A math lesson:
S1 = filmed in early 2019, probably written late 2018
S2 = filmed in 2020 (started in Feb then had a pause due to covid), probably written in 2019
Josh and Olivia supposedly breaking up = sometime in the first half of 2020
Olivia’s career blowing up = Jan 2021
So many of the Rina seeds were written and planted way before either Olivia’s career blew up or Josh/Olivia broke up irl!
They literally wrote an entire musical cue in 2019 for Rina specifically, filmed that Gina monologue in 2019, the whole “I think we do that for each other” scene was 2020.
The only thing I think Tim kinda retconned or threw in after the fact was the Gina writing she loves Ricky in the hat, but overall I think Rina’s been a planned out friends to dating/right person wrong timing that finally gets the right timing type of slow burn.
Why did Kourtney’s subplot at Lewis college feel like a backdoor spin off pilot?
(I actually think that would be really cool! I think Dara is super talented and could lead a show! But idk if Tim did intentionally)

From the start? I mean I don't think while writing the pilot they had any endgame or vision in mind...I think they were just writing a pilot.
But since writing 1x06? Yeah definitely! (Tim has even said as much in a bunch of interviews). So I think Rina has been planned since early 2019 for sure
Which means I also think Rina endgame would have happened regardless of Olivia leaving the show or not.

There’s literally pictures of the first season 2 table read from February 2020, meaning the scripts were written probably like late 2019 aka all before any Olivia/Josh supposed break up stuff….and there’s still some people posting Tim didn’t plan a Rini break up regardless??

-the humor was better
-it was kinda unhinged but I appreciate the dedication to that unhingedness
-Frozen was hands down their best production so far (and yes EJ def deserved recognition!!)
-the new characters (Maddox, Jet) were actually fleshed out and compelling unlike Lily and the French accent boy from last season
-Nini’s send off was fitting
-Kourtney in a starring role? Yes please
-Less Seblos (okay like I love them but Tim needs to stop writing Seb like he has half a brain cell and Carlos just saying “oh no honey…” please)
-adults like Miss Jenn were in small doses (I don’t have a strong Miss Jenn tolerance lol)
-and lastly, nothing will be worse than a whole freaking season dedicated to the Menkie awards only for them to be like “lol nvm!!!!”
