just learned that coke as in coca-cola as in the famous carbonated soda is canon in star wars and frankly I am upset
@jetiisse pointed out that the existence of Coca Cola in Star Wars implies the existence of real, actual, honest-to-god space cocaine, which means that not only does spice (fake space cocaine) exist, but it is in direct competition with coke (real space cocaine)
of all the countless products to make canon for the advertising deals, they had to choose the one that implied the existence of actual cocaine in Star Wars
I feel like everyone need to be aware that there is also diet coke:
and sprite:
and they’re in there cause they serve the drinks at galaxy’s edge so they made them a part of star wars.
which I think is the funniest thing to happen to star wars canon since they decided darth vader’s lightsaber can change lengths because of special effects inconsistencies in the original movies.
“Disneyland insisting that Star Wars land is canon accidentally made cocaine canon” is perhaps the funniest sentence in existence

You over Her [not as a body but as a steeple]
I made this when I was 18 and struggling with internal and external homophobia. The church both destroyed my perception of myself directly, and of my people through colonialism. I understand this can be seen as a disrespectful comic, but Catholicism killed every gentle thing my people had so drawing nuns kissing is… fine, ultimately. This comic is about how tender, consensual, and heart full love is holier than any oppressive institution.
What I love about this gif is that taken out of context it looks really serious and dramatic and as if Kira has reached a point where she has to say NO MORE and hold onto her INTEGRITY and REFUSE TO COMPROMISE HER MORALS FOR ANYONE when actually in context she doesn’t want to play hopscotch.

circling back around to the issue of writers being expected to do all their own goddamn marketing via social media these days, because it completely nixes the possibility of writers being weird shut ins, off-putting eccentrics, or misanthropes. 80% of the literary canon was written by weird shut ins, off-putting eccentrics, and misanthropes. if you weed out everyone who’s the wrong kind of insane to maintain a twitter presence, who on earth is left
i heard a talk about this by a terrific mystery novelist, John Straley, titled “In Defense of Misanthropes in the Arts.”
I’ll never forget him sharing his candid fear that authors like him, authors who did not want to post on Facebook or Twitter, authors who wanted to be curmudgeonly and left alone, were being steadily squeezed out of the writing world as publishers foisted more and more promotional work directly onto authors. Not everyone is cut out for the spotlight. Not everyone wants to be their own hype man. Not everyone presents well in 280 characters, especially in a space they don’t even want to be present. The time suck, the scrutiny, the punishment for making a “mistake” -- all this extracurricular work is so different from actual writing.
Make room for weird reclusive shut-in eccentric misanthropic artists and writers. Don’t forget those voices are worth your attention, too.

Also, I keep Sephardic kosher for Passover so I kindly ask people to leave me and my chickpea pasta alone and mind your business.

The looks I get when I tell people I don’t turn over my kitchen for Pesach. My wife isn’t Jewish and she does most of our cooking, and I just don’t want to put her through that. She already graciously keeps kosher for Passover with me.
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether you’ve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they aren’t and therefore will act like they aren’t, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
wow. really hope this isn't actually a norm taking hold with new users! this isn't facebook, you don't need to know people before following them
