Hamada Hiro. Kid genius. Superhero. Bot fighter. I'd say, "Nice to meet you", but that's ordinary and boring, and frankly, I don't have time for that. -independent RP blog; no shipping; any timeline; any AU-

The Canvas is His Wrist || alivebutscarred

He had a bit of an idea of the emotionally damage that his accident caused Hiro but he had no idea what the boy was doing to cope with it. He knew Hiro was suffering but he couldn’t much unless the younger spoke to him about it…Tadashi was a mess but he knew that if he poked and prodded Hiro about it, the boy would go back to being recluse. Tadashi was a deep sleeper but this time, a shrill scream jolted him awake, wide awake. Propping himself up on his elbows, he sleepily looked at Hiro’s side of the room (despite the divider in between), “Hiro?” his voice groggy from sleep. He tried to blink the sleep out of his eyes. "Hiro?" he called again, voice clearer, "What’s wrong?" he asked, pulling himself up so he could sit properly. Rubbing his eye, he wondered if he should go over there to check on the boy. He heard rustling as if the boy was burying himself deeper into his sheets, a frown came to his lips, something was wrong… Pulling his wheelchair closer to his bed before he lifted himself into the seat with care. It took him forever to even learn how to do this without assistance, after all, he can’t always have someone helping him, he’d just inconvenience them. Tadashi rolled towards the opening that connected his side of the room to Hiro’s. Hearing the scratches on the door, he pulled it open to let the cat in before rolling towards his brother’s bed. Reaching out to touch Hiro’s shoulder, “Come on, buddy. Talk to me….What’s wrong?” he asked, voice filled with concern.

Hiro slightly lifted the covers as he heard Tadashi coming over, but he tried to stay quiet and make evidence of his tears disappear from his face by wiping it with his sleeve. He hissed when he put pressure on his cuts, but, quickly pushed the thought out of his head out of shame.

He jumped a bit when he felt Tadashi's hand touch his shoulder. "It's nothing..." He said shakily, his body trembling despite himself. Hiro would've told Tadashi any of his problems any day, but with the way things have been lately, with how much stress was put on the entire family, Hiro felt that it'd be better to shoulder his own problems.

"Just a bad dream..." He mumbled. He felt Mochi crawling onto the bed and trying to dig his way into the covers. "Sorry I woke you." Hiro muttered. He didn't really push Mochi away, but he instead drew the covers tighter around himself to keep the cat from snaking into the sheets with him. Cats had a sixth sense, practically, Hiro thought, though he could've sworn that it was some fib that Aunt Cass had told him when he was younger.

Tadashi stopped to stir the soup before looking over at the kid, he was going to let him treat his arm awesome. His thoughts stopped as he looked to his arm, a bite…but this kid didn’t look anything like someone who was infected…and the bite looked really old. He paused, he was known to take things slow, and cautiously. This was not a time to flip out and scare the kid…no matter how scared he was himself.

He meet his gaze before he knelled down, taking his arm carefully in his grasp. “It definitely is a bite.” He managed to finally mutter as his eyes traced over the details. “How long ago was this…?” he asked as he used his free to hand to grab the medical kit again, pulling it to his side as he waited for Hiro to answer.  "From my studies, most people turn in a day. This…this looks older then a day." He said as he glanced back up at him again before looking to the medical kit, his hand letting go of his arm. Hiro had to be immune. As much as he didn’t want to get his hopes up…it was the only explanation he could find in science.  He grabbed a few things from the kit, handing him a small pill and a small bottle of water. "Take this." He said flatly as he started to focus.  It was really easy to tell when whatever was said to him, would just go right over his head. He tended to do that when he was focusing on a task. He then grabbed a clean rag before pouring a small amount of liquid on it. He looked to him yet again, before going to place the rag on the wound. “This will hurt a little bit.” He said as he pressed the cold rag to his skin, he added a small amount of pressure as he held it there for a few moments. “That pill is an antibiotic. It will kill any infection in your blood stream, and stop infection.” He said as he lifted the rag looking to it once more. "You don’t have an infection yet…it was just irritated from the shirt rubbing up and down." He said with a small smile, "We won’t have to cut off your arm." He joked, before grabbing some gauze and beginning to wrap the wound gently. He then tore the end down the middle before tying it. Tadashi inspected his work before looking back to his gaze, "Feel any better?" He asked as he moved to stand.

Hiro hissed as the cloth met his bite wound. "It's...old." He answered. "I was bitten about a week ago. My aunt, too..." He trailed off, almost getting a little misty-eyed. He chugged the water down, his throat dryer than a desert. He looked at the pill curiously.

Was he supposed to eat it?

He popped it in his mouth and crunched down on it. The bitter, dusty taste that came with it made him almost gag, but he grimaced instead and chugged more water to wash the awful taste out of his mouth. He hoped he didn't have to do that again any time soon.

He silently cheered at the prospect of not having to have his arm chopped off and tossed out to the infected. "Yeah, loads better. It doesn't sting as much as it was earlier." Hiro curiously peered at the soup that was now bubbling in the pot.

"Has there ever been anyone else...?" Hiro asked quietly. "Anyone else you've seen who's lived a bite like me?"

He motioned for Hiro to come closer, “Come here…the fire should warm you up.” He said with a small grin before trying to warm his hands up before standing and going over to a corner. He snagged up his first aid kit before he glanced at him. “Want me to look at your arm?” he asked as he glanced over his shoulder, before returning to the fire as he began to look through the supplies.

