Tonight Marron and Goten are off to West City to find out The Plan, and an old face reappears to ruin the day...
"Don't look at me like that," he said. With her face perfectly covered, her ki would have carried her exasperation instead. "His Majesty can't suddenly tell me what to wear when he gets caught with his khakis on." The high wind stole most of his enunciation, but the sense of his words were threaded through his ki, and Marron's proficient lip reading filled the gaps.
Marron pulled her scarf away from her mouth; she wanted to be precise when telling him off. "No, but I can ask you to and I'm asking you now. We were almost outed. If one of us falls, no matter our precautions it won't be long before we all do, and we're not in the clear yet."
Goten pouted. "Fine, fine. It's dumb to worry about it after literally decades, but if it gets you off my back -" he pulled a black and white woollen ski mask from his back pocket. "I said I didn't have anything, so Gohan gave me this." Marron held Goten's sunglasses as he pulled the mask over his head. The mask had panda markings, complete with rounded ears.
Marron snorted. "So he called your bluff."
Goten snatched the glasses back. He spoke, though with his face covered the wind wiped his muffled words entirely. [Now, Pan in West. Uub join us in West.] he'd layered in ki. Pan had stayed West's Friday night, Uub would meet them there, and Goten was pointedly not rising to the further taunt.
"Then lead the way, Mr Bear," Marron said, recovering her face with the scarf.
With an internal sense that could only have been an eye roll, Goten blasted past her to start the sunward climb, the panda ears waggling in the wind. Marron laughed, then kicked in the push to follow. [...]
