Aquanna loved exploring every nook and cranny of Wayne manor, including the Batcave. It used to be off-limits, but when nothing seemed to keep her out, Alfred relented and simply ruled that she was not allowed in there alone. For now, the little girl was looking closely at some of the artifacts collected from villains while Damian trained. She stopped at the Joker card, tilting her head.
Damian was focusing half on her, half on his training, punching and kicking the poor, abused boxing bag that was already stitched together multiple times and would probably need to be completely replaced soon.
He noticed her stopping at one of the artifacts and decided to drop training for now. His arms felt sore anyway.
He walked over to her, curious to see what captured her interest. Seeing the joker card however, he instinctively made a somewhat angry expression, but tried to keep it down. He wasn't angry at her, but at who the card came from.
He breathed deeply to calm himself, steadying his voice as he spoke, with zero trace of his previous emotions. "Hey, what'd you find there?"
The card was much larger than a normal playing card, with the face of the famous villain grinning down at her. It made her uncomfortable, but it was hard to look away.
โHow come you have a picture of a clown down here?โ It looked...familiar? Like sheโd seen this face before and it wasnโt a good experience. When Damian approached she finally managed to look away, instead looking up at the young hero.
"It's the Joker... Our worst villain. He's built entire graveyards, repeatedly attacked the family and did many awful things.." Damian responded, his voice grim.
"This card is from when he tried to set up a trap where he used oversized models of casino games including dice, cards and pinballs. Obviously, Batman beat him in his own game, and after took back both the card and a couple of dice."
The small girl looked back up at the card. The Joker. That sounded familiar too. Very familiar. It was only another moment or two before she seemed to piece something together. Her hand went up to squeeze his, and she looked very afraid. Maybe she shouldnโt be wandering this section anymore.
He noticed, lightly squeezing her hand in return. "It's alright... He can't hurt you here. You're safe with us." His voice was soft, but self-assured. He knew how it felt to be afraid.
"Listen, I will not force you to talk about what did and didn't happen between you and the Joker. But, if you ever feel the need to talk, I'll be right here and ready to listen. I can also just be a silent comfort if you'd prefer that."
Damian was always a great comfor to her, so just being there and reassuring her was enough to keep her from getting too upset. Aquanna shook her head, reaching up to be held by the other.
โI remember him...heโs a really bad man...โ She held tightly to Damian, burying her face in his shoulder to hide from the playing cardโs constant stare.
Damian lifted her up gently, holding her in his arms as he walked away from the card, bringing her back upstairs to the living room, far away from the clown's gaze.
He'd ask Bruce later to cover the card with something as to not scare her as much. He didn't make much of a response, just humming to signal he was listening to her, and to continue only if she wanted.
Aquanna hid her face until they were out of the Batcave, where she knew she was safe. โHe wanted to take me from the big truck, and he got mad when I wasnโt there...โ She whined at the memory.

โโ Youโre not alone anymore, youโve got me kid. โโ - @Eyeless-Jack-RP
From here
Aquanna looked up at Jack. Most would be put-off by his masked face, but it was quickly becoming a comfort to her. The little girl smiled, not hesitating to reach her arms around his legs and hug tight.
โAnd you got me! Iโm not going anywhere!โ She grinned up at him.
I promise Iโm here itโs just Iโm having difficulty getting back in the saddle. My messages are open if anyone wants to plot anything!

It was a good thing he took the moment to help the little fossil, otherwise it would have already scampered off again. He warily watched the Beedrill, but otherwise seemed to have mostly calmed down.
As the man spoke, Aquanna went from stressed to slightly less stressed. At least the man didnโt seem angry, and his Pokรฉmon (while a bit scary) wasnโt mean.
โU-UmโฆOmma got scared of a Persian and I didnโt wanna lose him.โ The Phantump floated up to rest on her head, leaving both arms to cradle the Omanyte. Then the little girl tilted her head. โIโm not lost, I know where I am. Iโm always out here.โ The skinny girl shuffled her bare feet.
โA Persian, huh? Alolan, or Kantonian? I donโt really think eitherโs all that scary, granted, but I heard they can be pretty mean. Still, donโt judge aย โMon by itsย โDex entry, and all that - Beedrill get a bad rap as a species, but mineโs sweeter than cake!โ
As Guzma speaks, the aforementioned insect flies closer to Aquanna, buzzing softly as a form of greeting.ย
โSo, you ainโt lost, then? Thatโs good. I hate giving directions to tourists. You might not mindย โem now, but when ya grow up, youโll probably be sick ofย โem, too.โ
โAlolan! It was really mean! It tried to grab him!โ The Beedrill getting closer caused her shy Phantump to shrink back slightly, but the little girl just watched. Of course she would never judge him, especially when he was clearly just being nice. In fact, the warm greeting got her to calm down even more, as did the manโs talking.
Aquanna managed to giggle and smile. โYou talk a lot, mister!โ It was merely an observation, and she honestly was glad he did. Not many people wanted to talk to someone like her. Omanyte responded to the large insect with a trill-like gurgle in greeting.

โOmma!! Slow down!!โ
Aquanna struggled to keep up with her little Omanyte as it skittered down the road. The poor thing had been scared by an angry Yungoos and bolted. It wasnโt uncommon for this to happen, but it was the hottest day of the year so far. The blue-haired girl was quickly running out of steam, and nearly lost her grip on the Phantump in her arms more than once.
In his panic the small fossil Pokรฉmon didnโt notice someone in his path, and smacked into the leg of a man with white hair and yellow sunglasses. He squeaked and whined but finally stopped, giving the tiny girl a chance to catch-up.
โOmma!โ She quickly reached down to scoop him up in her other arm and backed away from the adult. Hopefully he wouldnโt be too upset. โIโm really sorry mister! Omma just got scared! He didnt mean to!โ
Guzma glances down as he feels the Omanyte bump into him. Perhaps, during a rougher period of his life, he might have lost his temper at the young girl, but now, he instead bends down, helping to steady the Fossil Pokemon before Aquanna picks him up.
โItโs fine. Stuff like that happens with Pokemon.โ Above Guzma flies a Beedrill, who pauses in his examining of a market stall to look at their new companions, as it were.
โThatโs my Beedrill - canโt blame you for havinโ Pokemon out, ya know, since most people do, I mean, look at me - and he ainโt dangerous. I gotta say that as a disclaimerย โcause of how many people freak the fuck out when they see one. Sucks that people are so damn rude all the time - Oh. Right. Yer a kid. Donโt repeat that.โย
Reaching out, he plucks the Bug from the sky, adding,ย โWhere were you goinโ in such a hurry anyway, kid? You lost or something?โย
