A Liver for Jamie

Jamie is a four-year-old little girl who is currently at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as she awaits an organ donation to save her. Living in foster care her whole life, Jamie was born with a congenital liver condition and will now not survive without a transplant.

Anyone meeting some basic qualifications and willing to undergo the surgery may be able to donate a piece of their liver to save her. Three criteria that must be met include:

  1. Type O blood
  2. Between the ages of 18 and 55
  3. BMI of 30 or less and in healthy condition

Additional testing will be required to determine if a match has been made.

If you or someone you know is interested in testing for donation, the contact information for the UPMC kidney and liver donor coordinator is available in those articles.
