Less than twenty-four hours ago Steve had knocked on her door and told her he loved her. Less than twenty-four hours and she had hardly left his side. There was still so much to explain, but Peggy only cared that he was with her, that he loved her, and that he wanted to stay with her - and that the dream that she had never dared to hope for had become a reality. Peggy makes all Steve's dreams come true. | Steggy Week 2024

Excerpt:

“I was just thinking how I used to have dreams about you…while I was gone.”

Peggy smiled. “What kind of dreams?”

“They made me miss you more. Just simple dreams.”

“Tell me,” she said.

“Well, you’d smile and you’d touch my face. So softly, so gently.” The dream had felt like it had been in slow motion. The closeness of her face to his, her beauty overwhelming, her eyes shining for him. Her soft smile only for him, consumed by him, brought on by pure adoration and joy, the same kind of love he felt for her. She would reach out to him and brush her fingertips along his cheek, whisper his name, and that alone felt like a kiss.

Peggy reached up and brushed the back of her fingers along his cheek and then along his jawline, and her eyes locked with his, and she gave him everything he had dreamed of - in that dream at least. It was even better than in his dreams, this was real.

“I - uh - heard it was your birthday today,” he replied. His cheeks flushed the most adorable shade as he admitted his secret.

Peggy smiled. “How in the world did you find that out?”

“I - uh - saw it on paperwork in Phillips office,” he replied. “In your file.” He’d seen it months ago and marked the date in his calendar, and made sure that her gifts were ready for today. But he didn’t want to explain that part.

She laughed, a bit relieved that he hadn’t gone digging for her information. “I see. Well, yes, it is today.”

“Happy birthday, Peggy.”

Title: The Mermaid and her Fisherman

Summary: The world above is forbidden for mermaids, but beautiful Peggy can't help but save the life of noble handsome fisherman named Steve. The attraction is immediate, but how can a mermaid and a human be together? Love overcomes all obstacles in this mermaid AU story, with references to the Little Mermaid fairy tale as well as the Avengers universe we know and love.

Excerpt:

She carried him to shore and laid him out, brushing the seaweed and his bangs out of his vision, and she smiled. “You’re safe now,” she said softly. 

So he wasn’t dead. The angel had saved him. He sat up and took a better look at her. She wasn’t an angel, despite the way she looked with the sun behind her head, creating a halo around her dark curls. She wasn’t even human. She was almost naked, wearing only red seashells to cover her ample breasts and a string of pearls around her neck, and she had no legs, only a blue fishtail. 

He scrambled back away from her. She was a siren. He’d heard stories about them and how they would lure sailors to their deaths with a kiss and a song. His parents had warned him about sirens before they’d died. Next to storms, sirens were the biggest threat to sailors and fishermen. But she was so beautiful.

She frowned, clearly her feelings were hurt by his fear. “I’m not going to hurt you,” she said. 

“Y-you’re a siren,” Steve said. “I know what you do.”

She shook her head. “I’m a mermaid. Sirens are different. I saved you.” 

So she had. He nodded and relaxed. He supposed that she had a perfect chance to kiss him and drag him under during the storm, and instead, she brought him to shore. He could also think of worse ways to die than to kiss her. He glanced down at her perfect red lips and wondered how they stayed so red even though she spent her life underwater. He wondered many things, like if she’d ever saved a fisherman or sailor before, and if they’d wanted to kiss her too.
