congratulations! you’re now a pirate. your seventh most recent emoji is the symbol on your flag. mine is ™️
y’know for me it straight up doesn’t even occur to me to unfollow someone when they stop posting whatever it is i followed them for. unless the thing they’re posting about now is somehow actually actively upsetting to me i just accept it as a part of my life now. i’ll just scroll past it like i’m driving a car and dodging an obstacle on the road. and that part of the road is my daily commute and the thing stays on the road forever and i swerve around it every day for months instead of ever taking the initiative to get it removed. it just adds flavor i guess

I already reblogged a post with links to abortion funds. But I would like to specifically mention the Yellowhammer Fund.
They serve the deep south, aka one of the regions that will be greatly fucked over by the Supreme Court’s ruling. Please consider donating to them if you have the means to do so.
Sick of so many people talking about this only in terms of womens rights. Not every woman has a uterus, not every person who has a uterus is a woman. This decision affects so many others that are being overlooked
don’t sign up for protests, don’t talk about going to protests on social media, don’t text people about going to protests, leave your phone at home. wear a mask. leave no personally identifiable information.
and watch out for undercover cops
(don’t take your phone period, unless it’s a burner)
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I need to let people know how dangerous the healthcare privacy climate is now. As someone that works with PHI (protected health information) I want to stress that HIPAA (the law that prevents your health data from being shared) does not apply to healthcare apps. These are incredibly dangerous to use, not only because law enforcement can procure a subpoena to access this information, but because these apps can sell your health data to any third party—potentially anti-abortion activists. Anyone with a uterus should delete not only period trackers, but mental health apps, because if you have a miscarriage or seek an abortion in a state that outlaws it, your mental health history can be used against you.
I would also discourage people from using online therapy apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace. Though BetterHelp says they are HIPAA compliant, that is a lie. They have shared data with Facebook. Their most recent privacy policy update says “We may share your information in connection with an asset sale, merger, bankruptcy, or other business transaction.” Any data breach could put your information at risk. Any health app could suddenly decide to change their privacy policies without notice.
Most responsible clinicians put your health data under (many times literally) lock and key. PHI software like Epic or Cerner have numerous failsafes to prevent data leaks. This is not the case for apps. BetterHelp and healthcare apps in general do not care about this. They only care about money. Do not trust any healthcare provider or app that operates strictly online. And for your own sake, use a VPN if you’re searching for abortion providers or advice.
Ms. Marvel (2022) - Episode 1 “Generation Why”, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah
US SUICIDE PREVENTION HOTLINE IS CHANGING ITS NUMBER
Taking effect July 2022, the US Suicide Prevention Hotline will change from 800-273-8255 to the three digit code of 988. Especially with families and communities reeling from back to back tragedies, it is super important to share this information!
Repeat: Starting July 2022, the US Suicide Prevention Hotline will be 988
Important add-ons, though, as someone who’s done policy work on this:
- It’s July 16, not just the start of July.
- 988 can not only be used as the suicide hotline, but for any sort of mental health or substance use crisis situation. As opposed to 911, the goal of 988 is that when dispatch is necessary, you’ll be met with a trained crisis response team rather than the police. The police will only be involved if there is an immediate threat to safety, which has almost never occurred in pilot programs - in one of the most well-known, Denver STAR, (which a lot of y’all seem to be familiar with) the police has actually never been called for backup. We’re hoping that this is going to get more individuals directed towards help rather than a prison cell.
Uhm yeah I’ll add more stuff if I can think of anything.
Thank you for the added information. Reblog this version as well, folkz.
Further information from news source verifying this:
It’s a national rollout of the number and mandatory for all states.
