this exchange is like a microcosm of all internet discourse

I don’t have any mobile phone network in or around my farm, but I can get some spotty reception if I pace around the woods for a good while. So now when I want to send or receive a text, and it’s too cold or dark to go outside and walk aimlessly for half an hour, I attach my phone to Pandolf’s collar and send him out in the forest. Usually when he comes home after taking my phone for a walk the text is successfully sent. He’s like those rescue mountain dogs with a little barrel of whiskey round their necks, but the millennial version.

For the record, they were arguing over *whether or not they should get married*. She was pro, he was con, saying that if they loved each other the ring and the marriage certificate were unnecessary, that their love would be the commitment they needed. This was a fight they’d had for weeks. He didn’t just propose to shut her up in a totally unrelated argument…. him proposing was also him saying “you’re right, you won the argument” and that’s why this is cute.

Also- I can’t find it right now, for some reason- but the “happycat has run out of happy” was referencing not just the format of “[thing]cat is [thing]” but specifically another meme with an identical cat smiling (“happycat is happy”). Possibly it’s the same cat.

What a great job! do you pull the door closed when you leave? I noticed that there wasn’t a pull on the other side.

I didn’t even think about that! I usually don’t shut doors; I just wanted to see if he could apply opening cabinets with tugs to this situation. I’m going to have to put a tug on the other side and see what he makes of that.
