hey all. it’s been a very long time. i don’t really feel comfortable inhabiting this space anymore, and as regulations and rules about tumblr change, it’s even more obvious that, while i found a home here, i’ve grown out of it. i don’t miss it anymore, which is weird to say, because i’ve built myself homes elsewhere, but i do miss some of you, which is why i’m making this post!

i did a lot of my growing up here. i met some amazing people who are still very present in my life. but no good thing lasts forever, and as i get busier irl, the internet life does shift bases, and in some areas, fall away. so i’m leaving this blog up because i did some wonderful things here -- i made a lot of friends, wrote a lot of cool stuff, and came up with some epic headcanons along the way. i want those things to be a part of how people see me.

for those of you who want to hang out still, i’m on twitter talking about hockey, hp, social justice and everything in between, i’m on discord (won’t give out my handle publicly, but i’ll check back here for a few days in case somebody messages me asking), i’m updating stuff on ao3 here and there, which is pretty awesome. i’m still active a lot of places -- i just don’t feel at home here anymore.

thanks for being so great to me over the frankly ridiculous amount of years since this blog started, first as thatboywithfingerstripes, then punkrockbadger, then tamilprongspotter, and now hammerhertls (which i spent a lot of time dreaming up and not enough time using). those of you who were close to me on here are all fondly remembered and i’m really glad to have been your friend. hopefully we’ll find each other again!

In which Sirius is revealed to have a pornstache, we are reminded that the rookies still exist, and James and Lily have just about the worst night ever to be had in a sketchy motel in Toronto.

Listen, we completely forgot to discuss the playoff beards before today so we absolutely need you to know that James is blessing the world with some Jujhar Khaira type shit. Google JJ. He's beautiful. Your quality of life will be significantly improved.

Also, to apologize for Sirius before he begins being Sirius, "absolute unit" is the most important piece of hockey terminology you need to learn and all it means is that somebody is big and buff and could crush everyone else to death but refrains from it as an act of politeness. We just wish he wasn't the first one in this story to say it.

In which the first of many trophies is handed out, an old argument is resolved, and imaginary history is made in the city of Seattle.

Thanks for sticking with us. We're nearing the end of this fic, but there is a lot more coming your way, once we're done here. We've been cooking up some pretty good stuff lately and we can't wait for you to see it!

tbh 95% of my existence on this earth involves me accidentally running into things in my house and saying “ouch” in the most deadpan voice possible

Getting pretty fucking annoyed at all the ableist reporting on Stephen Hawking’s death so like hey uh just a nice little summary of the core of literally every article about Stephen Hawking’s death and the reason why they fucking suck

Stephen Hawking didn’t achieve the things he did ‘despite’ his disability. He didn’t ‘overcome’ them in order to achieve what he did. He had a physical disability. He did physics. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. Heck, as the fucking ableist mess of an article Buzzfeed posted said, he himself said "My disabilities have not been a significant handicap in my field, which is theoretical physics. Indeed, they have helped me in a way by shielding me from lecturing and administrative work that I would otherwise have been involved in.”

They also included a quote from another physicist that says “He thinks about the universe differently, due to his physical disability. That enabled him to make discoveries that no one else could make. And he has. They have shaken the foundations of physics.”

Stephen Hawking and his scientific discoveries weren’t made in spite of his disabilities. His scientific discoveries and the achievements he made happened with his disabilities, and possibly were informed by them, and his disabilities shouldn’t be shunned or seen as something that held him back while his achievements - that he’s literally said weren’t held back by his disability - are celebrated