He let out a sigh before he rolled up his own sleeve, revealing a large gash on his arm, he winced as the fabric tore at it. But he had to treat it almost daily if he wished for it to heal correctly. He paused as he glanced at Hiro, before looking back to his stitched wound.   ”I know it looks back, but I managed to find some disinfectant.” He muttered as he wet a rag before dabbing the outside of his cut. He hissed a bit in pain gritting his teeth a tad. “but…it doesn’t mean it hurts any less.” He said with a small grin as he glanced over at him before finishing up. He pulled his sleeve down again before looking to his. He wanted to at least look at it, even if  it wasn’t minor. Though anything in these days could be more then what it seemed. He placed the first aid kit down before using a knife to open a can. He then poured it into the pot, the soup simmering slightly as it hit the hot surface.

Hiro shivered as he scooted closer. The sweat had cooled on his skin and brought goosebumps. He briefly hesitated before he settled down by the fire, taking in its warmth. He was thankful for Tadashi taking him in, and saving his life, practically. The smell of the soup beginning to bubble hit his senses, and Hiro realized just how hungry he was.

He remembered his Aunt Cass telling him how things used to be. It was kind of ridiculous. Why would people want to be skinny? Why did people want to eat veggies instead of a nice chunk of meat? Blame people for loving one another? It was a whole other world.

Hiro wondered sometimes, if the apocalypse had made the people better. If it taught them to love everyone they came across and save what was left of humanity, no matter where they came from or what they were like. He knew, of course, the price that was paid because of it.

"Um..." He didn't really know what to say. Would Tadashi be scared of Hiro? He could turn any day. He could become a monster like Aunt Cass literally overnight. But, the fact was is that it was infected from the lack of antiseptics and treatment. He didn't feel like a zombie, but, he certainly didn't want to get his arm amputated from something stupid like an infection. "Yeah." He finally answered.

He pinched his sleeve and pulled it up as gently as possible. The ugly bite wound looked as terrible as ever. It was red around the edges and stung with every movement. Underneath all the crusted blood was swollen flesh. There was no doubt about it. It was definitely a bite wound. "I-I'm not..." He trailed off. He honestly didn't know. "I don't think I'm infected...I haven't turned. Haven't felt any different." Hiro glanced down at his sneakers.

OOC: MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALL!!!

Question: If Hiro was a guardian (like in RoTG), then what would he be the guardian of? What would be his center?

Unintelligible mutters left his mouth as he shifted his position. “Remember to shut the lights,” he said through a yawn. Burying his head back into his pillow, he allowed Morpheus to claim his mind once again. He had been sleeping better nowadays, which was good. No dreams, no nightmares…So all was quite good, for him that was. He still had yet to figure out Hiro’s own turmoil. If there was a third person view of the situation, that person would tell Tadashi that he was too self-centered. All Tadashi had been thinking about was himself. How was he going to get out of bed? How was he going to survive another day? Battle his problems and struggle through his memory loss…Him, him, him, him, him… Tadashi’s mind was only filled with his own problems, his view of the world narrowed after the accident and he hadn’t been seeing much of anyone else’s problems. The old Tadashi would have noticed so many things; the problems of the usual cafe goers, his brother’s struggles, his friends’ concerns but now, all he could think of was himself. Dragging the covers tighter to him, he shielded his face from the rays of light escaping from behind the bathroom door. A content sigh left his mouth once he had found a comfortable position and the light was no longer in his face.

Tadashi ducked a bit as he heard the gun go off, before keeping up with the kid. He followed close behind him, chucking two or three pieces of wood back at them, that was his defense. And it worked better then he thought. The kid had a good shot for his age, and man was he thankful for it.
The Kid went down, and he instantly dropped the wood remaining in his hands kicking the bastard away. He held his hand out to him, and locked them as he took hold.  Unsure if the kid had recovered fully he simply scooped him up before running into the lab doors quickly closing them behind him. His chest heaving as he continued to move. Going up a flighty of stairs before making it to a large room, where he had clearly set up camp. He closed that door as well,  placing Hiro down inside…. He rested his hands on his knees as he caught his breath glancing over at him, “Good cover back there…” he managed to say between breaths.
He looked around the room before moving a large metal sheet to cover the door, and the remaining uncovered windows. Still a bit out of breath he looked to Hiro…”so… how about some Soup?” He asked a small grin on his lips as he moved over to a corner where he had a small fire already lit. He added a few more pieces of wood, before placing a pot above the fire.

Normally, Hiro would be very much against being escorted to safety in the arms of someone else. But, right now, he couldn't really argue against it as Tadashi had longer legs and could carry him, and honestly, if anything, Hiro could still cover them while they were running. Well, while Tadashi was running.

He peeked over Tadashi's shoulder and fired a couple of shots, slowing down the remainder of the infected that were quite persistent in following them.

Hiro was surprised at being put down, but, he managed to balance himself. He took in gulps of air like he'd just been drowning. Breathing was a privilege to him right now. He could have certainly taken his last breath back there. To be breathing now was a miracle.

"Thanks..." Hiro said, standing up straight from his hunched over position. "Some soup would be nice..." He hadn't eaten real food in however many days had passed since he and his Aunt Cass were bitten. Hiro pulled up the sleeve of his jacket and stared at the bite wound. It looked a little infected, like a cut or a normal wound would. But as far as he could tell, he felt no symptoms of someone infected.

He was just befuddled. How? How had he lived this long? How had he not turned yet? So many questions, and very little answers.
