What does love mean to you?

Hayao Miyazaki said that love is two people inspiring each other to live. And to live doesn’t just mean to be alive. Living involves finding beauty in the simple moments of being. So to inspire someone to be in awe of the simplicity of living. And I don't think I could articulate it any better than that.

My roommate thought she hated cooking and then she moved in with me and started using knives that were actually sharp and realized cooking is fun. Sometimes I wonder how many other situations are like this. It's not you, or your skills. It's just the lack of correct tools. Everyone knows you need a knife in the kitchen but no one mentions a sharpening stone.

Also you should probably sharpen your knife.

Speaking less metaphorically I literally do wonder how many people would realize Cooking Doesn't Suck if only they had sharper knives. Cutting vegetables is not supposed to be a workout. You're not supposed to apply force when you press down. If you have to force the knife down then the knife is dull! This is a fixable problem!

"why does anyone believe in the seven when it's the only religion that doesn't have noticeable magic"

1. that's not the point of popular religion my guy

2. the seven have practically made davos immortal

And it was the common people's religion first! The Seven don't include a king and a queen, but just a mother and father, young and old women, fighting and working men, ordinary people's roles and jobs. And it's part of the doctrine that even monarchs must bow to the Seven just like everybody else. It's about as ground-level as a religion gets, and open to everyone. The village septs with the Seven as crude charcoal drawings on the walls, with a layman leading prayers once a week, they're just as valid and real to the common people as the grandest marble sept in King's Landing or Oldtown.

Yes, also never forget that the Faith of the Seven was the religion of the Andals who fled Essos in advance of expanding Valyrian imperialism. To them, Westeros was the promised land, free from slavery. It's no wonder that slavery is an abomination to the Faith (tbf it's such to the Old Gods too), and banned in Westeros for thousands of years.

And that's not even getting into how ecumenical the Faith is, how swearing by "the old gods and the new" is a thing, how the remaining followers of Mother Rhoyne live in peace with their Faith-following neighbors in Dorne, and how a septon can even assert other gods are the reason for the weather. There are militants and fanatics, but they're rare (or used to be), and those who would disturb this peace between neighbors of different faiths were usually shut down quickly.

So yeah, the Faith doesn't need "real" magic to be as popular and successful as it is among the common people. It's real to them, dammit.

one must imagine sisyphus bouncing on it

...isn't that Tantalus, not Sisyphus?

i feel like the metaphor works both ways. tantalus is always chasing a relief that is just out if reach, while sisyphus works hard in order to achieve completion that never comes. consequently, they could have been cursed to have infinite sex and still maintain the nature of both their punishments

......who tops and who bottoms though

depends on the position. as sisyphus' punishment specifically requires him to make an effort in order to reach his goal, while tantalus' doesn't, he would have to be the one to make the most movement. so, if they're going cowgirl or reverse cowgirl or other position where the bottom rides the top, sisyphus bottoms. otherwise, I'd say he tops in most situations
