real talk: i hope that druck won’t do the noora x william ship. or if they do it, do it in a way that is not manipulative and emotional abusive.
skam took the classical “bad boy who sleeps with all girls and had a bad childhood bohooo” plot and recycled it into a storyline about a man creepily asking out a girl multiple times and who then doesn’t respect her no and ends up blackmailing her to go out with him.
the classical trope alá “he treats girls like shit and trophies until “the one” comes along and changes him”. thing is, william didn’t change. not at all. the only thing he did was stop sleeping with other girls, which is the bare fucking minimum when you are in a relationship.
the only person in the relationship who really changed was noora herself. she adjusted herself to him, she changed her opinions for him, hell, she even dressed for him, she moved to fucking london with him while still a minor in school.
what did he do? write one speech for her. that’s it.
he treated her like crap, gaslighted her (the thing with his brother was not about him, it was about noora. did william care? no.) and found a new gf like days after noora left london bc she didn’t feel comfortable there. and then he returns bc of sana’s email (let’s not talk about how ooc that was) and she is gone the whole weekend, not even fucking messages. you can tell me that they were spending time together cuddling or whatever all you want, but completely cutting her contact to others off like that? it’s a sign of emotional abuse. noora would not ignore her friends for three days.
it’s just a fucked up, manipulative and abusive relationship and still people glorify it. and that’s so toxic for teens to see. bc no, this is not how a relationship should be.
i’m sick of seeing this three times in the remakes. i hope at least one has the guts to change things.
