palamedes sextus was so real for writing an insane sequel to a shitty erotica book on the walls of his fucked up little river bubble prison. nothing else going on in there, just the same awful romance novel on repeat 600 times and his own little silly headcanons scrawled all over the nearest surface. outside there’s a million screaming ghosts and the only way to stay sane is to hyperanalyze the same story for eight months. that’s literally exactly what it feels like. he gets it

best thing tumblr ever did for me is the term "rotating it in my mind". it's really true that sometimes you think about something real hard but you can't tell what the thoughts are exactly. it's revolutionary stuff, i might even say

sometimes the subject of your thoughts is just in this thing

I'm working 6 days this week, then taking the 3-day weekend to road trip down to Mt. Fuji. I'm going to head from here directly to the Musashino Reiwa shrine in Saitama that I've always wanted to go to (with the gilded phoenix ceiling art drawn by Yoshitaka Amano!) and then on to some sightseeing points around Fuji. I'm gonna sleep in my car at the Michi no Eki like the vagabond I am, and be free. I think I really need this.

I'm planning to road trip up to Akita area for Golden Week, too, so I don't want to burn myself out on driving this weekend and might just go overnight, but if I have time, I might swing by Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma on the way back. That, or hit Mt. Tsukuba, which is a hike I have been meaning to do forever and a day, and it's only like an hour from here on the highway, but I haven't made the effort to get it done (and soon it'll be too hot.)

we like to joke about the stealth archer thing. for a decade and a half now. but i think the reason why it ends up being such a common build in skyrim is because it's the only combat style that is actually satisfying to play. melee is just strafing and spamming lmb, occasionally rmb if you want to block. magic is just strafing and holding lmb/rmb. stealth archery has an internal narrative arc. set up (targeting), tension (aiming), and release (release). doing it well rewards the player with a funny ragdoll

i don't think it's because it's the best (even though it is), it's just that it's just a vastly more satisfying gameplay loop. in reverse, i would hazard this is why very few people use bows and their main source of damage in dark souls - often opting for guts-sized swords. it has the same gameplay loop of mindlessly attacking and walking away as melee in skyrim

saw a poll about dry/humid heat and like OBVIOUSLY everyone preferred dry heat but. would love to know what everyone considers to be “too hot”

me personally it’s a hard cutoff at 75°F. don’t need anything more than that thank you 🫶🫶🫶

stupid fahrenheit temperatures screwing with my results...

Extremely Important Update: in April 2023 the World Bird Sanctuary had an orphaned eagle chick in need of care, so they decided to see if Murphy could live up to his parental ambitions.

He successfully raised the chick, which is now thriving with the other juvenile eaglets!

Congrats Murphy, you made it happen through sheer determination.

(Pictures are from the Facebook page of the World Bird Sanctuary; I can’t link them directly because I don’t have a FB account and the site is a nightmare to interact with if you’re not logged in, constantly resetting and kicking you to registration pages.)
