Hurricane Matthew barrels into Haiti

Hurricane Matthew made landfall near Les Anglais, Haiti, at 7 a.m. this morning, pelting the small island nation — still recovering from a devastating 7.0 earthquake in 2010 — with rain and wind that could lead to “life-threatening” conditions.

Update: Hurricane Matthew may be on a steady path towards the east cost of the U.S. — and its effects be felt all the way up the Eastern Seaboard

At least three states are already starting to take precaution.

BRUH. Y'all really gotta pray for Haiti because even when there are minor hurricanes that pass over the country, people die in the THOUSANDS. This is a major hurricane, it’s estimated that tens of thousands of people are going to die. There is never any adequate evacuation exercises because no money and no transport so people have nowhere to go and just stay where they are. They STAY having mudslides because of deforestation. Most people who live in shanty towns have houses that cannot stand hurricane force winds.

Like guys, this hurricane will be devastating to Haiti. Also, I live in The Bahamas and half of the islands are STILL recovering from hurricane Joaquin from last year (which had similar conditions to Matthew). Most of the islands, esp New Providence (which is the island where the capital is and houses about 2/3 of the population) are very low lying and has so many areas that flood so easily. So you can imagine a category 4 hurricane coming thru. Like this storm might devastate us.

Guys, please keep your eyes open for when organizations ask for donations to go towards hurricane relief because Haiti, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Cuba and the DR are going to need every cent.
