if you can only watch one thing from this whole press tour, then go for the korean fan event. you don’t even have to watch the whole thing, but just skip to the last three minutes. that’s where you get to see who robert downey jr. really is.
he comes back onto the stage to tell all the fans, from the bottom of his heart, how thankful he is for them. he’s really someone who shows gratitude for his fans. he appreciates them and acknowledges that they’re a huge part of the reason he’s where he is today. he’s genuine.
most of the time, we only get to see him when he’s behind the ~tony stark persona~ (more specifically, pre-avengers pre-new york pre-ptsd “you know who i am” cocky tony stark persona). it’s a mask he wears a lot, especially when he’s doing press for marvel. so it’s easy to confuse him for his character, and say they’re the same person. and it’s true, he brings a lot of himself into the character he portrays and the lines get blurred a lot. but don’t forget that it’s a mask all the same.
and that guy who ran back onto the stage in korea to surprise the audience with a heartfelt speech about how incredible the last ten years have been for him all thanks to the fans? that’s robert downey jr.
