healed is what I look forward to most. Wang So is as pitiful a character as it gets, and as a viewer, I am able to recognize his savage behavior and yet have some forgiveness and compassion for him. I think Hae So will too, eventually.

So I think it is abundantly necessary to step back and look at the context of the world that these characters live in — women’s rights, marriage for love, freedom from persecution and violence — none of these are commonplace, and they certainly aren’t absolutes. Just like it’s jarring for the audience to see these characters go to such lengths to protect what they desire, this truth is now becoming clearer to our heroine, and she must decide if she can, or even should, help to set it right.

Don’t hate me.

So, my theory on Infinite’s The Eye music video:

Myungsoo, in the beginning, is back to the place where all of his friends and him spent a lot of time in, after attending their funeral(s) (this is why he’s wearing a tuxedo). This causes him to get /dragged/ into a battle of emotions & self-blame (maybe Myungsoo think’s all his friend’s death is his fault) and almost suicide. Myungsoo puts the bag over his head, and starts to strangle himself. During this is when Myungsoo starts to “see” his friends (emotions).

At 1:05, the book reads 7 emotions: Desperate, Sadness, Fear, Regret, Hate, Courage, and Forgiveness.

At 1:17, the words “Regret” and “Hate” are painted around the bed. Around 1:33, it is shown that Hoya, represented as “Hate”, starts to fight with Myungsoo. But then once Myungsoo gains control over the “Hate”, it turns into “Regret”, as shown by how when they flip over, Hoya turns into Woohyun (regret).

This regret turns into fear (1:53), as shown by Myungsoo being pulled into the closet with the word “Fear” painted on it. I think this is a significant part because, throughout the MV, Sungyeol (fear) never really looks at Myungsoo in the face (maybe Myungsoo IS the cause for their deaths?). When they are all at the table (1:19), only Sungyeol is turned away from Myungsoo (again at 2:37). I think that Sungyeol is trying to show him that there’s a way to escape all this (heading towards the light).

However, Sunggyu shows up at 2:07 to pull Myungsoo away from the light, because he’s the only one courageous enough to do so (the word Courage” is on the chair Sunggyu drags him to at 2:13).

This then, turns into sadness, as represented by Sungjong. This period of sadness is short, however. This is represented as Sungjong wiping away Myungsoo’s tears (3:02). I take this as a form of forgiveness - Sungjong is forgiving Myungsoo.

Then at 3:11, regret, or Woohyun, appears again. But, this time, Woohyun touches Myungsoo’s shoulder, which Myungsoo responds to by touching back. I assume this to be Woohyun forgiving Myungsoo now.

At 3:35, he’s fighting with Hate again (Hoya). But, shortly after, Myungsoo is tired of fighting and finally collapses. Instead of Hoya continuing, he holds Myungsoo gently in his arms (3:44). Thus, signifying that Hoya forgives him.

After all this, Myungsoo realizes that none of his friends blame him (or at least most) and so, he can finally escape this “typhoon” and be at peace. At 4:15, when they are all standing, Myungsoo is seen to have his eyes closed, almost in a peaceful-looking state, while everyone elses is open. Finally, at 4:28, Sunggyu (courage), is able to bring light back into Myungsoo’s life (as represented by turning on the lamp).

Because of the /convenient/ eye holes in the bag (maybe this represents a little bit of hope?), it caused Myungsoo to only focus in a particular spot (4:30). Because of that, when the light turned on, it caused him to “wake up” and go back to reality.

So, yeah, that’s what I think of the MV. Maybe Dongwoo was not shown in the MV because he was represented as forgiveness in whole, if that makes sense. As for Sungyeol, I’m not sure if he’s forgiven Myungsoo, or if he’s too scared and fearful to.

Of course there are inconsistencies to my theory, so feel free to add on to this. I don’t even think my theory lines up with the lyrics, but whatever.

At first, I thought they were all ghosts haunting Myungsoo because the table scene gave me Ouija feelings.
