Tumblr update schedule

Since week to week it gets a little daunting updating 3-4 places, updates here can fall off/lead to gaps. I’m debating just posting complete scenes here moving forward. How would you guys feel about that? Is that how you read the comic anyway? Would you like something completely different?

Let me know, and thanks for reading my comic, it means a lot.

Sorry that I forgot to update Tumblr last week (I’m trying to sort out how to automate that). Here’s pages 31 and 32 for you.

New page up Thursday night!

Because nothing says “Christmas Eve” like “comic showing a mental acuity test at NASA.” Thanks for reading!

Some technical difficulties cropped up tonight, so I’m afraid the page is delayed. To make it up to you, here’s a quick little video of the different steps in my process, from one of the first pages I used it on: Page 8 of Part 2.

I’m going to break that down in detail at some point, but the gist:

  1. Digital layout in Photoshop
  2. Print out layout and transfer roughly on light table
  3. Tighten those pencils (I forgot to take a pic :\)
  4. Ink
  5. Keep inking (I’m really happy with this expression)
  6. Scan and make flat colors in Manga Studio
  7. Use the flats as masks for digital watercolors

If I have time in the future, I’d probably recolor this since it ended up a little muddy. I’ve since added a value sketch step that’s helped in that department a lot (right after my first layout step, so I can keep it in mind while I ink), and I hope it’s made a noticeable difference in the last 8-10 pages or so.
