im claire The only motive that there ever was was to completely control a person - a person I found physically attractive. And keep them with me as long as possible, even if it meant just keeping a part of them. - Jeffrey Dahmer
*NOTE* I am not attracted to nor am i a fan of the criminals i post about, i am just interested in reading and learning about them.

“Experts warn Ian Brady is ‘still extremely dangerous’ as report finds the 76-year-old serial killer is suffering from ‘chronic psychotic illness’ Hospital records showed that Brady has hallucinations, continues to talk to himself while alone, has been violent and abusive to other patients and staff, and leads a largely ‘nocturnal’ existence - only leaving his room at night and shunning other patients and staff he regards as beneath him.”

One of the most infamous disappearances in the history of London involved 25-year-old real estate agent Suzy Lamplugh. Lamplugh was last seen at her office at Sturgis Estate Agents on July 28, 1986, but she mysteriously disappeared after leaving to show a house to a potential client in Fulham. According to Lamplugh’s notes, the client’s name was “Mr. Kipper,” and their appointment was scheduled for 12:45 PM. Lamplugh never returned from this appointment, and her car was discovered about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 mi) away from the Fulham house. Witnesses in the area saw Lamplugh argue with an unidentified man on the street that day before she climbed into another vehicle. An investigation turned up no trace of Lamplugh, and she was declared legally dead in 1994. Authorities thought that Mr. Kipper was a serial rapist named John Cannan, who happened to have been released from prison three days before Lamplugh’s disappearance. He reportedly went by the nickname “Kipper” and resembled the unidentified man seen talking with Lamplugh. In 1989, Cannan was convicted of the murder of another woman and received three life sentences. One of Cannan’s former girlfriends eventually told police that he had bragged about raping and killing Lamplugh, and he was questioned about his role in her disappearance. Even though the police had a strong circumstantial case against Cannan, there was not enough evidence to charge him with Lamplugh’s murder. Nevertheless, they publicly announced their belief that Cannan was the culprit. Cannan remains incarcerated for the other murder and has always denied murdering Lamplugh.

Serial killer Arthur Shawcross murdered 11 women from 1988 to 1990 in upstate New York, earning the nickname “The Genessee River Killer.”

Arthur Shawcross’ parents dispute his claims that he was molested as a child, but it’s clear that he was troubled. In 1972, he confessed to killing two children and went to prison. His records were sealed so he could settle in a new town without causing a panic. But from 1988 to 1990, Shawcross killed 11 women in upstate New York, earning the nickname “The Genessee River Killer.” He died in prison.

Killing Time - a poem by Simon Armitage

Meanwhile, somewhere in the state of Colorado, armed to the teeth with thousands of flowers, two boys entered the front door of their own high school and for almost four hours gave floral tributes to fellow students and members of the staff beginning with red roses strewn among unsuspecting pupils during their lunch hour, followed by posies of peace lilies and wild orchids. Most thought the whole show was one elaborate hoax using silk replicas of the real thing, plastic imitations, exquisite practical jokes, but the flowers were no more fake than you or I, and were handed out as compliments returned, favors repaid, in good faith, straight from the heart. No would not be taken for an answer. Therefore a daffodil was tucked behind the ear of a boy in a baseball hat, and marigolds and peonies threaded through the hair of those caught on the stairs or spotted along corridors until every pupil who looked up from behind a desk could expect to be met with at least a petal or a dusting of pollen, if not an entire daisy chain, or the color-burst of a dozen foxgloves, flowering for all their worth, or a buttonhole to the breast. Upstairs in the school library, individuals were singled out for special attention: some were showered with blossom, others wore their blooms like brooches or medallions; even those who turned their backs or refused point-blank to accept such honors were decorated with buds, unseasonable fruits and rosettes the same as the others. By which time a crowd had gathered outside the school, drawn through suburbia by the rumor of flowers in full bloom, drawn through the air like butterflies to buddleia, like honey bees to honeysuckle, like hummingbirds dipping their tongues in, some to soak up such over-exuberance of thought, others to savor the goings-on. Finally, overcome by their own munificence or hay fever, the flower-boys pinned the last blooms on themselves, somewhat selfishly perhaps, but had also planned further surprises for those who swept through the aftermath of bloom and buttercup: garlands and bouquets, planted in lockers and cupboards, timed to erupt either by fate or chance, had somehow been overlooked and missed out. Experts are now trying to say how two apparently quiet kids from an apple-pie town could get their hands on a veritable rain-forest of plants and bring down a whole botanical digest of one species or another onto the heads of classmates and teachers, and where such fascination began, and why it should lead to an outpouring of this nature. And even though many believe that flowers should be kept in expert hands only, or left to specialists in the field such as florists, the law of the land dictates that God, guts and gardening made the country what it is today and for as long as the flower industry can see to it things are staying that way. What they reckon is this: deny a person the right to carry flowers of his own and he’s liable to wind up on the business end of a flower somebody else had grown. As for the two boys, it’s back to the same old debate: is it something in the mind that grows from birth, like a seed, or is it society that makes a person that kind?

"Dahmer changed the way I looked at my entire approach to profiling. For the first time, I’d seen an organized killer who lost control in a psychotic episode. It taught me that not everything was black and white."

Robert Ressler, a criminal profiler for the FBI, agreed to interview Dahmer in preparation for his insanity defense trial. Ressler categorized Dahmer as neither a classic organized or a classic disorganized killer, but as a “mixed” offender who was legally insane during some of his later murders. Ressler believed Dahmer should have lived out his life in a secure mental institution rather than a prison.

Leslie Van Houten, Patricia “Katie” Krenwinkel and Susan “Sadie” Atkins, commonly known as the “Manson girls”, were active participators in the infamous Tate/LaBianca murders, in 1969.
Van Houten, 19, was the youngest. Having only been involved in the LaBianca murders (she stabbed Rosemary LaBianca 16 times), she said she wished she had been there the night of the Tate murders. Van Houten would giggle during testimony, thus lost the sympathy of the jurors. She was convicted of murder and sentenced to death, later commuted to life in prison.
Krenwinkel, aka “Katie”, was 20 when she joined up with Manson. Two years later, she participated in both the Tate and LaBianca murders (specifically, stabbed Abagail Folger to death) and is the one who notoriously wrote in blood on the walls of the LaBianca home, “DEATH TO PIGS” and “HeaLter SkeLTter.” She was sentenced to death, later commuted to life in prison.
Atkins, aka “Sadie”, was a 21-year-old mother of a 10-month-old baby the night she stabbed pregnant Sharon Tate to death. Also involved in the LaBianca and Hinman murders, Sadie was sentenced to death in 1971, later commuted to life in prison. Her cellmate said of her, “Sadie was so far out, even the bull dykes wouldn’t mess with her.”
