Jennie says: to make these bookends, I scoured the clearance aisle at Michael's and thrift stores. Initially, I wanted to make a question mark and exclamation point, but settled for my initials (and turquoise rhinestone ribbon!) instead. At the thrift store, I found metal bookends and a Pretty Little Liars book to cut up--sorry, Sara Shepard!
I painted the metal part a glossy turquoise. For the letters, I decoupaged book pages to the front of the letters with mod podge. A xacto knife helped trim around the edges and clean them up; I used Alene's Tacky Glue to slowly attach the ribbon. (This was the most time-consuming part!) Finally, I attached the letters to the stands with e-6000. The finished result: sparkly, subtly-YA bookends for a bargain! (Thanks to my mom and her epic craft room for the glue, paint, scissors, and knife!)
